Medicare open enrollment begins October 15 and runs through December 7, 2024. During this time, any Medicare enrollee can switch from Original Medicare to a private Medicare Advantage plan (or vice versa), switch between Medicare Advantage plans, or Enroll in or switch between Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. Changes will come into effect on January 1, 2025.

The numbers in the table above are based on projections CMS received from Medicare Advantage providers and are weighted by enrollment numbers. So if you have a less popular plan, your premium may be very different. For example, using 2024 CMS data, our calculations show that the monthly average for all Medicare Advantage premiums in 2024 was $23.05.

The CMS also said the number of special needs plans (SNPs) for Medicare recipients will increase by 9% next year, with SNPs making up about a quarter of all Medicare Advantage plans. Special needs plans provide additional benefits for people with certain chronic illnesses or disabilities, those enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid, or those living in certain facilities. An additional 7.2 million people are expected to enroll in these plans in 2025.

The average Plan D premium is also expected to decline

The average monthly cost for standalone Part D plans is also expected to decline to $46.50 in 2025, a decrease of $7.45, or 13.8%, from $53.95 in the year 2024 corresponds. These figures do not include those who do not pay premiums due to the Extra Help program.

CMS says premiums will be even lower on average for people who get prescription drug coverage through Medicare Advantage. Premiums are expected to decrease to $13.50 in 2025, a decrease of $2.06 (13.2%) from $15.56 in 2024.

In 2025, there will be a new limit of $2,000 on the amount you must pay out of pocket for Part D. The CMS said 99% of people now enrolled in a standalone Part D plan are with companies that have opted into that program.

What the changes in 2025 mean for you

These numbers can help you plan for upcoming changes to your insurance coverage and give you a general idea of ​​what average Medicare Advantage costs will be in 2025. If you are already enrolled in an MA plan, be sure to read your annual change notice, which you may have already received in the mail. Vice President Kamala Harris unpacked her immigration plan Friday after visiting the southern border for the first time since running as the Democratic nominee.

“I reject the false decision that says we must choose between securing the border and creating a safe, orderly and humane immigration system. We can and must do both,” Harris said.

Harris’ stay in Arizona, a key swing state, comes at a time when polls show immigration remains one of her biggest weaknesses.

An NBC News poll from earlier this month found that voters favor former President Donald Trump’s approach to border security by 21 points, a significant advantage over Harris but a smaller advantage compared to previous polls when President Joe Biden was still in office Race was.

If elected, Harris promises to expand legal pathways to citizenship while tightening restrictions on the asylum system, building on the Biden-Harris administration’s current policies.

President Joe Biden signed an executive order in June that largely suspends processing asylum applications if U.S. officials believe the southern border is overcrowded. Harris’ proposal would “make it more difficult to lift the emergency authority by requiring that the number of average border crossings be lower for an extended period of time before the shutdown can be lifted,” according to a fact sheet sent out by her campaign stating this It did not contain a specific threshold.

Ahead of Harris’ border visit on Friday, former President Donald Trump went on the offensive. He pointed to new data sent to lawmakers this week by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The letter said that as of July 21, 2024, there were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories listed in ICE’s national file.

“Kamala is directly responsible for the tens of thousands of illegal immigrant crimes she released into our country,” Trump said.

After this story was published, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security issued a statement saying that the data listed in the letter was being “misinterpreted.”

“The data goes back decades; they include people who have entered the country in the last 40 years or more and whose custody decisions were largely made long before this administration. They also include many who are under federal jurisdiction or are currently incarcerated, state or local law enforcement partners,” the spokesperson wrote.

In the original letter, ICE reported that most migrants on the list, which includes both convicted criminals and those with pending charges, were not detained. According to the letter, there were tens of thousands of non-citizens convicted of murder and sexual offenses in ICE’s non-detained file.

“Some jurisdictions have limited their cooperation with ICE and are now denying ICE detention requests, even for noncitizens convicted of serious crimes who pose an ongoing threat to public safety,” the letter continued. “We are deporting and returning record numbers of migrants who cannot establish a legal basis to remain in the United States, and are prioritizing deportation those who pose a risk to national security and public safety, as well as recent border crossers. “

Trump has promised to take more drastic measures.

“We will close the border. We will stop the invasion. “We are going to launch the largest deportation operation in American history,” Trump told a crowd in Michigan on Friday.

Harris often highlights her previous work as California’s attorney general in prosecuting transnational gangs. She also said Friday she would give federal law enforcement more resources to pursue cartels in court and improve detection of deadly drugs like fentanyl at the border.

Harris vowed to work on immigration reform at all levels and criticized Trump for pressuring Republican lawmakers to reject a bipartisan border deal in Congress.

“He would rather dwell on the problem than fix it,” Harris said.

On Friday, Trump called the law a “waste of paper.” The former president is expected to provide further answers at a campaign rally on immigration on Saturday.

Longboat Key’s reopening delayed due to discovery of gas leaks

Longboat Key Fire Chief Paul Dezzi said Saturday afternoon that plans to gradually reopen the island were stalled by the discovery of gas leaks.

Pittsburgh Steelers DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been strong defensively this season, giving up the fewest yards and points per contest in the NFL. They are primed for more success at home against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

Although the Indianapolis offense has put up a respectable number of points over the last three weeks, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson currently leads the league in interceptions thrown. If running back Jonathan Taylor struggles against a Steelers defense that allows the second-fewest rushing yards per game,

Richardson could be forced to throw the ball as he deals with intense pressure from DPOY favorite TJ Watt. Fantasy managers should include Pittsburgh’s DST in lineups of all shapes and sizes on Sunday.

New York Jets DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The New York Jets defense pulled off a great draw at home against the Denver Broncos in Week 4. The Broncos have struggled offensively this season, ranking 23rd in points per game and 26th in yards per game through three weeks.

The Jets have one of the most talented defenses in the league and are in a great situation at home against rookie quarterback Bo Nix. With New York considered a 7.5-point home favorite in a game with a low over/under ratio of 39.5, fantasy gamers should be confident heading into Week 4 with the Jets defense.

Cleveland Browns DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The Cleveland Browns defense will hit the road to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. Cleveland’s defense was solid through three games, recording nine sacks, good for tenth in the league.

The Raiders will call on Gardner Minshew II at center after benching him for Aiden O’Connell last week, but Minshew is on a leash after throwing just three touchdowns and three interceptions in the first three games of the season Thrown and didn’t score a vote of confidence from head coach Antonio Pierce during the week.

However, the Browns’ defense enters Week 4 pretty banged up, as Myles Garrett (foot, hamstring, hamstring), Jordan Hicks (ribs, elbow) and Mike Ford (knee) all missed a few practices this week due to their respective injuries.
