More trouble for Kangana Ranaut’s ’emergency’ after Shiromani Committee calls for ban in Punjab: ‘spitting poison’

More trouble for Kangana Ranaut’s ’emergency’ after Shiromani Committee calls for ban in Punjab: ‘spitting poison’

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ faces more challenges ahead of its release as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has vowed not to let the film release in the state. The biopic on Prime Minister Indira Gandhi may face more problems after the SGPC passed a resolution demanding a ban on the “controversial film”.

The committee accuses the producers of misrepresenting the community and misrepresenting historical facts. The film is awaiting a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which imposed strict censorship by issuing a U/A certification and asked filmmakers to make 13 changes.

SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami said: “Apart from defaming the Sikhs, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been portrayed in a bad light in the film, which the community cannot tolerate.”

He added, “This film has been made with the spirit of spewing venom and spreading hatred against the community as part of the anti-Sikh agenda. We will not allow it to be shown in Punjab.” ABP reported.

Penny Wong and Labor are accused of “destroying” the long-standing two-state solution for Israel and Palestine

Penny Wong and Labor are accused of “destroying” the long-standing two-state solution for Israel and Palestine

Penny Wong and Labor have been accused by the opposition of “destroying” Australia’s long-standing two-state approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Following Senator Wong’s address to the UN General Assembly on Saturday, Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie said the government was “playing domestic politics” by demanding a timetable for a two-state solution.

“It undoes our decades-long approach to a negotiated two-state solution in the Middle East…It actually wants to recognize the state of Palestine before we have negotiated an agreement, and it demands that timelines be set before the terms of an agreement are set “Senator McKenzie told ABC.

“The reality is that Hezbollah is incredibly active on the Lebanese-Israeli border and is constantly attacking Israel.

“Our secretary of state setting timelines really opens the door for these terrorist organizations to essentially run out of time.”

In a television interview, Senator Wong said the growing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon threatened further “regional escalation” following the involvement of the militant Lebanese Islamist group Hezbollah.

The comments came after an Israeli airstrike in southern Beirut killed Hezbollah leader Hazzan Nasrallah on Saturday.

“There is always a risk of further escalation. We have been worried about this for a long time, as have others in the international community,” she said on Sky News.

“We have worked with all possible parties to call for de-escalation and restraint.”

Senator Wong said it was time to end the “cycle of violence” in the region.

“The ultimate goal should be peace and security in the region, peace and security for the Israelis,” she said.

“This requires a two-state solution, which is the only path to long-term peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians.”

Senator Wong said Israel’s Netanyahu government must “listen to the international community.”

The comments came after she used an address to the United Nations to call for a “clear timetable” for ending the conflict in Gaza.

“I would say to Israel: We want you to listen to the international community. It is true that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. It is true that they have not complied with UN Security Council resolutions, but we see the terrible loss of life in Gaza. We see 11,000 children killed,” she said.

“The world does not want any more civilians to die. We need to find another way to deal with the legitimate issues surrounding the border.”

India TV conducted an investigation

Since the video went viral on social media, we decided to investigate this claim. We conducted a Google Open Search using relevant keywords but found no news reports confirming that India has been granted such status. We then looked at the official social media accounts of the United Nations and the Indian government but found no posts about it.

Additionally, when we searched for “UN veto power” on Google, we saw a “voting system” section on the official United Nations website. The “Veto Power” section clearly states that only the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States – have veto power.

Fathers whose sons have complex needs are speaking out

Fathers whose sons have complex needs are speaking out

BBC John Bell wears a black top, pictured from the shoulders up. He has brown hair. The background of the image is dark and blurry. BBC

John Bell says he and his wife are physically and mentally drained

“I’m supposed to be her protector, but I’m also supposed to be his protector, and if you’re stuck in the middle, what do you do?

For fathers of children with severe learning difficulties, life often presents many challenges.

BBC Spotlight spoke to four fathers of boys, all of whom have a diagnosis of autism and a severe learning disability, which can lead to worrying and harmful behavior for themselves and others.

They become bodyguards and protectors and in many cases are physically injured and demand more support and protection.

On Tuesday, a group of mothers spoke in a BBC Spotlight documentary about the incredibly difficult decisions they had to make when caring for their sons with complex needs, often without respite or support.

“You can’t be alone with him.”

Seamus Flannigan and his son Eoin together in the swimming pool. The man has his arms around the boy as he swims in the water.

Seamus Flannigan and his son Eoin together in a hydrotherapy pool

Séamus Flannigan is father to 16-year-old Eoin.

“I could leave the room and the next second I get a call from my daughter or my wife because he’s started again. “You have to physically get between him and her and get them out of the way,” Mr. Flannigan said.

“You think, okay, at least I can handle it, and it’s not my wife and it’s not my daughter that’s getting hurt. But then you realize they can’t be alone with him,” he said.

“You can’t have this beautiful time without someone there as a bodyguard.”

Séamus Flannigan wears a royal blue top, pictured from the shoulders up. He has brown hair. The background of the image is blurred.

Séamus Flannigan is father to 16-year-old Eoin

One of the most touching scenes in the film is when the family is in a hydrotherapy pool with Eoin. The bond between father and son is clear.

“It’s so easy, just splashing around in the water, playing with the waves pushing against you, he just loves that and he loves it when you’re with him.”

All four fathers describe these moments as “small successes”.

“He’s getting bigger and stronger.”

Frank Tipping’s 11-year-old son Theo can have great difficulty controlling his emotions, but he also has another side.

“He is a beautiful child. He is loving, he is warm-hearted. You can see he wants to fit in wherever he is,” Mr Tipping said.

“You can see he’s struggling to figure things out, but it’s very difficult for him and it’s very difficult for us to understand what exactly it is that he needs.”

And it is these moments of struggle that can often lead to desperate behavior.

Frank Tipping wears glasses and a blue and white checked shirt, pictured from the shoulders up. He has gray hair and a thick beard. The background of the image is blurred.

Frank Tipping says he feels guilty when he talks about Theo’s difficult episodes

In the film, Mr. Tipping often intervenes between Theo and his wife Julie, protecting them from the worse consequences of Theo’s grief.

“Ultimately you’re approaching a situation where you could get hurt, you know, and that’s really hard to imagine,” Mr. Tipping said.

“He’s getting bigger and stronger and I’m not sure we’re ready for it.”

Mr Tipping admits he feels very guilty when talking about Theo’s difficult episodes.

“It’s not Theo’s fault. “Theo is a great boy, he’s a godsend, he’s a blessing,” he said.

“But I feel like every time we articulate the problem, it feels like he’s being betrayed.”

“My hands are still black and blue”

John Bell’s 15-year-old son Rudy is strong and his outbursts have resulted in several injuries.

In the film, Rudy bites and scratches his father’s hands during a temper tantrum while Mr. Bell tries to de-escalate the situation.

“My hands are still black and blue and that was five or six weeks ago. And it’s hard because you don’t want him to hurt you or anyone else. Or himself. If Rudy gets you, he gets you good, you can really feel it,” he said.

John Bell, pictured from the chest down, shows his hands with cuts and blood on them. He is wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.

John Bell was injured by his son Rudy

Mr Bell said he and his wife Carly felt taking part in the film was a last resort – they wanted to show reality and its difficulties.

“If people see this, and maybe professionals see it, maybe they can see what me and my family are going through,” he said.

“We are physically and mentally exhausted. I’m still trying to nail down an assignment, but I had to shorten it to two days.”

Rest needed

Social services have determined that all four boys should receive regular overnight rest breaks. There the children would go to a health facility and the families would be given a break.

There are currently no places available at the Belfast and South Eastern Trust.

Mr Bell said a reprieve would be invaluable.

“It has made a massive difference to everyone in the family. I mean everyone. Because you got a bed for the night, you slept for the night.”

Mr Bell has had medical problems this year, including very high blood pressure: “It’s gotten to the point where I’m running on empty.”

“There’s really nothing I can do.”

Danny Miller’s father Steven changed jobs so he could spend more time at home.

“I used to be a mechanic and now I work for the road service and have lost almost half of my wages,” Mr Miller said.

“This is something I had to do to support my family.”

His wife Claire regularly suffers serious injuries.

“I watch him attack her and there’s not really anything I can do,” he said.

“I’m supposed to be her protector, but I’m also supposed to be his protector and you’re stuck in the middle, what are you doing?

“Most of the time we lie on the floor and try to keep him from hitting his head on the floor.”

Mr. Miller says he is devoted to his son and believes regular rest breaks would help the whole family.

Steven Miller wears a navy polka dot top, pictured from the shoulders up. He has a thick beard and gray hair. In the background are cream-colored kitchen cabinets.

Steven Miller changed careers to support his family at home

The South Eastern Health Trust, which is caring for Danny and Rudy, said it would not comment on their cases.

It said it understood the pressure placed on families but could not offer any relief as the beds were being used by children requiring long-term accommodation.

She added that she hoped future funding would be made available.

Belfast Health Trust, which is responsible for Eoin and Theo’s care, said it was very unfortunate that it was unable to offer overnight breaks, but the trust was looking at options to reintroduce them.

Health Minister Mike Nesbitt said the current situation was untenable, adding he was committed to making “urgent improvements”.

True freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith continues to impress as he had five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown while also producing a score on the ground. He now has five touchdowns on the year, which is just three shy of the school record by a freshman.

The Buckeyes rank in the top five in the country in both offense and defense.

As for Iowa, the Hawkeyes are off to a 3-1 start to the season. They also opened Big Ten play with a win and a loss Minnesota with a record of 31-14 in Week 4 before receiving a bye last week.

Iowa has been known in recent seasons for having a top-notch defense and a subpar offense. However, they have scored at least 30 points in three of their four games so far this season.

Increase in terrorist threats under Biden

Increase in terrorist threats under Biden

**Danger** looms on the horizon as terrorist threats reach unprecedented levels, a stark warning reiterated by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas in a recent interview.

Cruz explained that we are “living on borrowed time” when it comes to possible major terrorist attacks and explained that the situation has deteriorated significantly since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Given recent events – including the attack on Israel on October 7 – Cruz pointed out that the Biden administration’s policies are a major factor endangering the security of Americans.

He highlighted the “disastrous foreign policy” of President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and underscored the alarming flow of more than $100 billion to Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism.

Cruz also criticized the current administration’s open borders policy, warning that it was an invitation for terrorists to freely enter the United States.

“Kamala Harris and Colin Allred’s open borders policies have led to incredible failures in vetting illegal immigrants,” he noted, citing the alarming increase in unvetted migrants entering the country.

The Biden administration has reportedly flown more than half a million migrants to the United States, many from countries linked to rising terrorism.

Cruz, who is currently in a competitive race with Allred for his Senate seat, highlighted previous successes under the Trump administration, when illegal immigration hit record lows.

He firmly believes that the solution to these escalating threats is to remove Biden and Harris from power and is calling for a Republican resurgence in Congress to effectively secure the border.

The senator also pointed to warnings from security experts about current vulnerabilities at airport checkpoints, which echoed concerns raised before the Sept. 11 attacks.

As the shadow of terrorism grows, Cruz is rallying support for the idea of reinstating the security measures that once succeeded in keeping Americans safe, promoting a vision of a safer future under strong Republican leadership.

OutKick’s Clay Travis Interviews Trump on Epic SEC Duel and State of Race: ‘This is Really Big Football’

OutKick’s Clay Travis Interviews Trump on Epic SEC Duel and State of Race: ‘This is Really Big Football’

Excited by the excitement of the long-standing rivalry between the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia, former President Trump participated in a wide-ranging interview about college football and the intersection of politics.

In an exclusive OutKick interview with Clay Travis, Trump highlighted the “energy” of Saturday night’s Alabama-Georgia game.

“This is really big football and it’s great to see,” Trump said.

The stadium crowd cheered as Trump was shown on the giant television screens and a video board watching the game with Sens. Katie Britt, Tommy Tuberville and Steve Daines of Montana.

When asked about his appeal to younger voters, Trump said his campaign was “way up.”

“We are way up there with young people. It’s an honor. They are very smart. And her.” [Kamala Harris] insulted them and said they weren’t smart, and I’ll be honest, they were a lot smarter than them,” he said.

“There has never been such energy as there is now. And I guess I am, but it’s also like that when you look at our country and what happened. Our country is in bad shape and is in a very dangerous place right now. But we love our country, and we will make it great again.

The changes to the NFL’s kickoff caught Trump’s attention, with the Republican candidate praising college football for sticking to the previous rules.

“Big college football is as big as the NFL,” he said. “I don’t know what they do with the kickoff return in the NFL. And of course I don’t want to get into controversy, but it looks so bad.”

“And it occurred to me that they didn’t do that in college and they shouldn’t,” he said. “And I think the NFL should go back. And maybe she’s a little more dangerous, but I doubt she’s more dangerous. It’s football.”

“I think they made a terrible mistake with this,” he said.

Trump turned his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, who was in attendance at the game between the two on Saturday Minnesota and Michigan in Ann Arbor.

“He was booed out of the stadium,” he said. “And you saw the hand we were dealt – it was a little different.”

“We have to wait and see what happens on November 5th. “I think it’s the most important day in the history of our country,” Trump said. “This will be the biggest election we’ve ever had because our country is in a bad place. I have always said that they are destroying our country, no, they destroyed it and we will bring it back.”

“I think he did really well. And I think he’ll do really well. He’s a winner, he’s a champion,” Trump said when asked about his performance. “And there are a lot of people who are jealous of him, so they will always say no matter how well he does, they will remain as negative as possible.”

“I think he’s doing fantastically well,” he said.

The state-run Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has launched an ambitious initiative to provide support and guidance to over 8,00,000 public school students in preparing for various undergraduate entrance exams.

KITE is the technology arm of the General Education Department, Government of Kerala.

Click here to connect with us via WhatsApp

The program titled ‘Key to Entrance’ was inaugurated by General Education Minister V. Sivankutty here on Saturday.

The main aim of the initiative is the state’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting students in the fields of science, humanities and business, an official statement said here on Sunday.

The dedicated portal for the initiative, www.entrance.kite.kerala.gov.in, provides free login access to students of higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools in government and aided schools and enables them to access a wide range of learning materials, including questionnaires, assignments and mock tests, it said

All these resources will be available after the daily live classes broadcast on the KITE VICTERS channel from September 30, with simultaneous broadcast on two PM eVidya channels exclusively reserved for Kerala.

Students who miss the live sessions can watch them later via KITE’s YouTube channel.

The program will initially cover a comprehensive range of subjects, including chemistry, physics, botany, zoology, mathematics, history, political science, business administration, English and geography, and there are plans to expand it to more subjects in the future, it said.

There will be self-assessment opportunities in each class, allowing students to assess their progress and identify opportunities for improvement. The statement further said that continuous assessment will be facilitated through online mock exams to ensure effective learning outcomes.

To ensure smooth implementation of the initiative, the Director of General Education (DGE) has directed all schools to provide students with the necessary technical facilities.

K Anvar Sadath, Chief Executive Officer, KITE, said this is the largest public entrance examination training system in Kerala, reaching nearly 800,000 students.

“Our aim is to replicate the success of last year’s Crack the Entrance crash course, which saw excellent participation and impressive results for students preparing for the medical and engineering entrance exams,” he added.

A Stranger Crashing A TikToker’s Big Moment At The Charli XCX Show, And More Of This Week’s ‘One Main Character’

A Stranger Crashing A TikToker’s Big Moment At The Charli XCX Show, And More Of This Week’s ‘One Main Character’

Every day, somebody says or does something that earns them the scorn of the internet. Here at Digg, as part of our mission to curate what the internet is talking about right now, we rounded up the main characters on X from this past week and held them accountable for their actions.

This week, we’ve got Marques Brownlee’s cash grab, lively debate about Chappell Roan’s politics, Sam Altman’s revolutionary note-taking method and a Charli XCX fan who became the internet’s enemy number one.

Monday

Marques Brownlee

The character: Marques Brownlee, YouTube tech reviewer, newly-minted app guy

The plot: Brownlee, best-known for some brutal takedowns of bad products, has put out his very own bad product. The slap-dash smartphone wallpaper app, dubbed “Panels,” demands a hefty $12-per-month fee for what amounts to be a pretty sub-par experience.

Even worse, it seemingly collects a lot of user data. People aren’t happy.

The repercussion: In fairness, Brownlee quickly backpedaled on some of the worst parts of the pitch, but it’s clear that this should have never launched in this state. We’re certainly not against paying for art under the right circumstances, but we’ll probably be sticking with Wallaroo for about $2 a month and a much better experience. Go back to the drawing board, MKBHD.

Grant Brunner

Saturday

Chappell Roan

The character: Chappell Roan, pop star, divisive figure

The plot: Over the weekend, a cherry-picked comment made by singer Chappell Roan in a Guardian interview went viral and sparked a hell of a lot of debate on X.

Roan, who has seen a meteoric rise to superstardom this year, told the British newspaper: “There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone. There’s problems on both sides.”

The repercussion: It’s common knowledge that Chappell Roan is a fierce advocate of LGBTQ+ rights, but many saw her refusal to endorse the left-wing presidential nominee as a failure to truly support and protect that community.

Some X users even accused her of being a secret Republican.

Others, meanwhile, understood Roan’s reluctance to endorse Kamala Harris when there are many decisions by the Democratic party that she doesn’t support — she is, for example, an outspoken critic of Israel’s war in Gaza, which the Dems are backing — and argued that the issue isn’t as clear-cut as some are making out.

Roan herself eventually took to social media to clarify her statements, and reassure those in doubt that while she has no desire to endorse any particular candidate, she will not be voting for Trump.

Tuesday

Sam Altman

The character: Sam Altman, OpenAI co-founder, huge note-taker, inconsiderate notebook owner

The plot: Altman has graced our column previously (the time he wanted to takeover the world with a trillion words) and a clip of Altman’s appearance on the “How I Write” podcast recently raised eyebrows after he revealed some of his writing habits and preference for spiral notebooks — because ripping those pages out is much easier, and is something he does quite often.

Altman also casually let it slip how he throws piles of crumpled paper on the floor, and waits for his housecleaner (“when our house cleaner comes in, you know, whenever,”) to clear up the pile.

The repercussion: While Altman has been ridiculed many times since OpenAI went mainstream, his lack of media training and refusal to act human was something people couldn’t forgive.

Adwait Patil

Tuesday

Charli XCX fan

The character: Charli XCX fan, dancing intruder, excited person

The plot: On the NYC night of Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s “Sweat” tour, TikToker Kelley Heyer, who created the viral dance to Charli’s song “Apple,” performed the routine under a spotlight and surrounded by screaming fans. It was very much a Main Character moment for Heyer, so people watching the video online were surprised to see someone jumping in to dance alongside her.

The repercussion: Initial reactions to the stage invader, who was not known to Heyer, were extreme, to say the least. Sure, her briefly trying to grab Heyer’s arm was a little weird and awkward — but some X users went as far as to say the girl deserved to be hit, while others resorted to cruel, fatphobic comments.

Thankfully, reason appears to have prevailed, with many people coming to the girl’s defense. Even Heyer herself addressed the situation and called out those being nasty and abusive to someone who was just excited.
