Nebraska battles Purdue in its first road game of 2024

Nebraska battles Purdue in its first road game of 2024

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WOWT) – When people talk about the end of a season, they usually talk about the “home stretch,” but for the Huskers in 2024, the home stretch has already ended in some ways.

After opening the season with four straight games at the comfort of Memorial Stadium (3-1, 0-1), Nebraska takes its first road trip on Saturday to a date with Purdue (1-2, 0-0).

GAME INFO

  • WHEN: 11 a.m., Saturday, September 28th
  • WHERE: Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, Ind.

  • VEGAS ODDS: Purdue +10.5, O/U 48.5

Nebraska is trying to recover from a disastrous late-game collapse that led to an overtime loss to No. 19 Illinois a week ago – a scene that has become all too familiar to the Big Red Nation over the last decade.

It’s the right place for the Huskers, and they know it.

“Hopefully [the Illinois loss] is a good wake-up call,” head coach Matt Rhule said in his press conference on Monday. “I have to admit that our team threw itself into crucial situations and didn’t make it. I have to admit that… As far as we’re concerned, on our sideline this week we can’t worry about the officials or a call that we feel is directed at us. We can’t worry about making the perfect call. Our guys just have to go out there and play loose.”

But despite the first loss of the season against an Illinois team that is poised for one of its best years in program history, there is still optimism among the Husker faithful for the most part.

That game is a thing of the past and now Purdue finds itself in the crosshairs of a Nebraska team hungry for its first conference win of the season.

“For me right now it’s about this week,” Rhule said. “We focused on really familiarizing ourselves with all the different things that Purdue does. They really had two different offenses this year, which adds a little versatility to our preparation. What we know is that Mockobee is as good a player as the Big Ten, and we know Card is excellent.”

Devin Mockobee is a real tailback for the Boilermakers with his height of 1.80 m and a weight of just over 90 kg. In three games, Mockobee has rushed for 276 yards and a touchdown, averaging a whopping 7.7 yards per carry.

His backfield mate, QB Hudson Card, is about as experienced as any college football player out there. A fifth-year senior, Card is in his second season at quarterback for the Boilermakers since transferring from Texas in 2022.

Card opened the season with a near-perfect performance in a 49-0 win over Indiana State, completing 24 of 25 passes for 273 yards and four touchdowns. However, he has struggled since then, as has the entire Purdue team. Card completed just 11 passes and threw two interceptions in Purdue’s blowout loss to Notre Dame before throwing for just 56 yards in another loss – a 38-21 loss to Oregon State.

Still, the Huskers refuse to discount a Boilermaker team that, while obviously struggling this season, can always pull off an upset in West Lafayette.

“It’s going to be a huge battle and we’re just going to have to try to make one more play than them,” Rhule said.

Freshman QB Dylan Raiola and the Nebraska offense will look to break up a Purdue unit that ranked last in the Big Ten in total defense through four weeks and gave up 66 points to Notre Dame in week two.

Raiola had his best performance of his young career in last week’s loss to the Illini, completing 24 of 35 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns. Now he’s preparing for the first road game of his college career.

“I think nothing will change for us except that we will wear white jerseys instead of red,” Raiola said in his press conference on Monday. “We’ll just try to go out there and play our best football, but it will be in a different stadium. “I think all the boys are looking forward to a change of scenery and we can all be out there together, which makes it even better.”

Nebraska easily handled Purdue a season ago, winning 31-14 and holding Card to just 100 yards through the air. The record between these two teams is dead even at 6-6, with Saturday’s winner taking a lead in the historic clash.

8 Practical Apps for iPhone Mirroring in iOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia

8 Practical Apps for iPhone Mirroring in iOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia

Is Apple’s new? iPhone mirroring function actually makes sense in the latest versions of iOS and MacOS? No matter where your iPhone is nearby – in another room where it’s charging or buried at the bottom of a bag – you can see and control it from your Mac.

CNET Tech Tips logo

Aside from the sheer convenience of not having to pick up the phone, I’ve found several reasons to use iPhone mirroring. In fact, I find myself using it regularly on my iPhone 16 since the release of iOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia. (And if you run this latest betaslets you experiment with one of the most interesting mirroring features, the ability to drag and drop items directly onto the phone and vice versa.)

Read more: How to control your iPhone from your Mac using iPhone mirroring

iOS 18 and MacOS Sequoia are available now and bring a variety of other features, such as: animated text messages and the ability to do so Customize your iPhone’s home screen.

Check this out: iPhone Mirroring comes to Macs with MacOS Sequoia

When your iPhone is in a pocket, purse or other room

The simplest use case is when you want to access something on your phone but it’s buried in a bag, just out of reach, or you can’t get up (or you can, but the snoozing cat or dog on your lap would don’t do that). I don’t appreciate the disruption). The connection via iPhone mirroring is much more convenient.

However, this feature doesn’t work over long distances, such as if you accidentally left your iPhone at home and need to access it from work. iPhone mirroring uses Apple’s Continuity technology, which means the iPhone and Mac must be within Bluetooth range of each other.

If you need to check in via an iPhone app

Missed your daily Duolingo check-in and your phone isn’t at hand? If this is the case with your Mac, iPhone Mirroring can connect and ensure you keep your streak going.

Or maybe you need to complete today’s Wordle challenge, but while you’re working it would be too obvious that you’re looking at your phone. The discreet iPhone Mirroring window can be easily covered or hidden if necessary.

If you want to use an app, not a web interface

Even today, some popular services still work much better in apps than in web interfaces. Yes, we’re looking at you, Instagram. Posting through an app often includes more options or a better user experience. Because iPhone mirroring gives you almost complete access to the iPhone interface, you can post with a mouse cursor instead of a finger.

If you want to quickly transfer items between devices (coming soon)

I take a lot of screenshots for work and personally take even more photos, all of which end up in my photo library. These images are then synced to my Mac via iCloud – but sometimes it seems to be at a pace aptly described as “when the phone gets around to it.” If I need something on my Mac immediately, I use AirDrop between devices, which It works, but it’s more complicated than I’d like.

Later this year, however, we’ll be able to drag and drop all types of files – not just images – between an iPhone and the Mac running the iPhone Mirroring app. This also works both ways: Drop a video or important PDF file from a Mac Finder window onto the mirrored iPhone to transfer it to the phone. (You can play with it now Beta versions for iOS 18.1 and MacOS Sequoia.)

If you don’t want to clutter up your Mac with software junk

MacOS has a long history of supporting system extensions, startup items, and various background processes that you probably don’t realize are running most of the time. For example, some large application suites distribute these accessory files like a dropped Lego box. In many cases, resource consumption is negligible, but these parts still consume memory and processor power.

In contrast, iOS has always been built as a siled system, with each app having its own protected storage and tightly controlled routes for interacting with other apps. Especially for apps that you don’t use often but need to keep, you may want to install a mobile version to avoid the app creep that occurs on macOS.

iPhone Mirroring offers you the opportunity to continue using such an app on your Mac without infecting MacOS with all the associated junk that is normally installed.

If you want to log in to your bank’s app instead of doing so on the computer

Unfortunately, some of these suggestions focus on the theme of “an app is better than a website,” and there is often no better example than banking websites.

It can be easier and more secure to access your bank accounts or investments by using iPhone Mirroring to sign in with the iOS app instead of a web browser on your Mac. You’ll still need to authenticate the iPhone app when you open it (since you can’t use Face ID or Touch ID on the device), but that might be a more convenient option.

Use safe apps that are only available on your phone, such as: B. the Bank of America app.

If you want to access locked and hidden apps on your phone

In iOS 18, you can hide sensitive apps or require authentication (e.g. Face ID) to open them. If you’d rather use them on your phone rather than through an app or web interface on your Mac, iPhone Mirroring lets you access them when the phone isn’t nearby.

If you do this, the iPhone Mirroring app will require authentication via Mac, as expected. Enter your Mac’s login password, use Touch ID, or authenticate with your connected Apple Watch to open locked apps or reveal the hidden folder on your phone.

Three iPhone mirroring screens show the process of clicking on the hidden folder, entering your password to authenticate, and then visible apps in the folder. If you are giving a presentation and want to show what is on the iPhone

Admittedly, this is a smaller subset of use cases, but if you need to demonstrate something on iPhone during an online or in-person presentation, iPhone Mirroring is a far easier option than other methods.

Aside from installing an overhead camera, the predominant method is to connect the iPhone to a Mac via a cable and use QuickTime Player to display the phone’s screen. Then you would still have to use the phone with your hands.

With iPhone Mirroring, the phone can now be connected wirelessly and operated using your Mac’s trackpad or mouse and keyboard.

The main limitation with this approach is that the mirrored connection will be interrupted if you need to do something on the phone.

And a streaming restriction that we would like to see changed

An unknown feature between Apple devices is the ability to stream media from an iPhone to a Mac using AirPlay. Is it time to sit back and watch a movie or catch an episode of your favorite TV show? You can launch it on iPhone and target Mac with its larger screen.

Since iPhone mirroring allows you to control an iPhone that is out of reach, it would be nice to start a movie playing on the Mac screen. However, digital rights management kills this idea when it comes to iPhone mirroring. Even though you can open an app like TV and start a show, the picture remains black.

This black screen also occurs when you use AirPlay to stream while iPhone mirroring is active. This only works if you physically control the phone and stream to the Mac.

iPhone Mirroring is just a new feature on iPhone and Mac running iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia. Don’t miss it How to spice up your texts in messages and how to work with the updated Control Center.

Bills vs. Ravens where to watch: NFL kickoff time, live stream, spread, odds, prediction for “SNF” showdown

Bills vs. Ravens where to watch: NFL kickoff time, live stream, spread, odds, prediction for “SNF” showdown

Two AFC contenders face off in exciting action this week in Baltimore as Lamar Jackson and the Ravens host the undefeated Buffalo Bills. The Bills are on a short week after defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 47-10 on Monday night. For the Ravens, Jackson and Derrick Henry led Baltimore to a 28-25 victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Things got tight late, however, as Dak Prescott’s offense scored 19 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to get within three points. It was a challenge for the Ravens to get a double-digit lead.

In fact, the last time Josh Allen and Jackson faced off was in Week 4 of 2022. The Ravens blew a 10-point lead in the second half as Buffalo scored 13 unanswered points – including a game-winning 21-yard field- Goal – win 23-20.

This will be a litmus test for both teams and a possible preview of this year’s AFC Championship Game. It is the highest scoring offense compared to the highest total offense. Let’s break down what promises to be an entertaining match, but first, here’s how to watch the game on Sunday night.

All NFL odds come from SportsLine Consensus.

Where to see

Date: Sunday September 29th | Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
Location: M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore)
Channel: NBC | Electricity: fubo
Consequences: CBS Sports App
Opportunities: Ravens -2.5 O/U 46.5

Trends

  • The Ravens have a 6-1 lead at home against the Bills
  • The Under has scored in seven of the last eight prime-time games in which Buffalo plays on the road
  • The Ravens are 14-7 ATS in primetime games started by Jackson

When the Bills have the ball

Headshot of the player

Some believed Allen would regress without Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. It turns out he’s fine. So far, he has completed 75% of his passes for 634 yards, 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Allen now has the most passing touchdowns without an interception through three games in Bills franchise history and has made two consecutive starts without a turnover for the first time since 2020.

While we don’t know exactly who the new “WR1” is, Allen leads the league with a passer rating of 133.7. Whether he’s throwing the ball to Keon Coleman or Khalil Shakir, Allen is a dangerous playmaker. He prepares for long drives, takes care of the football and still plays with his legs. That’s why Allen is currently the MVP favorite. With a win against the Ravens, he can equal the longest winning streak by a quarterback in franchise history. The record is nine consecutive yards, set by Jack Kemp in 1964. The Ravens have statistically had the worst pass defense in the NFL for three weeks, allowing 291.7 pass yards per game, so Allen will have his chances.

While the Ravens are vulnerable through the air, they currently have the No. 1 rush defense in the NFL with 50 yards allowed per game. Still, Allen’s No. 1 weapon could be running back James Cook. His 285 yards from scrimmage rank 14th in the NFL and his 4 total touchdowns rank fourth. He has become one of those dual-threat backs to be reckoned with, ranking second on the Bills in receiving yards with 97.

When the Ravens have the ball

Headshot of the player

Death, taxes and the Ravens playing football well. Baltimore has outscored teams by 460 yards this season and outscored the Cowboys 274-51 last week! In this win, Henry recorded his 12th game with 150 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, which ranks second all-time.

Jackson has 254 rushing yards this season, more than any quarterback in the first three games of a season in NFL history. Entering Week 4, he ranks eighth among all rushing players. While Henry had a slow start with his new team, he is clearly starting to find his rhythm. This new version of Thunder and Lightning is the first duo to record 250 rushing yards and average five yards per rush in three games since 1960. The last duo to do this was Jim Brown and Bobby Mitchell for the Cleveland Browns.

The Bills beat the Miami Dolphins in Week 2, but running back De’Vachane had a day with 96 rushing yards and an average of 4.4 yards per carry. The Bills will need to keep Jackson and Henry in check if they want to win on Sunday night.

Another point the Ravens should keep an eye on is their inconsistency on offense. It will obviously be a challenge to build a lead over the Bills, but it’s worth noting that since 2020, Baltimore has lost 11 times by a touchdown lead in the fourth quarter. That’s the most of any team in at least five years, since 1991. Just last week, the Ravens nearly blew a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter.

forecast

The plus money bills will be tempting for everyone. After all, Buffalo has looked like the best team in the NFL over the past three weeks. That being said, the Bills needed a double-digit comeback to beat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, destroyed the Dolphins – who have yet to lead a game with time on the clock this season – in Week 2 and then took care of it on “Monday Night Football.” “ about business against the Jaguars – who look like the worst team in the NFL.

Give me the Ravens in prime time at home, because they are easily the toughest test the Bills have faced this season. Justin Tucker is 0-2 on 50-yard field goals this season, but I predict he hits a 50-yarder in the fourth quarter to win.

Expected score: Ravens (-2.5) 24-21 over Bills

Bonus: SportsLine’s NFL expert Mike Tierney is 48-22-2 in his last 72 picks with the Ravens, and we can tell you he has the edge in this primetime showdown against the Bills. Check out who he’s facing against the spread at SportsLine.
