The Timberwolves are reportedly trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks

The Minnesota Timberwolves open training camp next week and made a blockbuster trade on Friday evening.

According to Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Timberwolves are trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks for Julius Randle, Donte Divencenzo and a first-round pick.

Why it matters

Towns was drafted Nol. He was selected No. 1 overall by the Timberwolves in 2015 and spent nine seasons in Minnesota. He is the team’s best player alongside Anthony Edwards and one of the faces of the franchise. It appears Towns himself was caught off guard, judging by his reaction on social media Friday night.

Towns helped the Timberwolves to their best regular season in 20 years last season and their first trip to the Western Conference finals in two decades. He is a four-time NBA All-Star and 2015 Rookie of the Year. Last season, he averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, making him one of the best perimeter shooting big men in the league.

Towns begins the first year of a four-year, $220 contract extension this season. The Timberwolves posted a video of Towns practicing at Mayo Clinic Square earlier this week.

What it means

The Timberwolves open training camp next week and will host a media day on Monday. That means Anthony Edwards is the face of the franchise, if he wasn’t already. Randle and DiVencenzo will need to work their way into the rotation and fit in with Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley Jr., Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid.

Tim Connelly continues to show that he is not afraid to take bold steps. He traded five draft picks and four players to the Utah Jazz to get Rudy Gobert, who was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year for the fourth time last season.

The team has not confirmed Towns’ trade.

How to die alone

Season 1

Episodes 7 – 8

In the last two episodes of How to die alone In the first season, Melissa jumps in at the deep end, and Natasha Rothwell proves herself to be multi-talented, showcasing her range as an actress in a way we’ve never seen before. If The White Lotus gave us a taste of how talented Rothwell is in different genres. Her appearance in these episodes is a three-course meal. We’re already familiar with her impeccable comedic skills – Melissa’s practice monologue in the van before her confrontation with Alex to well – and sharply written, but it touches our hearts How to die alone (Did anyone else burst into tears when she blew up for the first time?) and delivered an impressive first season with plenty of potential for a second.

After deciding to tell Alex her true feelings before the wedding, the seventh episode begins with Melissa heading to the airport to pick him up before his flight to Maui. She arrives late and rolls up to his gate after hijacking one of the electric carts to see that the flight has finished boarding and is preparing to depart. Defeated, she goes to the Thai restaurant where she once worked. At first, the decision to return to her comfort zone seemed like the ultimate form of regression. But as the night progresses, the show reminds us that sometimes rising above oneself and bearing witness to the discomfort that comes with it is a necessary part of evolution. The Melissa who shows up at the Thai restaurant on New Year’s Eve is light years ahead of the old Melissa, but she needs to see for herself how far she’s come to truly believe it, which means there’s a few more along the way Lessons gives self-realization.

The first dragon to be killed on the path to Melissa’s true rebirth is perhaps the greatest of all: Alex (and the Rangoon Crab). While her near-death experience was the real impetus for her transformation, Melissa’s repressed feelings for the man, to whom she could never fully open up despite her deep love, were the driving force behind her motivation to face her fear of escape. When Melissa sees him picking up some takeout, she reluctantly invites him to dinner after briefly trying to hide under the table. Everything is laid out as if it were divine intervention: Alex explains how he missed his flight because he forgot his bag, his order is still the one Melissa taught him, and his words drip with affection. He notices that she’s missing the crab rangoon and tells her to get back on the proverbial horse and try some of his. Every word they exchange is full of possible double meanings, with the starter seemingly serving as a stand-in for Alex. (“Everything that is good deserves another chance” was practically an invitation for me!)

Melissa finally bites into the crispy dumpling, opening the door to a renewed connection with Alex. She soon apologizes for how harsh she was when she broke things off and admits that it was cruel to react that way after he confessed his love. Alex confesses that he missed his flight on purpose and reveals some of his problems with his fiancée Julie, including the fact that she wants him to wear a seafoam green tie and that Julie’s cousins are inviting her on a girls’ trip despite the wedding already occurring want to organize a bachelor party. Melissa tells him that she understands that she needs a break and suggests an evening together. But before we get fully involved in her antics, let’s address how inappropriate Alex’s behavior is. I would be angry if my fiancé walked around town with his ex the DAY BEFORE our wedding, giving each other googly eyes. And if it’s between a seafoam tie and wearing one Turtleneck for one tropical Although the destination wedding was, as Alex said, his dream, it’s clear that Alex is the problem in this equation. I understand why it takes Julie two bachelor parties to deal with his ass.

As they walk outside, Melissa convinces a shopkeeper to let him look through her selection of ties to find a more suitable option than sea foam green (she informed him that the turtleneck was unacceptable). She flirtatiously places a royal purple tie around his neck, with the owner assuming she is the bride he will marry. Their next stop is a karaoke bar, where Melissa Alex is determined to prove how outgoing she is with a public appearance. She puts her adrenaline to work, skipping the line by taking someone else’s seat and getting Alex to sing “Leave the Door Open” with her as the show cheekily opens the door to a magical rom-com world , in which time stands still as they rampage through New York City. While everyone else is frozen in the frame, Melissa and Alex make their way to the park, surrounded by twinkling lights still hanging on the trees for the Christmas season.

At the park, Melissa points out that there are no fireworks yet on New Year’s Eve, which happens to be the same thought I had about the chemistry between her and Alex. Although he tenderly helps her across the frozen pond to view the fireworks up close and remembers the intimacy of taking out her pigtails (again, highly inappropriate behavior for someone who is becoming a husband in twenty-four hours), Alex senses That’s not it. Sparks also fly when she pulls him in for a kiss. The kiss makes Alex angry and he storms off when she blurts out that she still has feelings for him. As he tries to get a taxi, Melissa begs him not to get married, but when Alex asks her to put her heart on the line and openly say that she loves him, Melissa cannot do it and declares that she has too much fear. But I wonder if her inability to say those words wasn’t entirely based on her fear of rejection. Maybe somewhere deep in her subconscious, Melissa really doesn’t love Alex. Instead, it is an expression of all the opportunities she has missed through inaction. Now that she’s ready to fly – literally – she’s outgrown him, although it will take further divine intervention for her to realize that.

The season finale begins with Melissa eagerly waiting to board the plane to Maui, despite Alex’s rejection. She reconciles with Rory, who also questions whether Melissa really loves Alex, but she is determined to escape. However, the flight is overbooked and the airline offers a passenger a thousand dollar voucher for a delayed trip. When the airline increases the value of the voucher to three thousand dollars, Melissa sees it as a way to give her a direct way out of the embarrassment of showing up at the wedding. The flight attendant asks if she would like to trade her first class ticket (she charged Elise’s credit card!) for egregious layovers and a seat on the bus, but as Melissa explains, she tries to talk herself out of going to a man’s wedding wishes she would marry herself, carer is more than happy to make the transfer. Now Melissa has an itinerary that takes her to four stops across the country and ensures she doesn’t make it to Maui for at least 48 hours.

With her stack of plane tickets in hand, Melissa is ready to take not one, but four flights, unlike the Melissa who sat scared on the tarmac and watched other people live their lives. As she makes her way to the plane, she sees her old self smoking outside while leaning on a luggage cart, bringing her vision from the first episode to life. She occupies a middle seat between an old couple, making it comfortable for her to settle in and stand out. Soon after, the plane experiences turbulence and Melissa panics, with the confused expression on a flight attendant’s face adding to her fear. It turns out the plane hit some birds, and as one capable-looking flight attendant says, the other flight attendant just has “a scared face” because he’s getting discounted Botox. This flight attendant gives Melissa the wings she can fly for the first time to pin on her shirt and congratulates her on making it through a rough patch to the other side.

After Melissa lands safely in Charlotte, overcoming her worst fear motivates her to keep going. Melissa calls Terrance and explains that she is not at the wedding because she decided she shouldn’t take her first flight back in time. Alternatively, Melissa changes the next ticket to Chicago and visits the restaurant Elise is standing in front of in a photo. There she meets the owner, who turns out to be one of Elise’s former lovers, and they celebrate Elise’s fiery personality. Melissa admits to stealing Elise’s money, but in return for the old picture, he promises to forget the fraud and advises her to live a life in a way that would make Elise proud. She takes his advice and follows him. So her stopover in Chicago becomes the solo trip of a lifetime, culminating in a wintry jump into Lake Michigan.

On the way back to JFK, Melissa meets Angie, a fellow passenger at O’Hare Airport. Angie dreams of changing her life but is too afraid to apply for the management training program. She is a replica of Melissa from a few months ago. Melissa shares her newfound wisdom with Angie, and as she boards her flight home, she receives an email from the Swedish furniture company confirming $17,000 in compensation for her wardrobe incident. She leaves Brian a message about the settlement, saying he has one less child to care for, and ends with a joke about the hypothetical stray children he might have as a result of his fraudulent actions… and Brian plays over that message off the speakerphone in front of his wife. Yes, just when it seems like it’s all coming to an end, tying a touching bow on a fun, feel-good season, How to die alone throws us a few curve balls. Aside from potentially ruining her brother’s marriage, she is attacked by security when Melissa lands at JFK Airport and runs into Terrance’s arms. This time it’s not because she set off the metal detector and is unrecognizable to her colleagues – they know exactly who she is. Cops quickly handcuff Melissa and announce that she is under arrest for forgery, identity theft and grand larceny. It looks like our girl still has a few hurdles to overcome.

2024 NL All-Star Closer Named Red Sox Prime Free Agency Target

2024 NL All-Star Closer Named Red Sox Prime Free Agency Target

There are breakdowns, and then there’s what happened to the Boston Red Sox bullpen after the 2024 All-Star break.

After a decent first half, injuries and lack of production torpedoed the Boston bullpen. Their 5.66 ERA was nearly a run higher than any other team’s in the second half, and they failed to make a total of 21 saves while making just 13 combined.

The Red Sox had a golden opportunity to make the playoffs this season, and relief pitching was a big reason they ended up missing out. And with veteran relievers Kenley Jansen and Chris Martin awaiting lucrative contracts elsewhere in 2025, the front office must work quickly to rebuild the back end of Boston’s bullpen.

A surprising solution was suggested by Zachary Pressnell of FanSided. He suggested the Red Sox could target San Diego Padres left-hander Tanner Scott, who was a 2024 All-Star with the Miami Marlins.

“There are very few high-leverage relievers who can reach Scott’s level,” Pressnell said. “He would be an upgrade over Jansen and the perfect complementary player for the next three or four seasons. He could post an ERA under 2.00 each of the next three or four years.”

Despite moving from Miami to San Diego and switching from a closer role to a setup job, Scott has managed to keep the runs at an elite level. He has allowed just 14 earned runs in 2024, for a 1.75 ERA in 72 innings pitched.

While he doesn’t have the long track record of Jansen or some of the younger veteran closers in the game, Scott’s dominance over the last two seasons is unrivaled compared to his free agent counterparts. He has a 2.04 ERA and 188 strikeouts in 150 innings since the start of 2023.

It’s hard to predict what a fair-market contract would look like for a 30-year-old up-and-coming bullpen star, but the Red Sox need to think about making Scott big. If they don’t meaningfully strengthen the bullpen, they could find themselves in this position again next September.

Fox Weatherman interrupts TV broadcast to save woman trapped in flooded car

Fox Weatherman interrupts TV broadcast to save woman trapped in flooded car

Weatherman Bob Van Dillen probably knew it would be an eventful night for Fox covering Hurricane Helene as the Category 4 storm made landfall, but he couldn’t have imagined just how eventful it would be.

Earlier today in Atlanta, Van Dillen hosted a live national standup against the backdrop of a flooded street.

“You can see here that we have this lady who drove into the flooded area and is now screaming,” he said Fox & friends Studio presenters. After describing the scene for a few more seconds with the sound of the woman’s voice in the background, Van Dillen told the audience, “I just called 911. The fire department is coming.”

He then turned to comfort the woman, assuring her that help was on the way, before stopping his live recording and telling the studio: “It’s a situation. We will contact you shortly. I’ll see if I can help this lady.”

Cut to a video of Van Dillen carrying the woman on his back through chest-deep floodwaters before literally pulling her shirt off her back so she can warm herself.

Van Dillen wasn’t the only hero to brave the storm.

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue helicopter flew into the hurricane to rescue a man and his dog on a wrecked sailboat.

Elsewhere, an Atlanta resident was filmed using a sleeping air mattress as a life raft as rescue workers patrolled and rescued people in chest-high floodwaters.

Tim Ryan gives advice on JD Vance ahead of the Vance-Walz debate

Tim Ryan gives advice on JD Vance ahead of the Vance-Walz debate

Ohio Sen. JD Vance faces his biggest test yet on Tuesday when he meets Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on the debate stage, an opportunity for both vice presidential candidates to set the tone in a closely contested race for the White House .

And it won’t be the first time Vance has taken on a fiery Midwestern Democrat.

Vance debated then-U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan twice when he was running for an Ohio Senate seat in 2022. Back then, the author of “Hillbilly Elegy” was an articulate political newcomer who brought a lot of baggage with him for Ryan to take the stage . Much of this — from Vance’s past criticism of former President Donald Trump to his joke about “childless cat ladies” — is fair game for Walz as he seeks to paint the Trump-Vance ticket in a bad light.

All answers ready, no question papers

All answers ready, no question papers

Teachers claim question papers were leaked online on sites like YouTube hours before exams began

In Davangere In the district, a group of Class 10 students from private schools frightened teachers by submitting answer sheets with correct answers to questions before the question papers were officially distributed.

Teachers in various districts have found that students are accessing leaked question papers through platforms like YouTube and others social media Locations before taking the exams.

This problem is not limited to Davangere; It is believed to be happening in several districts, although students are reportedly keeping quiet about it.

To improve the quality of examinations, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) introduced a centralized system for mailing nursing questionnaires Audit standards. However, ensuring foolproof distribution has proven to be a major challenge. Recent reports have also revealed that some students are arriving at exam centers with pre-written answers in their exam papers rather than blank answer booklets.

The Intermediate examswhich began on September 24 and will continue till October 1, involves about eight lakh SSLC students across the state. While three exams have already been completed, three more are still pending. Teachers claim question papers were leaked online just hours before exams began. Authorities are currently investigating the leak as question paper links are being sent to assistant district principals and school administration credentials. Despite the ongoing concerns, no formal complaints have been made to date.

When contacted, Manjushree N, Chairperson, KSEAB, said that the issue of leaked question papers circulating on social media has been brought to her attention even though no official reports have been filed yet. According to reports, a YouTube channel shared these question papers with students commenting and even asking for leaks for future SSLC exams. A student claimed in a comment that he would sell the work for 400 rupees. It is to be noted that the KSEAB is directly monitoring this year’s SSLC Intermediate exams by preparing and sending the question papers to the logins of the district deputy directors.

These are then forwarded to schools, with question papers available the day before the exam so they can be printed and distributed to students. “The Education Ministry’s decision to send intermediate exam question papers online contradicts previous guidelines. We believe that teachers at individual schools are able to prepare their own papers, which would prevent leaks. Many schools also lack the infrastructure to print papers on-site, increasing the risk of data leaks at photocopy centers. We request the board to conduct final exams safely but allow schools to conduct other exams on-site,” said D. Shashi Kumar, general secretary, Associated Managements of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka.

SEC blockbuster, Georgia at Alabama

SEC blockbuster, Georgia at Alabama

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – On this edition of FFF: We have an SEC heavyweight matchup in Tuscaloosa, Celtic in Scotland is in full swing and Nice Guys Nola is not to be missed.

FOOTBALL

On Saturday I’ll be covering the Tulane-South Florida game. Kick-off is at 11 a.m

For most people, a morning kickoff is not desirable. But for me, I’m all in.

You know, the game ends in the afternoon, so I have plenty of time to get home and play college football’s evening game, and there’s a big event.

The Georgia Bulldogs visit the Alabama Crimson Tide. Get this, Bama is the underdog in this contest.

The Dawgs are a 1-point favorite over the Tide. The last time Alabama was an underdog was in 2007 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

This year the LSU Tigers were the favorites. The Purple and Gold won that game and a national title.

So cancel that date, postpone your dinner plans, it’s time for big SEC football.

FÚTBOL

Celtic Football Club in Scotland is absolutely unstoppable as they begin their 2024-25 season.

The Glasgow club is undefeated in the Scottish Premier League (5-0). They have outscored their opponents 14-0. This also includes a 3-0 win against arch-rivals Rangers without conceding a goal.

In the Champions League they defeated Slovan Bratislava 5-1. The goals were scored by different players, so everyone joins in the celebration.

EAT

On the weekends, Nice Guys Nola on Earhart Blvd always has a line out the door. There is now a second location, Headquarters by NGN. It is located at the old location of the Little Gem Saloon.

I was there last Friday and enjoyed the atmosphere. The music was blaring, but not too loud. Multiple TVs to watch the big game.

But the food was the best part. I topped the fried catfish with Creole crawfish sauce and served it with sizzling potatoes, red beans, and rice.

Everything on the plate was divine. I would recommend everything. It’s just a shame, the price. Lunch is quite expensive at $32, but it was still delicious.
