Rain prevents play on the second day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh

Rain prevents play on the second day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh

KANPUR, India (AP) — Persistent rain again prevented play as the morning session was washed out on the second day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh.

Morning rain on Saturday ensured that Green Park Stadium remained covered and not a single ball was thrown. Lunch was taken as planned with Bangladesh remaining unchanged in the first innings at 107-3 in 35 overs.

All 35 overs were bowled on the first day, which was also marred by rain.

The rain showers eased just before the lunch break, but it remains to be seen whether play will begin in the second session.

On Friday, India won the toss and opted to play a home Test for the first time since 2015.

Akash Deep took 2-34 in 10 overs while Ravichandran Ashwin had 1-22 from nine overs.

Mominul Haque was batting on 40 not out along with Mushfiqur Rahim on 6 not out when bad light and then rain halted play on the first day.

India won the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

Convicted murderer in connection with another murder after prosecutor Gascón charged him as a minor in LA County

Convicted murderer in connection with another murder after prosecutor Gascón charged him as a minor in LA County

“Honestly, it was devastating,” says Cynthia Carrera.

LOS ANGELES – Almost five years ago, Cynthia’s brother Alfredo Carrera and his friend José Flores Velázquez were murdered in South Los Angeles simply because they were on the territory of a rival gang.

None of the men belonged to a gang. Alfredo was about to become a father, and Jose, a student at UCI, had just accepted a job at NASA.

“This was a cold-blooded murder. And it wasn’t just one person; two innocent people lost their lives for no reason,” Carrera said.

Seventeen-year-old Shanice Dyer, a member of the East Coast Crips, was charged with first-degree murder by then-District Attorney Jackie Lacey and was scheduled to be tried as an adult. However, that changed when George Gascón took office in 2020.

“The public needs to know what’s going on,” said Michele Hanisee, president of the Association of Deputy District Attorneys in LA County. She explains: “One of the many blanket policies that Gascón implemented on his first day in office was that no crime committed by a juvenile – no matter the circumstances – would ever be referred to adult court.”

As a result, Shanice Dyer was tried as a juvenile. Although she was convicted of two murders, she served less than four years in prison. “It’s still very difficult. And now we find out that this person committed another crime and did this to another family,” Carrera said.

The same woman who killed Alfredo and Jose is now accused of murder again, allegedly as an accessory to the murder of 21-year-old Joshua Streeter. Retired Los Angeles District Attorney Kathy Cady, now a victim advocate, says: “George Gascón refuses to accept responsibility for the fact that his policies led to this murder. He hides behind explanations that make no sense.” Carrera adds: “Gascón’s reform aimed to rehabilitate people and give them a second chance, but since the incident no one has cared about the victims. Nobody ever asked, ‘What can we do for you?'”

George Gascón declined our request for an interview, but his office released the following statement:

“Our hearts break for the victim and his family. This is an unimaginable tragedy. However, it is very unlikely that Ms Dyer would have been placed under any administration. According to the law, there are five factors that a juvenile court would have considered” and weighed in deciding whether Ms. Dyer could remain in the juvenile justice system. Of these five factors, only one factor, the circumstances and seriousness of the offence, supported transfer to adult court. Given this, it is highly unlikely that Ms Dyer would have been transferred to the juvenile justice system even if the court had held a transfer hearing.

  1. She was under the influence of adult men and acted at their direction, suggesting that she did not display a high level of criminal sophistication;
  2. your lack of a serious criminal history at this time;
  3. The amount of time and opportunities that remained at that point to rehabilitate her in the juvenile justice system; And
  4. The lack of any previous opportunities to rehabilitate them in the juvenile justice system.

In March 2022, LADA’s Juvenile Alternative Charging Evaluation Committee (JACE) was founded. Since then, 23 adult court transfer requests have been approved by JACE.

  • Of the approved cases, five JACE cases were heard in juvenile court.
  • Four JACE transfer requests were rejected by the court.
  • 1 JACE transfer request was granted by the court.
  • 1 JACE transfer application is currently still in progress.

The GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition features a dual-slot design, which is impressive for a 600W GPU

The GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition features a dual-slot design, which is impressive for a 600W GPU

For those excited to learn more about the next generation of GeForce RTX 50 series cards, it’s been a wild week of leaks from trusted insiders and sources. NVIDIA leaker @kopeite7kimi on

The GeForce RTX 5090 Founder Edition will feature a dual-slot cooler and construction.

VIEW GALLERY – 2 PICTURES

With rumors suggesting that these new flagship GPU specs will be “locked in” sometime in September 2024, the likelihood that this information is true is high. As previously reported, the GeForce RTX 5090 will be an absolute beast – 21,760 CUDA cores, 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus, and a confirmed power consumption or power rating of 600W.

The Blackwell flagship is also equipped with the GB202-300-A1 chip. The GB203-400-A1 GeForce RTX 5080, on the other hand, will be a little more down-to-earth, with 10,752 CUDA cores, 16GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus and a power rating of 400W.

Since the flagship RTX 5090 consumes 600W, there has been a lot of speculation about how it will be cooled and how a single 12V 2×6 power cable would work when it reaches 600W. Rumor has it that OC models require two 12V 2×6 power cables and new power supplies with two 12V 2×6 connectors. The GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition is expected to feature a single 12V 2×6 port and a compact dual-slot cooler.

Okay, that last detail may sound far-fetched, especially when flagship GPUs have gotten larger over the years because more power means more heat. But this is something @kopeite7kimi has been talking about for a while: a complete redesign of the GeForce RTX 50 series coolers, at least from NVIDIA’s perspective. This means that the GeForce RTX 5090 will be a dual-slot GPU. When asked about the cooler design after releasing the specs and confirming the 600W power rating, @kopeite7kimi replied that these specs for the GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 still include the dual-slot cooler.

It’s pretty impressive and it will be interesting to see the thermals of a 600W GPU without a huge three or four slot heatsink design. Additionally, it will be interesting to see how NVIDIA’s partners such as ASUS, MSI and GIGABYTE approach the RTX 50 series – will we also see smaller cards come to market or the same huge beasts?

Football fan rafts through Helene’s floodwaters to a friend so they can go to the game together

Football fan rafts through Helene’s floodwaters to a friend so they can go to the game together

ATLANTA (WSB) – College football is a way of life for some fans.

That’s why someone in Atlanta didn’t let the flooding stop him from taking his buddy to a big game.

On Friday, rapid water rescue teams put a boat into the floodwaters in northwest Atlanta to bring several Hanover West families to shore and to safety.

However, there was one final rescue that did not involve Atlanta Fire and Rescue, but rather a best friend with the motivation to take his buddy to the biggest college football game of the season in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

“I woke up this morning and looked outside and couldn’t see my front yard and my car was flooded,” said Peter, a University of Georgia football fan. “And I thought, ‘Yeah, I don’t think I can pick you up. You can all go without me.’ And he said, ‘Well, I think we’ll go to Tuscaloosa anyway.’ So he said, ‘I’ll buy a raft and pick you up.'”

That’s exactly what Ben Posner did.

He called several Dick’s Sporting Goods in the area until he found one that had a raft.

It took nearly 30 minutes and multiple attempts to get enough air into the raft, but Posner actually saved his buddy.

“I’m never nervous,” Posner said when asked if he was afraid of getting caught in the flood.

Stormy weather and high flooding couldn’t stand in the way of these two dedicated best friends who love the Georgia Bulldogs.

Stormy weather and high flooding couldn’t stand in the way of these two dedicated best friends who love the Georgia Bulldogs.

“It’s a dedication, not just to me, but to the love of college football,” Peter said.

As they like to say in the SEC, it just means more and these two Bulldog fans proved that.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs have a chance to beat No. 4 Alabama by one point.

Check-in is at 5:00 p.m. 30 euros for an “instrument petting zoo” where the audience can try out all kinds of musical instruments before the concert. The group will perform themes from “Harry Potter,” “Jurassic Park,” “James Bond,” “Rocky,” “The Addams Family,” Pixar, “The Pink Panther,” “Mary Poppins” and more.

The concert will be directed by Bedford native Shannen Billie, who joined the Bedford Middle School staff this year as choir director.

“My hope for this concert is that every audience member can find something they can relate to,” Billie said. “I consciously chose a wide variety of music in order to appeal to as many people as possible. In my opinion this will be by far our best concert. Every single member has worked so hard and we have grown so much as a group. I’m very proud of the work we’ve done and I can’t wait to share it with the community.”

“We are very pleased to be able to perform in the high school auditorium this time,” said Karen Semanek, president of the symphony orchestra. “Capacity is more than double that of any venue we have played in to date and this will allow us to provide more affordable seating for children. We want to expand our audience to include a new generation of symphonic music lovers. In the year and a half since our founding, we have been filled to capacity at each of our performances, and that will give us room for more spectators. We want to encourage people to bring their whole family.”

Tickets are $5 for children under 18 and $20 for adults and can be purchased online at Eventbrite.com or Give.cfalleghenies.org/movies2024 and in person at the Bedford County Library, Soaring Eagle Productions in Bedford or at the To be purchased at the box office show.

The group also sponsors free violin, viola, cello and bass violin lessons for local residents. They are always looking for new members and encourage anyone who played in the high school band to pull out their old instruments, dust them off and attend rehearsals at Zion Lutheran Church in Everett on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

“The minimum requirement for participation is that a player is able to play on time and on time, otherwise everyone is welcome,” Semanek said. “We want to continue to grow our group of musicians in the community.” To join, sign up for classes or call 814-977-0537 for more information.

The University of Wisconsin fires the porn industry’s former chancellor, who wanted to stay on as a professor

The University of Wisconsin fires the porn industry’s former chancellor, who wanted to stay on as a professor

The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents voted unanimously Friday to fire a communications professor who wanted to keep his job after he was fired as chancellor of one of the system’s campuses for producing pornographic films. Joe Gow, who had served as UW-La Crosse’s chancellor for nearly 17 years, argued last week that he should be retained in a teaching position on campus. But the university’s lawyers argued that he behaved unethically, violated the terms of his employment contract, damaged the university’s reputation and compromised its mission. The regents met in closed session Friday morning before publicly voting to fire Gow. There was no public discussion before the board vote. Gow said he is considering filing a lawsuit to keep his teaching job. He did not immediately respond to a message Friday morning. Gow has been on paid leave from his faculty position since the regents fired him as chancellor in 2023, shortly after university leaders became aware of the videos posted on pornographic websites. The case has drawn national attention both for the salaciousness of a high-ranking university official making pornographic films and speaking publicly about them and for the questions it raises about free speech rights. Gow argued that his videos and two e-books he and his wife Carmen have published about their experiences in adult films are protected by the First Amendment. The university’s attorney argued that Gow’s videos themselves were legal, but that they were not protected by his employment contract. Zach Greenberg, an attorney at the free speech advocacy group Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, called the regents’ decision “a major blow to…” academic freedom and the right to free speech.” “FIRE has said time and time again: Public universities cannot sacrifice the First Amendment to protect their reputation,” Greenberg said. “We are disappointed that the UW has caved to donors and politicians by alienating a tenured professor.” Republican lawmakers already view the Wisconsin university system as a liberal incubator. Last year they forced the company to scale back its diversity initiatives. System President Jay Rothman has tried to avoid further angering conservatives as he seeks approval for an $855 million increase in the next state budget. Gow’s hope of teaching in the classroom again was rejected by his department head, Linda Dickmeyer. She said because Gow hasn’t taught in 20 years, he will be assigned general education courses, but she refuses to allow him to return to teaching in any role. Gow was criticized in 2018 for inviting porn actress Nina Hartley to give a talk on campus. She received $5,000 from tuition fees for her performance. He came up with the idea of bringing her to campus after filming a pornographic video with her, the university said. Gow and his wife’s e-books were written under the pseudonyms “Monogamy with Benefits: How Porn Enhances Our Relationships” and “Married with Benefits.” Our real-life adventures in the adult industry.” But they also star in a YouTube channel called “Sexy Healthy Cooking,” in which the couple cooks meals with porn actors.

Donald Trump attends two-hour dinner with Keir Starmer and praises ‘popular’ PM

Donald Trump attends two-hour dinner with Keir Starmer and praises ‘popular’ PM

Donald Trump attended a two-hour dinner with Sir Keir Starmer after heaping praise on the “popular” prime minister.

The former president said Sir Keir ran a “great” campaign before they met for the first time at Trump Tower in New York.

The prime minister asked for the meeting as he wants to build relations with the Republican candidate ahead of the US election in November.

He had also hoped to meet Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, but said that was not possible due to scheduling issues.

“He ran a great race”

Asked what he thought of Sir Keir, Trump joked: “Well, I’m going to see him in about an hour, so I’ll have to be nice!”

Then he added: “I actually think he’s very nice. He ran a great race, he did very well, it’s still very early, he’s very popular.”

The Republican candidate also praised Nigel Farage and said his Reform Party deserved to win more seats.

Reform received 14.3 percent of the vote in the July election, the third-highest share in the country, but widespread support meant it only got five MPs.

In contrast, the Liberal Democrats, who received 12.2 percent, secured 72 seats as their vote was heavily concentrated in parts of the south.

Mr Trump said: “I think Nigel is great, I’ve known him for a long time. He also had a great election and won a lot of seats, more seats than he was actually entitled to.

“They admitted he won, but for some reason there’s a weird system over there, you could win them but you can’t get them.”

Sir Keir was in New York for the UN General Assembly, where he gave a major speech denouncing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The college football team is stranded on buses on the flooded highway due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene

The college football team is stranded on buses on the flooded highway due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene

A college football team was stranded on buses in the middle of a flooded North Carolina highway Friday evening as Hurricane Helene continued to cause flash flooding in several southeastern states.

The team, East Tennessee State University (ETSU), was on its way to a game in Charlston to face The Citadel. But the team’s buses only made it to Exit 44 on I-26 when they encountered flood water and had to pull over to the side of the road.

“We have been stuck on our buses outside of Asheville since 11 a.m. today because of the flooding. We were on our way to Charleston to play The Citadel tomorrow at 2 p.m. but are stuck tonight sleeping on the buses in the parking lot,” ETSU quarterbacks coach Tyler Dell said in a text message to Clay Travis from OutKick. “…No hotels with capacity or electricity and no food nearby. We had no cell service all day and it’s still down across the entire area.”

The team’s head coach, Tre Lamb, said the team was finally able to get out of the “flood trap” after 14 hours.

“It got very scary for a few hours on a low plain, we had to find high ground. Thank you to our bus drivers, athletic trainers, staff and officers who kept everyone calm,” he wrote in a post on X.

Lamb said a random stranger drove the buses to the shelter and later told them the highway was open. He said they had no access to any information.

“We have yet to speak with families or loved ones, but we are on the move and ready to play @Citadel1842 whenever they choose,” Lamb wrote. “Prayers for all those affected. What a terrible storm we saw firsthand. Lots of stranded families.”

Hurricane Helene has already resulted in the postponement or cancellation of more than one other college football game this weekend. The storm was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone.

Furman University postponed its matchup against Samford, while Appalachian State canceled its scheduled game against Liberty, indicating the program had no intention of postponing the game.

Floods have been one of the greatest destructive forces the hurricane, It began along the Florida coast long before Hurricane Helene made landfall and reported rapidly rising waters as far away as Fort Myers on the state’s Gulf Coast. FOX Weather’s Ian Oliver said the high tide quickly inundated the streets around St. Pete Beach on Thursday evening and the high tide was still several hours away.

The hurricane made landfall Florida’s Big Bend region, after becoming a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane with winds of 140 miles per hour. The massive hurricane unleashed a potentially “unsurvivable” height of 20 feet storm surge, catastrophic hurricane-force winds and flooding.
