Will Tirrell, No. 10 Franklin, defeated No. 6 Duxbury in the final seconds

Will Tirrell, No. 10 Franklin, defeated No. 6 Duxbury in the final seconds

FRANKLIN – With everything on the line and the final seconds ticking away Friday night, Franklin senior quarterback Will Tirrell made a last-minute decision to run into the end zone.

Tirrell darted from left to right, beat two Duxbury defenders, kept the ball out and accelerated into the end zone with two seconds left. His 4-yard touchdown run gave the No. 10 Panthers a thrilling 21-19 victory over the visiting Dragons.

“There wasn’t a single kid out here that gave up,” Franklin coach Todd Kiley said. “There wasn’t a kid who didn’t believe we were going to win that football game.”

The Panthers (3-1) erased an early 13-0 hole in the first half, then rallied from a 19-14 deficit with 1:50 to go to prevail. Quarterback Justin Bianchetto (19 for 34 passes, 236 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) orchestrated an 86-yard drive and found Stephon Reed (6 catches, 101 yards) for a critical 40-yard catch and run for the ball to bring into the goal 4.

Tirrell took care of the rest, defeating the No. 6 Dragons (3-1) and ending their 14-game winning streak.

“It was unthinkable how we got back,” Tirrell said. “I want to say that we had Anthony Gates, No. 11, with us. That’s why we did it.”

Gates, a former member of the Panthers, died in a car accident in June 2023 at the age of 16. Tirrell said the Panthers think about him every day and always play with him.

Kiley, who is in his first year at Franklin, knows the Dragons from his time in Holliston. He and Duxbury coach Matt Landolfi knew nothing would come easy for either side.

“It was a great high school football game,” Landolfi said. “We fought the whole time.”

Duxbury jumped into the lead late in the first quarter on a 5-yard rush from Jack Rees, thanks in part to a strong block from John Rovegno. The Dragons took a 6-0 lead into the second and extended the lead to 13-0 on a 21-yard pass from Brady Rhinesmith to Jake Falls with 10:32 left in the half.

Duxbury tight end Jake Falls gallops untouched into the end zone and scores the Dragons’ second touchdown of the night on Friday at Franklin. MARK STOCKWELL FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE

Trevor Jones intercepted a Franklin pass, but a poor punt set up a 31-yard shot from Bianchetto to Chase Kiriacopoulos with 48 seconds before halftime. The Dragons dictated most of the action, but the Panthers were within striking distance heading into the third period.

Tirrell gave Franklin a 14-13 lead with 5:19 to play with a 1-yard plunge. Ian McNeil gave the Dragons a 19-14 lead on a 26-yard pass from Jones, but the Panthers found a way out in dramatic fashion.

Fans stormed the field and flooded Tirrell & Co. with a sea of yellow. As the celebration continued, a “Willy T” chant rang out.

“The night was electric,” Kiley said. “It really was.”

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Francesca Capaldi Describes Her ‘Skunk Puppet’ Role in Her New Film ‘Stinky Summer’

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Francesca Capaldi Describes Her ‘Skunk Puppet’ Role in Her New Film ‘Stinky Summer’

actress Francesca Capaldi gave a review of her latest film Stinky summer in her new uInterview.

Capaldi discussed how her character fits into the plot. “I play Emily, the eldest sister in the family,” she told the uInterview founder Erik Meers. “Emily is a little bit – she’s a rule follower, she follows the rules, she’s a bookworm and she kind of does her part in keeping the family together because they’re all very busy and lead very chaotic lives.” So she definitely takes on the role of mother to her older sister and her younger sisters.”

Summing up the film, Capaldi stated, “It’s a super fun movie about a girl and…a skunk who somehow crashes the party on the way to summer camp.”

“And there are some international spies who are after her father’s software that was mistakenly given to her,” said Capaldi, who first rose to fame on the series Disney show “Dog With A Blog.”added: “So there are really fun camp adventures and it’s a really fun movie.”

Reflecting on her time on set, Capaldi shared: “It was such a fun experience, it was such a great cast and honestly I was only there for a short time, I think I was there for about three weeks and that “It was really action-packed the whole time, but it was super, super fun.”

Capaldi shared her favorite moments on and off production: “Her favorite memory on set will probably be the campsite; I never got to go to summer camp, so it was like living the experience. And it was really fun, we got to do a lot of night shots back then, especially the big scene where we finally have our full encounter with the spies.”

Capaldi continued: “[My favorite off-screen moment was] Every time we had to do a scene with the skunk doll, it was just so fun because, you know… getting to play with a skunk doll, that is – not many people can say they have to do that!”

Reflecting on what attracted her to the film, Capaldi said: “In a way, this film is very silly, being someone who is a bit more calm and grounded. I thought it was so fun to get to play this character. And I was drawn to the film because… it sounded like a mix of… The parent trap and then a little of the adventures of Home aloneand only issues on which they cannot get their act together.”

Stinky summer can be streamed on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Fandango and Google Play.

Here’s what you need to know about your spare tire

Here’s what you need to know about your spare tire

A flat tire is always annoying, but a spare tire can help you get back on the road quickly. However, even if you have a spare tire, it may not be operational or safe when needed. Consumer Reports reveals what you need to know before a tire emergency occurs.

According to Consumer Reports, safety is the number one priority when a flat tire occurs. You should pull off the road as far as possible in a safe area.

Next, you’ll want to have a space-saving spare tire, affectionately known as a “doughnut.” It has long since replaced the full-size spare wheel in most passenger cars. If you’re lucky, it might be years before you need one, but it shouldn’t be forgotten.

Your spare tire expires just like your other four tires. You heard right. Replacement tires expire. The last two digits of the DOT number on the sidewall of the donut tire indicate the year the tire was manufactured. If it is more than ten years old, replace it.

Of course, a replacement tire only works if it is properly inflated. Check the pressure and condition of your spare tire every time you check the pressure of your other tires and refill as necessary.

Only 40% of new cars have a spare wheel. Manufacturers remove it to reduce production costs and reduce weight to reduce fuel consumption. So don’t assume you have one.

Instead, you’ll likely be given an air compressor or a can of tire sealant that you can use to repair a damaged tire and take it to a repair shop where it can be repaired or replaced.

Some cars, mostly luxury models, are equipped with run-flat tires that allow you to drive a certain distance, usually 50 miles, at moderate speeds – enough to get you home or to a service center for a replacement. You should not drive around with these tires or a patched tire as it is not a permanent solution.

Another important tip from CR is that no matter the solution to your car’s flat tire, you should learn to use it before you need it. You may need to use it in rain, darkness or other difficult circumstances.

LeBron James: Duke’s Cooper Flagg becomes “big-time player” for US basketball | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

LeBron James: Duke’s Cooper Flagg becomes “big-time player” for US basketball | News, results, highlights, statistics and rumors

LeBron James has high regard for Duke forward Cooper Flagg, the top prospect in the high school class of 2024 who will make his debut with the Blue Devils in October. In fact, James predicted that Flagg would excel on the international stage and would one day be a “big player” for Team USA.

James made his comments in response to a question during an exclusive interview conducted by Brian O’Keefe esquirewho asked, “When you, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry retire from international basketball, do you think the United States will still be able to beat the best in the rest of the world?”

“Yes, absolutely. It’s about the farm system and the continued support of the younger generation. And we have so much great talent in our league right now. They have Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum; You have Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren, these young guys are coming into the rankings; Cooper Flagg will be a big player here in the future. So there’s definitely a lot of great young talent aspiring to become an Olympic athlete.”

Flagg and the Select Team notably played against James and Team USA’s Olympic team in Las Vegas before the Americans went to Paris, compiled a 6-0 record and won the country’s fifth straight gold medal in men’s basketball at the Summer Games. The Select team almost managed a comeback, but narrowly failed at 74:73.

Flag received big praise for his efforts, so it’s no surprise that James, having seen him in person, offered even more here.

Flagg appears to be one of the NBA’s top draft prospects in recent memory. The hype certainly leads to that.

And he could very well live up to that hype and become a transformative player at the next level, one who turns around a franchise and becomes an international star like James did with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Here’s what Duke head coach Jon Scheyer, who won a national title with the Blue Devils in 2010, had to say about Flagg.

“I’ve seen a lot of different seasons, different hypes, different expectations,” Scheyer said, according to ESPN’s David Hale. “And with Cooper, I don’t know if we’ve ever had a 17-year-old that got so much hype and attention. We talk about all the things we can control and that’s what we focus on. Cooper, I don’t.” I don’t think he likes all the attention, to be honest. All he cares about is being like the others – he wants to win, wants to keep up. And he’s done a great job with it all.”

Currently, Flagg is the clear leading candidate for the No. 1 pick in the draft. Jonathan Wasserman said this in a mock draft for Bleacher Report after this year’s Olympics.

“There is no doubt that Flagg is the target of all rebuilding teams right now. Anticipation of his eligibility has been building for two years, and the hype/expectations reached new levels after he received rave reviews for his play and competitiveness against the U.S. Olympic squad last month.

“His identity revolves around two-way versatility and athleticism, but the gradual, consistent development on the ball that he has shown has raised the bar and his theoretical ceiling.”

“At the baseline, he will produce and impact plays simply by utilizing his special physical skills, IQ, signature defensive instincts and motor skills. But it’s the burgeoning creativity, pick-and-roll ball handling and shooting variety that will set Flagg apart at No. 1 and attract NBA superstar predictions.”

Maybe he’ll become an NBA superstar who goes on to become one of the faces of Team USA. He could well help lead the team at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

For now, however, Flagg leads the Blue Devils, who begin their season on Oct. 19 against Division II Lincoln University.

“But why? What’s the point?” Lakewood residents are fed up with yard theft

“But why? What’s the point?” Lakewood residents are fed up with yard theft

LAKEWOOD, Ohio – Police are searching for the person who stole garden items and Little Free Libraries in Lakewood and say they have seen an increase in thefts.

Last month we told you about cleaning up the Little Free Libraries.

Lakewood residents are stunned and frustrated by petty free library thefts

RELATED: Lakewood residents are stunned and frustrated by petty free library thefts

Now they’re targeting garden items, including a bench and a woman’s fairy garden.

According to Danielle Antosz, who owns a fairy garden, a fairy garden is meant to be a whimsical place that inspires curiosity and conveys magical happiness.

“There are just so many bad things happening in the world and something so small that it makes people smile. “The kids like to come and look at it… it makes me happy, like it’s just supposed to bring joy,” Antosz said.

Earlier this week someone decided to get this out of their front yard.

“We had a dinosaur that ate dwarves… and they took that. They took a rabbit with them. I honestly lost track of all the stuff they took, but three or four of the larger items,” Antosz said.

Antosz’s garden used to have several large pieces. Now only small decorations remain. She had a message for the person in charge.

“But why? What’s the point? I hope it was worth it. I hope you stub your toe on everything,” Danielle said.

This isn’t the first theft in Lakewood.

In August, the Little Free Libraries – including Antosz’s – were cleaned up. News 5 spoke with a man whose entire library was stolen. After he replaced them, they returned and took his bench.

“It seems to me like a lot of times perpetrators are walking around, seeing things in people’s yards and just going up and taking them,” said Lakewood Police Capt. Gary Stone.

Stone says they’ve seen an increase in yard thefts recently.

“Some of this seems like theft, where the person can sell some of these things for money at a later date. It can also be young people who dare and do things like that,” said Stone.

The department is increasing patrols and keeping an eye out for people walking around with suspicious items to prevent thefts.

Antosz is still shocked that someone would do something like that.

“Honestly, it broke my heart. I know it’s a small thing, but it’s not. There is no value,” Antosz said.

She posted about the theft on Facebook, to which the community reacted with outrage. People began donating items to bring their enchanted space back to life.

“People have been coming over all week, which makes me really happy,” Antosz said.

She has transformed her garden by installing cameras to protect her garden. She stamped the covers of the books in her Little Free Library and crossed out the barcodes so they couldn’t be resold.

Police say it’s a good idea to conduct surveillance, keep an eye on your garden plots and report any theft to the police.
