The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to enjoy popularity, thanks to new releases both released in theaters and streamed with a Disney+ subscription. The latest film to hit theaters is Deadpool and Wolverine, which broke records upon its release. The threequel got away with a lot of NSFW content, but Ryan Reynolds confirms that Kevin Feige asked him to remove a line.

Fans who had watched the Marvel films for years were originally worried about how Deadpool would work in the shared universe, but luckily Shawn Levy’s blockbuster still had the same R-rated tone. But Levy and Reynolds have a canceled joke that will take them to their graves. Reynolds talks about the one joke that got cut at the Fast Company Innovation Festival (via Deadline). In his words:

There was only one line in the entire film that I was told to take out. No. No. No! And they were right!

Talk about perspective. While one might have assumed Reynolds wasn’t trying to joke Deadpool and WolverineHe seems to admit that Kevin Feige had the right idea. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if we’ll ever know what exactly that joke was.

Considering how much money Deadpool 3 made, especially after box office bombs like The miraclesFans expect Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman to have a big impact on upcoming Marvel films. And I’ll take Kevin Feige’s note as one Deadpool and Wolverine Wit is just one way to maintain that collaboration.

In the same appearance, Reynolds spoke more about the decision to cut a joke from the third Dead Pool Flick and says:

As soon as someone says something like, “It’s Ryan, Bob Iger.” I would love it if you took that one line out. It’s going to make life really difficult for us here.’ As soon as they say that, something tells me, ‘Gotta toe the line! Precious!’ And once the fog of war clears and you have a second thought, you think, “Of course I can take that out.” Can I say something about Pinocchio instead? And the answer is yes!

While some fans (and perhaps even Ryan Reynolds) were nervous about how Deadpool’s R-rated sensibilities would translate to the MCU, the third film definitely didn’t hold back. We’ve got lots of F-bombs, wild jokes and gory violence. There’s only one joke that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut at the studio’s behest.

Only time will tell how the Merc with a Mouth will factor into future MCU projects. But fans are looking forward to possible crossovers, hopefully as part of a big blockbuster like Avengers: End of the World. We’ll just have to wait and see if the cut joke from the threequel is revealed at some point.

The next MCU film is coming to theaters Captain America: Brave New World on February 14th. For now, check out the films’ 2025 release dates.

He jokingly says, “We’re not investment bankers with our $10,000 suits and $100,000 watches,” and then shows off his Garmin, a slightly more expensive smartwatch. He then adds that the watch he is wearing is “very understated.” Before he ends the clip, he makes a few funny comments.

According to Jiang’s LinkedIn, he is a technical program manager at Google and co-founder and CEO of Fitscovery.

How did the phrase go viral?

The TikTok share was initially lost in the sea of thousands of other posts, but grew in popularity as celebrities began sharing videos as part of the trend.

The viral phrase made Jools Lebron a social media sensation. She is reportedly looking forward to trademarking the use. She has registered the trademark “very reserved, very mindful” for various entertainment and advertising services.

The victims of Hurricane Helene deserve better than silly political arguments

The victims of Hurricane Helene deserve better than silly political arguments

My heart breaks for the people of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, whose experience with Hurricane Helene was a flood of biblical proportions. This is not an empty expression of compassion. It arises from the memory of the first time I walked through my home in New Orleans, which was flooded eight feet after the city’s floodwalls collapsed during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

One of the worst things about flooding is hearing other people’s opinions about what it all means politically.

The smell of water and rotting food in refrigerators and freezers. The soft feel of wet drywall and warped, soggy floors. The shock of seeing all sorts of fungus and mold growing on the walls – and somehow even on the ceiling fans. The pain of finding a lifetime’s worth of books, snapshots, and family heirlooms in a soggy heap on the floor.

While it’s not as bad as all of a person’s belongings rotting on the side of the road, there’s something scarier about a flood than hearing other people’s opinions about why you were flooded or what it all means politically. You’ve lived in a place that’s too low. They lived in a place controlled by the Republican Party. Or from the other side: They should have chosen a more conservative Christian place that God wouldn’t hit with a storm.

Such simple-minded arguments spread across social media this weekend and are depressingly easy to find. Comments ranged from people who said North Carolinians got what they expected because the state typically elects Republicans for president, to people who said Asheville got what they expected because it far is more liberal than the rest of the USA.

Regardless of the political persuasion that advances the argument, it is based on the idea that some people deserve catastrophe and that some people are smart enough to avoid such a catastrophe while others do not.

It is also based on the argument that flooding can only be expected in certain places – at odds with the reality that flooding is the most common disaster in the US – places that are easy for reasonable people to avoid.

Damaged homes in Horseshoe Beach, Florida, on Saturday after Hurricane Helene made landfall. Chandan Khanna/AFP via Getty Images

According to the Department of Homeland Security, “Ninety percent of natural disasters in the United States involve flooding.” Consequently, floods cause more economic damage and loss of life and property than any other natural hazard.” Pew reported in 2022: “It has occurred since 2000 On average, the United States experiences at least one flood on almost 300 days per year. The NOAA [National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration] The database also shows that all 50 states and the District of Columbia experienced flooding in 2021.”

In January 2014, more than a year after Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey and New York and more than eight years after Hurricane Katrina, I stood with Tom Ashbrook, then host of the NPR show “On Point,” who was recording on a stage performing his show in front of a live audience in New Orleans.

When I noted that the subsidized National Flood Insurance Program was struggling and instead advocated for some kind of catastrophic insurance that would spread the risk and attract disaster-prone people from across the country, the moderator made an argument on behalf of the people who could join one oppose such a proposal? He said: “If you’re sitting on a mountaintop and thinking about the coast and thinking about how serious the threat of sea level rise is and what it might cost to underpin that, you might not want to pay for it.”

According to the Department of Homeland Security, “Ninety percent of natural disasters in the United States involve flooding.”

“There was a flood in Colorado last summer,” I said. “Just a few years ago there was a flood in Nashville, Tennessee. Flooding is the most common natural disaster in the United States, and I would like people to stop thinking of it as just a Louisiana problem.”

Although I already knew that a place as hilly as Asheville could flood, it was still shocking that a hurricane that first hit the Gulf Coast would be the cause. (I say “a” cause because a so-called 1,000-year storm had already dumped up to eight inches of water on Asheville before Helene arrived.)

I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how scary it is that storms explode in strength before they make landfall. But I hadn’t considered that stronger storms hitting the coasts could lead to stronger storms and scarier rains far inland.

KD Minor, an organizer who launched a relief effort for people in her native Lake Charles, Louisiana, after that area of southwest Louisiana was hit by two hurricanes (Laura and Delta) in six weeks in 2020, wrote on Sunday on X: “The climate catastrophe has no address.”

The climate catastrophe also doesn’t care who you vote for in November, or whether you’re gay, or whether you live at sea level or high above. It affects us all.

If that’s not a reason to try to heal the climate, I don’t know what is.

Victor Wembanyama dwarfs ‘tiny’ Chris Paul in first Spurs photos together

Victor Wembanyama dwarfs ‘tiny’ Chris Paul in first Spurs photos together

Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs sensation, is described as an “alien” due to his unearthly size and agility at 7 feet 2 inches tall. The NBA rookie of the year makes almost everyone look small.

That photo taken during the Olympics, when Team USA star Stephen Curry shot over the French giant’s outstretched arms, is still crazy.

RELATED: The 1.90 meter tall Cameron Brink wears black next to the much taller ex-WNBA star in Paris

What’s even scarier is that Wembanyama revealed that he gained 25 pounds this offseason to bulk up.

Now the 20-year-old basketball star center with a shoe size of 20.5 is teaming up with NBA legend Chris Paul, who is in his 20th season. Paul came from the Golden State Warriors and is known for his passing skills, which work perfectly when Wembanyama rolls to the rim.

The two met for Spurs Media Day and the huge height difference is breathtaking. Paul is 1.80 meters tall and looks up to Wembanyama like a child looks up to his average-sized father.

Here are other perspectives from the two:

RELATED: Dikembe Mutombo’s son writes heartbreaking tribute after his father’s death

This is shocking. It’s not quite as bad as that moment at the Olympics with 5-on-4 Yuki Togashi of Japan, but considering the size of an NBA player who averages over 6 feet, it’s shocking.

While Paul is no Togashi or Muggsy Bogues, who was the shortest NBA player in history at 5’7″, he still looks like an average person in the Wembanyama zip code.

Wembanyama finished his rookie season averaging 21.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and a league-leading 3.6 blocks per game. Paul now averaged 9.2 and had 6.8 assists off the bench with the Warriors.

It will be fun when the Spurs season begins on October 24 and the two really play together, with Wembanyam certainly going to “look up” to the veteran Paul on the pitch.

NFL rules protect Jets from further embarrassment amid unresolved Haason Reddick saga

NFL rules protect Jets from further embarrassment amid unresolved Haason Reddick saga

The New York Jets attempted to bolster their defense by signing outside linebacker Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles for a conditional third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. At the time, the trade was glossed over by the national media during a busy offseason. Since then, the transaction has become one of the most bizarre deals in NFL history.

Reddick was looking for an “adjustment” on his expiring contract, which was one of the main reasons Philadelphia traded the pass rusher and the Jets were able to acquire him at a relatively low cost. When teams trade a player as part of a contract dispute, they typically set the terms of a new deal before completing the trade. New York inexplicably failed to do this before acquiring Reddick.

The Jets decided they would not negotiate until a player reported to camp, and Reddick decided he would not report until a new deal was finalized. With neither side willing to budge, Reddick never contacted his new team and officially requested a trade in August.

On a recent episode of the Flight Deck podcast, ESPN’s Rich Cimini expressed that Reddick may be ready to return to Philadelphia.

“Let’s put it this way: A little birdie told me that I don’t think Reddick would be against something like that,” Cimini said. “I think Reddick is so frustrated with the Jets’ situation – and of course he requested a trade in August – that he wouldn’t mind going back to Philadelphia. A lot of things would have to fit together, huh.” That’s a bit of a stretch, but it’s still an interesting situation to look at.

Even if Reddick was willing to return to Philadelphia, it would be impossible for the Jets to trade him back to the Eagles. Luckily for New York, the NFL rulebook would save them from humiliation. As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted, NFL rules prohibit teams from acquiring a player back in a trade for two years after initially trading him away.

The NFL and NFLPA collective bargaining agreement states: “A player who has been traded may not return to the club that made such action until the expiration of two seasons, including the season of the year in which he left the club has taken hold.”

There are exceptions to the rule:

None of these exceptions apply in this scenario, so the only way for the Eagles to re-acquire Reddick would be as a free agent. At this point, there is no reason in New York to release him. Reddick will be fined $800,000 for each game he misses and could lose over $21 million over the course of the season. If he fails to report and record an accrued season, his rights for the 2025 season would still belong to the Jets.

In 2023, Reddick received a run defense grade of 63.7 from Pro Football Focus. Despite ranking 45th among all qualified edge rushers, the seven-year veteran also recorded the 14th most snaps and excelled against pulling guards and gap schemes. According to Shane Haff of Edge of Philly Sports, Reddick recorded 13 tackles for loss and had an average tackle depth of 0.4 yards.

Reddick was scheduled to make $14.2 million in 2024, which was the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles in 2022.

Bill Maher shocked by MSNBC’s softball interview with Kamala Harris: I didn’t expect them to ‘rub her feet’

“Real Time” host Bill Maher appeared shocked by MSNBC’s softball interview with Vice President Kamala Harris and took a dig at his latest guest, Stephanie Ruhle.

“I’m working on strengthening myself [Harris’] She was under a lot of pressure because of her vulnerabilities. She doesn’t do interviews. She doesn’t answer [questions]- So she sat for an interview. She said, ‘Okay, I’ll answer your tough questions.’ So she went on MSNBC,” Maher joked during his opening monologue Friday night.

“There were questions that weren’t quite as hard-hitting, but I still didn’t expect them to rub her feet,” the liberal moderator added, drawing laughter from his audience.

MSNBC’s STEPHANIE RUHLE flatters HARRIS, says non-answers are ‘OK’: THESE ARE NOT ‘CLEAR AND DIRECT PROBLEMS’

Ruhle appeared on “Real Time” just days before she landed the interview with the vice president in which she defended Harris, who didn’t answer tough policy questions.

“Kamala Harris is not running for perfection. She’s running against Trump,” Ruhle told Maher. “We have two options. And so there are some things that you may not know the answer to. And in 2024, unlike 2016 for many Americans, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and what kind of threat he is to democracy.”

The MSNBC host repeatedly fawned over Harris after her exclusive interview.

MSNBC’s STEPHANIE RUHLE reprimands Harris for dodging her taxes: ‘She doesn’t answer the question’

Stephanie Rühle

“What I didn’t hear from her was divisive language,” Ruhle told her MSNBC colleague Nicolle Wallace. “Imagine if I sat against it Donald Trumpplease imagine the language he would use! And just the fact that we talked about collaborative inclusivity – I don’t know. Vote for her or don’t vote for her, but isn’t it great to just have a positive conversation right now?”

Ruhle acknowledged that Harris didn’t answer the question of how she would get funding for her ambitious economic agenda without Congress, but quickly defended her by saying Trump would make the deficit “significantly larger than Vice President Harris.”

She went on to say that it was “fine” for Harris not to provide details about her policy proposals, shrugging off the non-responses as she was just a “politician.”

“It’s complicated, isn’t it?” Ruhle exclaimed. “We are a country of 330 million people, our economy is complicated. Likewise – is the economy good or bad? It really depends! So tariffs can work if they are used in the right places. And you could observe that.” and say, “Well, she didn’t give a clear, direct answer.” That’s fine, because we’re not talking about clear or direct issues.”

I tested the cooling bed

I tested the cooling bed

I am an amateur sleep expert. I don’t want I’m an amateur sleep expert, but I’ve bought (and replaced) no less than three mattresses in the last 10 years in search of a cooling mattress that does what it says on the tin. I sleep hot, and often mattresses that claim to make me sleep cool don’t make much of a difference. I still wake up drenched in sweat, even though I have cooling sheets on the bed. (TMI, but I know I’m not the only one.)

To complicate matters, my partner shakes in bed unless she’s wearing super cozy pajamas. This also means that we sleep with a duvet on the bed all year round. It’s not a cooling duvet either – it’s a thick down alternative designed to keep you warm and cozy.

When I got the opportunity to test the Saatva latex hybrid mattress, I thought: Why not? I needed to know if this mattress would keep both of us comfortable throughout the night. Here is my honest review.

What is the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress?

This hybrid mattress offers support through a spring core layer and comfort through a soft latex layer. On a strength scale of one to ten, Saatva says this model is a six. In real life this means it tends to be firmer without being stiff. You sink into the soft top layer, but not so much that you can’t get out of bed in the morning. In my experience, you sleep soundly even when your partner tosses and turns.

Like the top-rated Saatva Classic and the brand’s other models, the Saatva latex hybrid mattress is made to order in the USA. This was very important to me because when I make a large purchase I look for brands that are made in the USA.

LARA EUCALANO/RD.COM

This mattress is designed to provide comfort for hot sleepers as it is made of layer upon layer of cooling materials.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress Features

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress FeaturesLARA EUCALANO/RD.COM

The Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress is this luxury brand’s “best cooling product.” It’s made with multiple layers of materials to help you sleep cool: a naturally breathable and hypoallergenic organic cotton cover, organic wool that wicks away moisture and regulates body temperature, natural latex with air channels for breathability, and individually wrapped coils to maintain it the air circulation throughout the entire mattress.

This mattress is hand-tufted to prevent all layers from shifting. If you’re not familiar with hand tufting, it’s a traditional method of assembling a mattress. Saatva layers all materials into an organic cotton base and then threads a lace through the layers to hold them in place. (The queen size mattress has 30 individual tufts.) This method is the key to a durable, long-lasting mattress and a sleeping surface that stays nice and flat.

If you are allergic to dust mites, note that the mattress’ 3-inch latex layer is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites. Simply choose from the different sizes, from twin to California king, and you’re ready for a restful sleep on this medium-firm mattress.

How I tested it

I slept on the Saatva latex hybrid mattress for a month. This is how I rated it.

Delivery and assembly

Saatva offers free white glove delivery on all of its mattress orders, something I didn’t know I needed but which is a major improvement over delivery in a box. The shipping company called me to schedule a delivery and to my surprise, it showed up on time. The delivery people unloaded the mattress, unpacked it and then carefully maneuvered it into the house. (I had the mattress set up in my living room, but if we had already assembled our new bed frame, they would have put the 120 pound mattress right on the frame for us. Oops.) Saatva also offers free mattress removal for me will be returning my old mattress when the new one is delivered, but I kept mine.

First impressions

This mattress is a beauty! I couldn’t help but lay down on the soft, tufted top and relax. It’s soft without being too soft; There’s just the right amount of solidity beneath the cloud-like top. Saatva advertises itself as a luxury mattress company – and I can say with certainty that this mattress feels luxurious.

comfort

Comfort of the Saatva latex hybrid mattressLARA EUCALANO/RD.COM

This mattress did not need to be retracted at all. It was comfortable for the first night (and every night after that). The real test of this mattress was when I unexpectedly tested positive for COVID. It hit me harder than I expected and I ended up spending almost a week in bed. Despite fever and body aches, I was able to sleep 12 hours a night. I’ve never been so grateful to have a comfortable mattress to fall into. This week alone has made me a Saatva fan for life.

Cooling effects

I usually sleep with a hypoallergenic mattress protector, but for this test I put the fitted sheet directly on the mattress. I wanted to feel all the cooling effects. I really didn’t want to wake up sweaty in the middle of the night.

I tested this mattress in August, a notoriously hot and humid month where I live. I didn’t immediately notice that it was cooler, but then it dawned on me: it was 30 degrees Celsius in the house and I slept comfortably. I couldn’t believe it! Saatva makes a cooling mattress that does what it promises. If your partner, like me, is cold at night, you can rest easy – she was warm and comfortable throughout the entire mattress test.

Lasting impressions

My previous mattress was a hybrid innerspring and memory foam mattress. It was comfortable, but it didn’t take long for me to overheat in bed. Saatva offers free removal of your old mattress when the new one is delivered, but I opted to leave my mattress in the starting blocks. I wasn’t sure if latex was the right material for me and wanted to be able to go back to my old but imperfect mattress. At the end of my 30-day test of the Saatva latex hybrid mattress, I was completely convinced and sent my final mattress to a friend’s guest room for a second life.

If you are looking for a Saatva latex mattress, you will also come across the Zenhaven mattress. The Zenhaven has a natural latex core with no coil layer. It’s double-sided, so you can choose your comfort level: one side is a softer four or five on the firmness scale, while the other is a seven or eight. Saatva recommends the plush side of the Zenhaven for side sleepers and the firm side for stomach sleepers. (The latex hybrid mattress is a six on the firmness scale and is suitable for all sleeping positions, but is particularly ideal for back sleepers.) However, both mattresses are made from similar cooling materials: organic cotton and New Zealand wool.

The Zenhaven mattress is slightly more expensive than the Saatva latex hybrid: $3,295 for a queen-size mattress instead of $2,395. As is usual with a Saatva mattress, there are rave reviews for both models.

Final verdict

The Saatva latex hybrid mattress is both soft and supportive and delivers on its promise of providing a cool, comfortable night’s sleep. It’s expensive, but worth the investment if you’ve tried numerous other cooling mattresses without success. Take it from a notorious hot sleeper: it definitely solves the problem of night sweats.

In addition to being cooling, this mattress is made from materials that are naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites.

For an adult-sized mattress, the price starts at $1,295 for a Saatva mattress and $1,595 for the latex hybrid mattress. However, keep an eye out for seasonal sales as I’ve seen discounts ranging from $300 to $650. This isn’t a cheap mattress, but it’s worth the investment if staying cool is important. The only place you can buy Saatva products is on the brand’s website and the process is seamless.

Spirit Halloween claps back Saturday Night Live because he made fun of the costume shop during a recent skit.

After the late-night comedy series included a segment highlighting the Halloween retail store during the Season 50 premiere on Saturday, September 28, Spirit Halloween took to social media to throw a subtle shade of its own.

“We’re great at bringing things back from the dead @nbcsnl,” the store’s official X page captioned a photo of a costume titled “Irrelevant 50-Year Old TV Show.” The package for the costume reportedly contained “outdated references,” “unknown actors,” and “declining ratings.”

Social media users quickly took to the comments section to praise — and roast — Spirit for the joke SNL included. “This was way funnier than her video,” one person wrote, while another said, “Can you take her time slot one day?”

Saturday Night Live’s hosts and musical guests usually take center stage each week – but sometimes more famous faces steal the show. Tyler Cameron turned heads at Kim Kardashian’s hosting debut in October 2021, joining her in a Bachelor-inspired skit. “The [experience] was incredible,” the Bachelor Nation alum told Us Weekly exclusively weeks after […]

A third commenter added: “Wait, SNL still works?? I thought it would be over in the 90s.”

Hosted by Jean SmartSaturday SNL The episode didn’t shy away from making Spirit the butt of the joke. A pre-pasted sketch showed SNL’s Heidi Gardner, Chloe Fineman And Michael Longfellow as employees filming a fake commercial for the retailer.

“Times may be good on Wall Street, but communities on Main Street are struggling,” Gardner says in a voiceover. “Closed stores, closed stores, empty parking lots. … When hard times come, it’s easy to feel like no one cares. But help is on the way.”

The trio claim that where others see old towns or abandoned K-Marts, they see a place where they can build their store “for six weeks and then flourish.”

“We are here providing vulnerable communities with the things they need most,” Fineman said. “Wigs that give you a rash, disposable smoke machines, and famous character costumes that have been adjusted just enough to avoid a lawsuit.”

Longfellow added, “And thanks to us, the former Auto Zone where a murder occurred is once again a thriving business. …Where a murder occurred.”

The skit then pokes fun at Spirit’s employees, joking that the company provides “six-week jobs for some of the hardest-hit perverts.”

The segment ends with a young girl asking Fineman for one Taylor Swift Costume. “Bet,” Fineman replies with a smile as he hands her the package for “Blonde Woman Singing.”

“That’s not Taylor Swift,” the girl says. “And neither do you,” Fineman replies with a smile as he punches her in the nose.

“Ghost Halloween. If you need us, we are there for you. “For six weeks,” says the threesome. “Because on November 1st we will be gone. And all this trash will end up in the dumpster.”

SNL promises many more big skits in the coming months to celebrate the 50 seasons that have aired. October and November hosts include: Ariana Grande, Michael Keaton And John Mulaneywhile Stevie Nicks, Billie Eilish And Chappell Roan are among the show’s listed musical performances.

Saturday Night Lives airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
