Newcastle 1-1 Man City: Fan views

Newcastle 1-1 Man City: Fan views

We asked for your opinion after Saturday’s Premier League game between Newcastle and Manchester City.

Here are some of your comments:

Newcastle fans

Philip: Best performance of the season so far. The team showed the hard work and tenacity that was missing in some games. Onwards and upwards.

Richard: Most Toon fans today expected them to hide, even if they didn’t say it out loud. I thought we would draw and for once I was right. I expected a reaction to the game against Fulham and expected us to be better against City. City have had their injury problems, but so have we – Isak and Botman are out, remember. So it’s an achievement that you can build on.

Andrew: Fulham’s performance was an absolute hit. Every single player did their best and gave everything. If we maintain this level, we will only get better.

Moor: The best performance so far this season. Everyone played really well – a real team effort. We were definitely missing a prominent striker today, but every player on the park seemed to have had a chance today. Anthony Gordon looks strong and our midfield rose to the challenge today. Great job, well done guys!

Man City fans

Phil: Nick Pope saved the day with an incredible stop as City almost took victory. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are always strong opponents, especially at home, and a point can be invaluable at the end of a long season.

Neil: Walker has cost us a goal in each of the last three games. It’s time for him to rest and perhaps be replaced by a more experienced full-back who has the game presence to recognize when someone is behind him rather than to put the opposition onside.

Martin: In such a tight league, where other teams have caught up with City, lost points are damaging. What is concerning is the ease with which other teams can score. Only twice without conceding a goal all season. We don’t have a rock-solid defense or if we do, they aren’t focused enough. We also cannot afford to miss opportunities. More clinical please.

Alan: Shortly after Arsenal it was a tough game but they held their own and again had to deal with defensive tactics and sharp tackling. The penalty was “shot” by Gordon and poor Haaland was overwhelmed by a compact defense. The referee had a bad game, allowed some fouls and was picky at times. The best player was Gvardiol while Newcastle was their goalkeeper.

I ask Eric: My retired husband’s nightly workouts are really affecting my sleep

I ask Eric: My retired husband’s nightly workouts are really affecting my sleep

Dear Eric: My husband has loved going to the gym since he retired. But he leaves at 11 p.m. or midnight. He said there were only a few people there at the time and he had access to all the machines, which was fine. The downside is that when he comes home between 1:30 and 2:00 in the morning, I’m woken up by the garage door, the lights, or the door just opening.

I asked him to move the training time earlier, but he doesn’t understand why it bothers me and why I wake up. I think it’s because I hear something while I’m sleeping and then wake up.

As soon as I’m awake I look at the clock and it’s 1:30 or 1:45 and then I realize why I’m waking up. I know he’s trying to be quiet, but I just hear it in my subconscious and just wake up.

When I go back to sleep it’s 3am or 3:30am and I wake up at 4:20am to start my day and go to work. He’s retired and can go to the gym anytime, and I’m still working. I go to bed around 10:30 p.m., but the disturbed sleep is just killing me.

– Doesn’t work

Dear Who Doesn’t Work Out: I don’t know what kind of bodybuilding utopia you live in, but I’d bet the gym is just as empty at 2 a.m. as it is at 11 p.m., if not emptier. So see if your husband will leave later and not earlier. That would result in him coming home at the same time you wake up.

You can also try wearing earplugs and a sleep mask to preserve your sleep.

However, he has to compromise with you. He may not understand why his noise wakes you, but that doesn’t make it any less true. He’s enjoying the privileges of retirement, and that’s great, but being free from the 9-to-5 is not the same as being free from civility and empathy in a relationship. Be firm about it – if he doesn’t want to work with you to find a solution, ask him why.

‘Deep feeling of hurt’: Bangladesh issues note of protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ‘unacceptable’ remarks

‘Deep feeling of hurt’: Bangladesh issues note of protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s ‘unacceptable’ remarks

Bangladesh News: The neighboring country’s government on Monday filed a note of protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming his recent comments at a rally in Jharkhand were “unacceptable”.

Bangladesh’s foreign ministry said on its official Facebook account that it had handed over the protest note to India’s deputy high commissioner in Dhaka.

Last week, Amit Shah visited Jharkhand to address a rally ahead of the 2024 General Assembly elections. Addressing a rally in the state’s Sahibganj district, he said, “We will hang any Bangladeshi invader upside down to teach them a lesson,” and appealed to the people to “let BJP form the government.”

Bangladesh called on the Indian government to warn its political leaders against making such “offensive and unacceptable” statements.

“The ministry also emphasized that such statements coming from responsible authorities towards the nationals of a neighboring country undermine the spirit of mutual respect and understanding between two friendly countries,” the minister said Dhaka Tribune reported.

“Deep feeling of hurt”

Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry has also expressed its “deep sense of hurt” and “extreme displeasure” over Amit Shah’s comments.

“With the note of protest handed over to the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Dhaka today, the Ministry expressed its serious reservation, deep sense of hurt and utter displeasure and called on the Government of India to advise political leaders not to indulge in such indecency “and unacceptable remarks,” said a statement from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry.

Amit Shah had also criticized the Jharkhand government for its “patronization” of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators. He said they were “marrying our daughters, which will not be tolerated.” The BJP believes in politics of justice and not caste, creed or religion, Shah said.

Since the escape of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in July 2024, relations between India and Bangladesh have been at a difficult level.

Jamaat-e-Islami Party leader Shafiqur Rahman had also highlighted the need to improve ties with India during a meeting with representatives of the Indian Media Correspondents Association Bangladesh in August.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 price leaks and bad news for your next phone purchase

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 price leaks and bad news for your next phone purchase

Robert Triggs/Android Authority

TL;DR

  • A leaker has revealed the apparent prices for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 flagship processors.
  • Both chips are said to be around 20% more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300.
  • The Qualcomm chip price increase is consistent with previous reports.

Qualcomm hinted at its Snapdragon Summit last year that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would be more expensive than its predecessor. We have also seen leaks pointing to this increased price. Now a Chinese source has revealed the apparent prices for the new Snapdragon and MediaTek chips.

Digital Chat Station has posted apparent Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and MediaTek Dimensity 9400 pricing on Weibo, and it doesn’t make for good reading. The tipster claims that both chips will be around 20% more expensive than their predecessors due to the cost of TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process.

More specifically, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is said to cost $190, while the Dimensity processor apparently costs $155. The leaker warned in a follow-up comment that these were only approximate prices.

Digital Chat Station 2025 flagship chip prices

It is worth noting that chipset prices may fluctuate based on various factors such as exclusivity and quantity. So this price doesn’t necessarily reflect what Samsung, Xiaomi or ZTE would pay, but it’s still not a good sign for consumers.

Which offer would you prefer in 2025?

201 votes

The apparent price for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is consistent with analyst Ming Chi-Kuo’s report from earlier this year. The analyst noted at the time that the new flagship processor would be 20 to 30% more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, citing a price of $190 to $200.

Xiaomi had previously noted an increase in “upstream costs” for upcoming phones and even asked followers what they should do. The Chinese manufacturer specifically asked fans whether they should downgrade their phones to maintain the price or offer improved phones at a higher price. We suspect that many other Android phone manufacturers are also in this dilemma.

Scholes wonders why ‘dead’ Man Utd signed £43m man after Spurs defeat: ‘Give us something’

Scholes wonders why ‘dead’ Man Utd signed £43m man after Spurs defeat: ‘Give us something’

Man Utd legend Paul Scholes is unsure why the Red Devils signed Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window and insists they looked “like an untrained football team” in the 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham.

Spurs only needed three minutes to take the lead through Brennan Johnson Man Utd The only surprise was that they didn’t score more than second-half goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke after Bruno Fernandes saw red late in the first period.

The second 3-0 home defeat in a row left Man Utd in 12th place with seven points from six games after scoring just five goals, and the pressure is already mounting again on Erik ten Hag after surviving a summer scrutiny from the club’s hierarchy.

And former Man Utd midfielder Scholes is still baffled by the lack of a plan under Ten Hag as the Red Devils look “dead” and “untrained” against Tottenham.

I’ll keep talking Super SportScholes said: “They don’t know how they’re going to play.

“You don’t know how they will approach the games, whether they will counterattack or sit deep or whether they will try to have all the possession in the game. We have no idea. They look like a football team without a coach.

“It’s been two and a bit years now… from the first week Ange Postecoglou came in we probably knew what Tottenham were doing and they still do it to this day.”

“We are still two years in the future [at United] and as I said, it is an untrained team.

“The players looked dead today, they looked flat, they looked ‘I don’t know what to do’, there is no enthusiasm for football and that can only come from the training ground.”

“Some of the positions that people take on the pitch are sometimes just crazy.”

De Ligt joined Man Utd from Bayern Munich for around £43million in the summer transfer window, but Scholes has questioned why the Red Devils spent so much money on the centre-back.

Scholes added: “When you bring players in you expect them to be much better than the ones you already have. I don’t see any players making a big difference.

“De Ligt came on for Maguire, for example, but there’s not a big difference.”

Asked if De Ligt was an improvement over Harry Maguire, Scholes replied: “No, absolutely not.”

Despite Ten Hag taking most of the blame for their performances, Scholes believes Man Utd’s experienced players need to step up and prove their worth.

Scholes continued: “These are experienced players for whom United paid a lot of money. We have to stop listening to excuses, get on the training pitch and find a way of playing.

“Find something, give us something!”

Facebook not working for you? Here’s how to fix the problem

Facebook not working for you? Here’s how to fix the problem

Facebook is one of the largest social media platforms with billions of monthly active users, but it is still prone to problems when it doesn’t respond, the posts or videos don’t load, or the app simply doesn’t work. So if you face any of these issues, you’ve come to the right place. Here we will discuss various methods to fix Facebook not working issue on Android, iOS and web to get the app up and running in no time.

Method 1: Check your internet connection

The first reason for Facebook not working could be faulty or poor network reception, which often results in the app not being able to load posts or videos. Therefore, the app just shows a blank screen with the loading icon moving in a circle.

If this happens to you, try restarting your wireless router or using mobile data to see if it helps. Check other apps and websites to make sure they are working properly. Turn off VPN if you use one or contact your Internet service provider if necessary.

Method 2: Check if Facebook is unavailable

Because Facebook is home to billions of people worldwide, outages can sometimes occur due to server overload, maintenance, or other issues. A recent example comes from 2021 when service was down for seven hours.

Therefore, the chances of this happening are very likely and could be the reason why the app is not working. To check, go to Is It Down Right Now website. Enter here Facebook.com in the text box and if it says it is operational, the problem may be yours.

Method 3: Update the Facebook app

Facebook releases updates to its app to add new features and changes and fix problematic bugs. This makes the older version obsolete, which could be a reason why Facebook is not working properly. To fix this, you need to update the app to the latest version. Here’s how:

On Android

  1. On Android, open the Google Play Store and tap your Profile icon top right.
  2. Here, go to Manage apps and devices > Updates available.
  3. Find Facebook in the list of apps and tap Update button right next to it.
Update Facebook Android

I already had the latest version of Facebook, so just assume it says “Facebook” instead of “WhatsApp”.

On iPhone

  1. Launch the App Store on your iPhone and tap Profile icon top right.
  2. Scroll down to see a list of apps that have updates available.
  3. Search for Facebook and tap Update.
Update Facebook iOS

Method 4: Clear Facebook app cache

If updating the app didn’t help for you, the problem could be with the app cache. The cache contains temporary files that help the app load faster, but can also cause problems if they become corrupt. This is how you can clear the cache for Facebook on Android and iOS.

On Android

  1. Long press the button Facebook app icon until an overflow menu appears.
  2. Tap here I symbol to access the app info screen.
  3. Go to Storage and cache and tap Clear cache.
Clear Facebook cache for Android

To be on the safe side, we also recommend pressing “Force Stop” to restart the app.

On iPhone

  1. On Facebook, tap Hamburger menu bottom right.
  2. Here, go to Settings & Privacy > Settings.
Open Facebook Settings for iOS
  1. Scroll down to Preferencesand then tap Browser.
  2. Hit that Clear Button next to “Cookies and cache”.
Clear Facebook cache iOS

This should help clear the cache for Facebook on iPhone as this is not possible via iOS Settings.

Method 5: Clear your browser cache

Just like the app, your browser might also suffer from corrupted cached data. This causes Facebook not to work. But unlike the smartphone app, we need to clear the browser cache to fix the problem. Let’s take a look at how to do it. Let’s take Google Chrome as an example, since most browsers today are based on Chromium.

  1. In your web browser, click 3 dots symbol top right.
  2. Now navigate to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data.
  3. Here, check the boxes for Browsing history, Cookies and other website dataAnd Cached images and files. Optionally, you can omit “Cookies and other site data” if you do not want to lose your saved passwords.
  4. Now click on Time range drop down menu and select it All time.
  5. Finally, click Delete data to clear your browser cache.

Method 6: Log in to your Facebook account again

Sometimes an incorrect login can prevent the app from verifying your account information, causing the app to misbehave and not work properly. These cases are rare, but should not be ruled out. In such cases, you must properly log out and log back into your account. Here’s how to do it.

In the Facebook app

  1. Tap Hamburger menu at the top or bottom right of the homepage.
  2. Scroll down and tap Log out Button.
  3. Select in the confirmation popup Log out.
  4. After logging out, enter the correct credentials to log in again.
Sign out of the Facebook app

On the Facebook website

  1. Open Facebook (website) in a web browser and click Arrow symbol under your profile picture.
  2. Then select the Log out Option.
Log out of the Facebook website

Method 7: Remove browser extensions

Extensions can help add more functionality to your web browser. But some extensions such as ad or tracker blockers may malfunction on some websites, which may result in websites like Facebook not working. So try removing an extension from your browser. Again, we’ll use Google Chrome as an example for this guide.

  1. In your web browser, click Expansion symbol from the address bar.
  2. Select from the drop down menu Manage extensions.
  3. Now turn off the extension that you suspect is causing the problem. Repeat for the remaining extensions until the problem is resolved.
  4. Once you have identified the perpetrator, click Remove under the extension to delete it.
  5. Click on Remove from the confirmation prompt.

Method 8: Enable Airplane Mode

Your phone may have difficulty connecting to the internet, especially on mobile data. This results in longer than usual loading times in the Facebook app. However, turning Airplane Mode on and off allows your phone to reconnect, which usually resolves the issue. I use this trick quite often and you should try it too.

Method 9: Uninstall the Facebook app

Now, if none of the above methods work for you, the problem might be with the app itself. There is a possibility that your copy of Facebook is a corrupt installation. Or if you sideloaded the app, you may experience other issues. Therefore, it is best to uninstall it and re-download it officially from the respective app store. Here’s how to do it.

On Android

  1. Long press the button Facebook App icon.
  2. Then tap I symbol to get to the app info screen.
  3. Here, press Uninstall.
  4. Tap in the confirmation prompt Uninstall again.
  5. Now re-download Facebook from the Google Play Store (website).
Uninstall Facebook Android

On iPhone

  1. Long press the Facebook icon on the home screen.
  2. Select in the overflow menu Remove app.
  3. Then tap Delete app to uninstall Facebook.
  4. Finally, download Facebook again from the App Store (website).
Uninstall Facebook iOS

Method 10: Restart your phone

Finally, restarting your phone seems like a pretty simple trick, but it’s often enough. If all the above methods did not give fruitful results and Facebook is still not working, then this is your last resort and definitely worth trying. Here’s how to do it right.

On Android

  1. On your Android phone, pull down the quick settings bar.
  2. Tap here Electricity symbol from below and select Restart. You can also long press Power button to get this option.
Restart the Android smartphone

On iPhone

  1. Launch Control Center by swiping down from the top right.
  2. Then long press the button Electricity symbol above (on iOS 18).
  3. Now drag the Slide to turn off Slide the slider to the right to turn off the device.
Restart iPhone

Alternatively, you can also press the button Side button + Volume up button to get to the Slide to turn off Screen.

So here we are, these were the 10 methods that we have compiled for you. Facebook is a pretty sophisticated app at this point, so it should be rare for Facebook not to work. If you still encounter such problems, these methods should help you out. I hope you find this guide useful. If you have any questions about this guide, write them in the comments below.

The limits of what Kamala Harris can do for abortion rights

The limits of what Kamala Harris can do for abortion rights

Efforts to codify Roe date back to the late 1980s, when Democrats believed the Supreme Court would inevitably overturn abortion rights. Although some activists wanted a federal constitutional amendment to protect reproductive rights, Democrats in Congress found that unattainable and instead pushed for an abortion rights bill called the Freedom of Choice Act that would have blocked most state restrictions on abortion.

But even when Democrats had control of Congress and the White House, the idea of codifying Roe, which fundamentally united the party, sometimes masked disagreements over what “Roe” meant, especially as the Supreme Court overturned the decision over the course of the year reinterpreted over the years. Some moderates thought of the Supreme Court’s statement in Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992, which allowed states to impose some restrictions on abortion, such as parental involvement laws or bans on Medicaid funding of the procedure. Other Democrats said any version of Roe — including the least restrictive interpretation of the original 1973 decision — would not go far enough to stop states from criminalizing post-viability abortions because women can suffer fatal health crises later in pregnancy .

And at other times, such as during Barack Obama’s first term, codifying reproductive rights appeared to be a much lower priority for Democrats than health care reform and other goals, including reducing teen pregnancy.

The latest failed attempt to save abortion rights came as the Dobbs decision loomed. The Women’s Health Protection Act would have created national protections for abortion patients and providers and banned what the law deemed medically unnecessary restrictions. The importance of the action was not lost on Democrats, especially since Donald Trump had already appointed three new justices to the Supreme Court and the bill passed the House of Representatives in September 2021. But the Senate rejected the bill twice, in February and May 2022. Moderate Republican senators who supported some form of abortion rights, including Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, argued that the bill went too far, while Democrats The two senators’ alternative rejected a bill that would have codified Roe but retained some restrictions.

Theoretically, it’s possible that Democrats have found a way around these divisions. The party is certainly more united on reproductive rights issues than in the past. And the urgency to take action becomes even clearer with nearly half of the country imposing a comprehensive ban.

But the reality is that it is unlikely that Democrats will gain the majority in Congress needed to pass such legislation in 2024.

But a Harris presidency could still make a big difference. Depending on the makeup of Congress, Harris could push for a less ambitious reform, such as repealing the Comstock Act, an 1873 obscenity law that abortion opponents call a de facto abortion ban waiting to be fully enforced. Conservatives interpret it to mean that the Comstock Law prohibits the sending of any abortion-related information or paraphernalia without exception. Repeal of this law could appeal to moderate Republicans like Collins.

Then there are steps Harris could take without Congress. During the Biden administration, some abortion rights advocates were frustrated by the president’s unwillingness to take the offense to task in court. Harris may be less risk-averse. For example, she might argue that federal regulations regulating access to the abortion drug mifepristone take precedence over state criminal laws restricting the drug. She could also continue Biden’s strategy of ensuring emergency access to abortions under the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) and use the Free Access to Clinic Entrances Act to prosecute those who block access to clinics or threatening those who enter clinics.

Again, Harris would likely face some limitations. Biden has been cautious about some of these moves not only because of his apparent discomfort with the issue of abortion, but also because of the risk that such a move would backfire on the conservative Supreme Court. The government could lose one of these cases, allowing the conservative supermajority to govern in a way that would set back abortion access even further. For example, the fight over emergency access to abortion using EMTALA could give the court an opportunity to declare that the law’s use of the term “unborn child” (which scholars say only applies when patients are already in labor) is the intent of the law Congress signals it will protect fetal rights and restrict access to abortion — even in blue states.

That brings us to one of the most significant steps Harris could take: changing the way the Supreme Court operates. The next president could have the ability to appoint multiple justices, and the court’s two most conservative members, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, are also the oldest. But even if there are no Supreme Court vacancies in a potential Harris term, her administration could undermine the impact of major conservative victories on the Supreme Court.

Consider some of the issues the court addressed last fall. Conservatives are still pushing for the court to decide whether the Food and Drug Administration lacked the authority to approve mifepristone in 2000. If this argument someday succeeds, it would be up to the FDA in a Harris administration to enforce such a decision (the FDA can enforce it). civil and criminal penalties for the sale of misbranded products or drugs that have not been properly approved by the authority). But the FDA can only prioritize so many investigations, and a Harris FDA probably wouldn’t target mifepristone. It would also likely take steps to re-approve the drug. And if the Supreme Court were to rule that the Comstock Law was a de facto ban on the mailing of abortion-related material, it would be very unlikely that a Justice Department in Harris would devote resources to prosecuting people who received or mailed abortion pills.

Voters concerned about abortion rights will be betting high if they vote for Trump, who has refused to veto a national abortion ban or give a clear answer to what he said about enforcing the law Comstock Act thinks the way conservatives want it to. That’s why a Trump presidency could lead to national abortion restrictions that override state-level protections set by voters.

At least in the short term, a Harris administration is unlikely to create federal protections for abortion rights. But it can ensure that voters who supported abortion rights in their own states can retain those rights.
