Ryzen 7 9800X3D teased: AMD’s potential game-changer?

Ryzen 7 9800X3D teased: AMD’s potential game-changer?

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D leaks suggest a powerful 3D V-Cache equipped processor to rival Intel. Get full details on specifications, potential performance and market impact.

In a recent leak that sent the tech world into a frenzy, AMD has apparently hinted at the release of a new processor: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. This potential addition to the Ryzen 7000 series has sparked intense speculation and excitement, particularly among gaming enthusiasts, thanks to the inclusion of AMD’s innovative 3D V-Cache technology.

While official details are still scarce, industry insiders and leakers have provided insights into what we can expect from this mysterious processor. If the rumors prove true, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D could be a serious competitor in the high-performance computing space and further intensify the competition between AMD and Intel.

Decryption of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D

It is reportedly an upcoming processor from AMD with 8 cores and 16 threads. The inclusion of “3D” in the name strongly suggests that it is leveraging AMD’s groundbreaking 3D V-Cache technology, a feature previously found in the Ryzen 7 5800X3D.

Although there is no official release date, leaks suggest a possible release in early 2024. AMD’s recent silence on the issue has only fueled anticipation.

Like most AMD processors, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is expected to be sold through major online and offline retailers. The combination of 3D V-Cache and the Zen 4 architecture has the potential to deliver significant performance improvements, particularly in gaming and content creation applications. This could make the 9800X3D a compelling option for users looking for top-notch performance without breaking the bank. Gamers, content creators, and anyone who needs high-performance computing should keep a close eye on the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.

Decoding the leak

The leak came from a reputable source known for accurate hardware predictions. Although not officially confirmed by AMD, the details are consistent with AMD’s recent product strategy and technology roadmap.

According to the leak, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will have the following specifications:

  • Cores and threads: 8 cores, 16 threads
  • 3D V cache: Up to 64MB stacked on the CCD
  • Basic clock: Estimated to be around 4.2 GHz
  • Boost clock: May reach 5.0GHz or higher
  • Socket: AM5, compatible with existing AM5 motherboards
  • TDP: Probably around 120W

Although these specifications are subject to change, they paint the picture of a powerful processor that can handle demanding workloads.

The 3D V-Cache Advantage

3D V-Cache, first introduced in the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, is a groundbreaking technology that stacks additional L3 cache directly on the CPU chip. This dramatically increases the amount of cache available to the processor, resulting in significant performance improvements in cache-sensitive applications such as games.

On the 5800X3D, 3D V-Cache delivered impressive performance gains, often outperforming even Intel’s flagship processors in gaming benchmarks. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D could push the boundaries even further with its combination of 3D V-Cache and the latest Zen 4 architecture.

Potential performance

While concrete benchmarks are still pending, expectations for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D are high. The combination of 3D V-Cache and Zen 4 has the potential to deliver performance that rivals or even exceeds Intel’s 13th Gen Core processors, especially in gaming.

Content creators and professionals who work with demanding applications could also benefit significantly from the larger cache and improved multi-threaded performance.

Competition and pricing

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D will likely face stiff competition from Intel’s 13th-gen Core i7 and possibly even some i9 models. However, AMD has a history of offering competitive pricing, and the 9800X3D could be a cheaper option for users looking for high performance without the premium price tag.

Impact on the market

The release of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D could have a significant impact on the CPU market. It has the potential to further solidify AMD’s position as a leader in high-performance computing and force Intel to respond with even more innovative products.

For consumers, this increased competition could lead to greater choice and potentially lower prices, ultimately benefiting the end consumer.

Personal insights and expectations

As a tech enthusiast who has closely followed AMD’s journey over the past few years, I’m really excited about the potential of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The 5800X3D was a revelation and proved that 3D V-Cache could be a game-changer.

I expect the 9800X3D to build on this success and offer even greater performance gains thanks to the Zen 4 architecture. I’m particularly interested in seeing how it works in gaming and content creation applications, where 3D V-Cache could make a significant difference.

While still shrouded in mystery, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has the potential to be a major release for AMD. If the leaks prove accurate, it could be a powerful processor that delivers impressive performance at a competitive price.

While we eagerly await official confirmation and benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D remains a tantalizing prospect that could shake up the CPU market in 2024.

Fox’s Chris Petersen is sick over the referee’s controversial Minnesota-Michigan onside kick call

Fox’s Chris Petersen is sick over the referee’s controversial Minnesota-Michigan onside kick call

Michigan football did almost everything it could to blow a three-touchdown lead, but got some help from the referee late in the fourth quarter to hold off Minnesota 27-24 at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.

A Minnesota player was ruled offside due to the onsides kick, which the Golden Gophers made amends at the Wolverines’ 40-yard line with XX to play, trailing 27-24.

“I’m feeling really sick right now,” Fox analyst Chris Petersen, the former longtime head coach of Boise State and Washington, said after the game. “I just hate to see the officials make things up. Like I don’t know why they would fly that flag. For me these are always close decisions, the ball has been kicked. It’s not a monster… whatever.” We’ll do it, let the children play.

“We would always say: With one move you never lose the game, with one move you can win the game, but when it comes down to an official’s decision? Do you know how hard it is to do an onsides kick? …And then they got it, they made it perfect, and then it gets taken away? I don’t like it at all, it’s so frustrating, that’s why I’m not training right now.”

Mike Pereira, Fox’s rules analyst, disputed the call in real time on the broadcast. It was “terribly close,” he said.

“I don’t think he’s offside. … I don’t think he breaks the plane,” Pereira said. The piece cannot be reviewed.

Pittsburgh Steelers DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been strong defensively this season, giving up the fewest yards and points per contest in the NFL. They are primed for more success at home against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4.

Although the Indianapolis offense has put up a respectable number of points over the last three weeks, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson currently leads the league in interceptions thrown. If running back Jonathan Taylor struggles against a Steelers defense that allows the second-fewest rushing yards per game,

Richardson could be forced to throw the ball as he deals with intense pressure from DPOY favorite TJ Watt. Fantasy managers should include Pittsburgh’s DST in lineups of all shapes and sizes on Sunday.

-Jorden Hill, RotoBaller

New York Jets DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The New York Jets defense pulled off a great draw at home against the Denver Broncos in Week 4. The Broncos have struggled offensively this season, ranking 23rd in points per game and 26th in yards per game through three weeks.

The Jets have one of the most talented defenses in the league and are in a great situation at home against rookie quarterback Bo Nix. With New York considered a 7.5-point home favorite in a game with a low over/under ratio of 39.5, fantasy gamers should be confident heading into Week 4 with the Jets defense.

– Matt T., RotoBaller

Cleveland Browns DST – Fantasy Football Outlook

The Cleveland Browns defense will hit the road to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. Cleveland’s defense was solid through three games, recording nine sacks, good for tenth in the league.

The Raiders will call on Gardner Minshew II at center after benching him for Aiden O’Connell last week, but Minshew is on a leash after throwing just three touchdowns and three interceptions in the first three games of the season Thrown and didn’t score a vote of confidence from head coach Antonio Pierce during the week.

However, the Browns’ defense enters Week 4 pretty banged up, as Myles Garrett (foot, hamstring, hamstring), Jordan Hicks (ribs, elbow) and Mike Ford (knee) all missed a few practices this week due to their respective injuries. The Browns are 1.5-point away favorites in a game with a low over/under of 36.5 points, so fantasy managers can feel confident starting the unit as a top-10 option this weekend.

Cost 2024 2025 Difference
Average monthly Medicare Advantage premium $18.23 $17.00 -$1.23 (-6.75%)

Medicare open enrollment begins October 15 and runs through December 7, 2024. During this time, any Medicare enrollee can switch from Original Medicare to a private Medicare Advantage plan (or vice versa), switch between Medicare Advantage plans, or Enroll in or switch between Medicare Part D prescription drug plans. Changes will come into effect on January 1, 2025.

The numbers in the table above are based on projections CMS received from Medicare Advantage providers and are weighted by enrollment numbers. So if you have a less popular plan, your premium may be very different. For example, using 2024 CMS data, our calculations show that the monthly average for all Medicare Advantage premiums in 2024 was $23.05.

note

About six in 10 people who have a Medicare Advantage plan now will pay $0 in premiums in 2025 if they stay on the same plan. And 83% of current beneficiaries who continue their plans will receive the same or lower premium in 2025, according to CMS.

The CMS also said the number of special needs plans (SNPs) for Medicare recipients will increase by 9% next year, with SNPs making up about a quarter of all Medicare Advantage plans. Special needs plans provide additional benefits for people with certain chronic illnesses or disabilities, those enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid, or those living in certain facilities. An additional 7.2 million people are expected to enroll in these plans in 2025.

The average Plan D premium is also expected to decline

The average monthly cost for standalone Part D plans is also expected to decline to $46.50 in 2025, a decrease of $7.45, or 13.8%, from $53.95 in the year 2024 corresponds. These figures do not include those who do not pay premiums due to the Extra Help program.

CMS says premiums will be even lower on average for people who get prescription drug coverage through Medicare Advantage. Premiums are expected to decrease to $13.50 in 2025, a decrease of $2.06 (13.2%) from $15.56 in 2024.

In 2025, there will be a new limit of $2,000 on the amount you must pay out of pocket for Part D. Although this could ultimately lead to insurers raising their premiums, most providers currently participate in a voluntary premium stabilization plan, under which the government pays them a subsidy to limit rate increases. The CMS said 99% of people now enrolled in a standalone Part D plan are with companies that have opted into that program.

What the changes in 2025 mean for you

These numbers can help you plan for upcoming changes to your insurance coverage and give you a general idea of what average Medicare Advantage costs will be in 2025. If you are already enrolled in an MA plan, be sure to read your annual change notice, which you may have already received in the mail. This letter will provide you with details of your specific coverage and costs, which will come into effect in January.

You have the option to switch to a different plan if you want to start starting October 15th, when open enrollment for Medicare begins, and again during open enrollment for Medicare Advantage, which runs from January 1st to March 31st running.

If you haven’t signed up for Medicare Advantage yet but are thinking about it, you can use this average cost as a benchmark for any plans you’re considering. Detailed plan information should be available on the Medicare.gov website by October 1st. Learn how to choose a Medicare plan or call 1-800-MEDICARE once open enrollment begins for more information and assistance.
