A prominent school privatization activist who was praised by former President Donald Trump and contributed to Project 2025 has spoken out for the first time after videos surfaced earlier this month that appeared to show his involvement in gay pornography videos.

“As a parent rights and school choice activist, my passion is personal,” says Corey DeAngelis wrote on Xformerly Twitter, on Monday morning. “I was a victim of bad decisions and bad influences. I have used this experience as the fuel that drives me to protect young people from being put in the same position I was in and to help parents protect their children.”

Earlier this month, a blog called Str8 Up Gay Porn, which publishes gay porn reviews and articles about the adult entertainment industry, first reported that a person resembling DeAngelis appeared in several gay adult films.

The performer, who goes by the name “Seth Rose,” appears in at least three gay adult films on the 2014 pornography website GayHoopla. In the videos, “Rose” appears masturbating alone and with other men.

DeAngelis’ post on Monday appears to acknowledge his appearance in these films and acknowledge that he was a “victim of bad decisions.” His post went out to his 163,000 followers on X and received praise from conservative writers like Richard HananiaAnd Chris Rufowho is widely credited with inventing the critical race theory panic.

DeAngelis was a fierce critic of what he viewed as “pornographic” content in school literature, often referring to classroom materials that include discussions of LGBTQ+ people and their experiences.

The same day Str8 Up Gay Porn published his blog, DeAngelis published on Girls Sports.”

DeAngelis did not respond to HuffPost’s request for comment, but posted a screenshot of this reporter’s query to X and said the article was “a hit against me because I don’t want porn in schools.”

The self-described “school choice evangelist” is also listed as a Project 2025 contributor on behalf of the American Federation for Children. Project 2025 is a policy roadmap for a second Trump presidency written by the Heritage Foundation and a network of conservative organizations.

Sarah Kate Ellis, president of the LGBTQ+ advocacy group GLAAD, said The Advocate that DeAngelis’ role as a contributor to Project 2025 “is further evidence that he is willing to sell student safety to anti-LGBTQ extremists.”

In the introduction, the authors of Project 2025 equate “transgender ideology” with “pornography” and call for it to be “banned.” The 900-page document boasts numerous policies promoting school privatization programs while pushing to prevent public school officials from doing anything – such as using a name or a different pronoun – to support transgender and gender non-conforming students.

The idea that the existence of transgender people equals pornography is now a common refrain, dating back to the 1970s when anti-gay advocate Anita Bryant launched her “Save the Children” campaign baselessly equated Gays and lesbians with snow groomers and people who abuse children.

DeAngelis repeated these claims as reasons why parents should withdraw their children from public schools and opt for taxpayer-funded school privatization. In his book “The Parent Revolution: Saving Your Children from the Radicals Ruining Our Schools.” Trump promoted On Truth Social, DeAngelis warns that many popular books in public schools “push a gender ideology” that veers into “pornographic territory.”

He has made similar talking points in Fox News segments and criticized LGBTQ+ inclusive policies in schools, particularly those that allow trans girls to use girls’ locker rooms and play on girls’ sports teams.

DeAngelis currently runs the nonprofit Education Freedom Institute, which promotes “school choice,” a policy advocated by some conservatives that uses taxpayer money to subsidize private schools.

He was a senior fellow at the American Federation for Children, another conservative education nonprofit founded by Trump-appointed former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.

But since the videos surfaced two weeks ago, Rebekah Bydlak, a spokeswoman for the American Federation for Children, told NBC News that DeAngelis has been placed on leave “while we continue to investigate this matter.”

Bydlak did not respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

Last year, DeAngelis supported the Chino, California, school district’s policies “Out” transgender students to their parentsand another in Temecula, California, to ban books featuring LGBTQ+ people.

“I cannot believe that we have come to a point in America where authoritarians in power are fighting so hard to keep sexual secrets about children from their own parents,” said DeAngelis, who sits on the board of the Liberty Justice Center. a conservative attorney advocacy group said after California Attorney General Rob Bonta sued Chino County over its parent notification policy.

Several key tax changes, including revisions to the tax at source (TDS) framework, will come into effect from today (October 1, 2024) as outlined in the Union Budget 2024.

These updates affect a range of transactions, from rental and insurance payments to e-commerce and more.

What is TDS?

TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) is a mechanism where taxes are deducted at the time of payment and then paid to the government.

The payee can later claim credit based on Form 26AS or a TDS certificate.

Important TDS rate changes from October 1, 2024

Section 194DA (Life Insurance Payments): The TDS rate on life insurance payouts has come down from 5% to 2%.

§ 194G (lotto ticket commission): The TDS on commission from sale of lottery tickets will be reduced from 5% to 2%.

Section 194-IB (Rental Payments): A TDS rate of 2% (previously 5%) now applies to rental payments from individuals or HUF.

Section 194M (Certain Payments by Individuals or HUF): Individual or HUF payments will now be subject to 2% TDS rate reduced from 5%.

Section 194-O (E-Commerce Operators): Payments made by e-commerce operators to participants will now attract a TDS rate of 0.1% (previously 1%).

Section 194F (Repurchase of Mutual Funds): TDS on buybacks by mutual funds or Unit Trust of India has been omitted.

Additional tax changes from October 1, 2024: Apart from the TDS revisions, other key tax updates include:

TDS for Floating Rate Bonds: Central and state government bonds, including floating rate bonds, will now attract TDS of 10% if the income exceeds Rs 10,000 per annum.

Share buybacks: Share buybacks are now subject to shareholder tax, similar to dividends, increasing the tax burden on investors.

Securities transaction tax (STT): The STT for Futures & Options (F&O) increased to 0.02% and 0.1% respectively, with additional taxes on share buybacks.

TDS on sale of property: A TDS of 1% is levied on the sale of properties above Rs 50 lakh, even in transactions involving multiple buyers or sellers.

Impact on taxpayers

While lower TDS rates could provide some relief in certain transactions, other updates such as increased STT and new buyback taxes could result in higher financial liabilities for investors.

Taxpayers should take note of these changes and ensure they comply with the new rules starting today, October 1, 2024.

The two-time world heavyweight champion has been banned from boxing for the next 28 days after he was brutally knocked down by compatriot Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London.

Whenever a fighter loses due to TKO or KO, the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports includes medical suspensions as one of their mandatory obligations. This is why the British Boxing Board of Control briefly enforced this brief ban on AJ.

However, there are no fights planned for AJ. Therefore, the break may not have a significant impact on his agenda. The loss to Dubois was his fourth defeat in his entire professional boxing career.

What are the rules for the vice presidential debate?

Tuesday’s debate will be held at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City and will not have an audience like the presidential debates earlier this year. Moderators will introduce both candidates, but Walz or Vance will not read opening statements.

There will be two four-minute commercial breaks during the debate, and no campaign personnel will be permitted to interact with the candidates during these breaks. Unlike both presidential debates, the microphones will remain unmuted throughout, but can be muted by CBS News.

Morgan Nick was just 6 years old when she was kidnapped on the evening of June 9, 1995 as she played with friends and chased fireflies. When she was kidnapped, she was just feet away from her mother, Colleen, at a baseball stadium in Alma. Despite the extensive investigation that followed and the persistence of law enforcement in the years that followed, Morgan remains missing.

“Until someone can tell me that Morgan didn’t survive, I will fight every day for her to come home,” Colleen Nick told KATV in 2021. “There is a tremendous amount of truth, hope and encouragement in this fact. “When Morgan was captured, the state of Arkansas stood up.”

Billy Jack Lincks, a veteran and Arkansas native, died in 2000 while incarcerated.
