Finneas and Billie Eilish are an inseparable duo, both as siblings and as collaborators. As the sole producer of all their music, Finneas still found the time to record his second solo album. For Cryin’ Out Loud!

In a new episode of Spotify’s Vodcast Countdown toEilish takes on the role of interviewer to discuss Finneas’ feelings ahead of the album’s release on October 4th.

“I think it’s important to separate your taste from what you need to express,” Finneas, 27, says at the start of the episode. “It’s really not about you.”

Eilish, 22, enters the scene and begins by asking what Finneas wants people to take away from the album. “I’m kind of convinced that I don’t have any fans,” Finneas replies, adding jokingly. “I feel like some of your superfans are such superfans that I’m the expansion pack.”

However, the singer and producer was shocked to discover that all three of his shows in support of the album were sold out. Finneas is scheduled to perform in Los Angeles, New York and Kingston upon Thames in England for a series of intimate shows to play the album following its release later this week.

For Cryin’ Out Loud is announced as a solo album, but it is the result of some jam sessions with which Finneas works closely. “For anyone who’s never jammed with friends, this is it So “Fun,” declares Eilish, although she admits that she mostly jams with Finneas.

“The reason I did it that way was to have fun!” he agrees, taking a very different approach to his debut album The optimist, which he said he did in the “loneliest way.”

Finneas also talks about what his favorite songwriting process has been in his career, and they’re both Eilish songs. “I would say my favorite process ever… ‘What was I made for?’ It’s hard to beat being inspired and having something like that…that was a full shopping cart of material.”

He also loved working on Charli XCX’s “Guess” remix, which featured Eilish. “We wrote it and recorded it after we wrote it,” he explained.

Eilish admits what it was like for Finneas to take a step back from rehearsals and songwriting to work on his own music, saying it was “sad and hard” but also a relief. “I feel like I spend all my time on tour and rehearsing like, ‘Oh my God, Finneas wants to leave’ or ‘Finneas is unhappy.'” I just look up to you so much and want you to have the best time have.

Finneas recently did an interview with Guitar.com and revealed that Eilish is learning to produce her own music without his help.

“I set up Billie’s recording studio for her so she could do the home production without me because she’s very good at it!” he told the publication. “And it’s funny, I kind of gave her the bare minimum of stuff just so she could learn everything.”

For Cryin’ Out Loud! will be released on October 4th.

Even if the malice on display between Walz and Vance wasn’t felt Tuesday, the intensity of that campaign — and the risks to the country on issues like the economy, abortion rights and climate change — shaped the entire proceedings.

While the two vice-presidential candidates elicited strong positive reactions in their own parties and strong negative reactions in the other parties, both seemed to understand that their essential role in the debate was to highlight those interests, appeal to their vice-presidential candidates, and attack the other party’s standard-bearers .

In the opening minutes, Walz repeatedly attacked former President Donald Trump, from his rambling debate appearance last month to comments from many of his former aides who questioned his character. Vance, meanwhile, responded in kind, going after Vice President Kamala Harris’ record and attempting to portray her as the race’s de facto incumbent who has failed to address the problems she supposedly wanted to solve.

One of the most contentious segments of the evening came when, when asked about Trump’s refusal to accept his defeat in the 2020 election, Vance also refused to call Trump lost, while also condemning the former president’s unprecedented efforts to ensure the peaceful transfer of power stop, downplayed.

The governor eventually pushed for Vance himself, to no avail. “That’s a damn non-answer,” Walz said as Vance tried to deflect by claiming Harris had censored speech during the coronavirus pandemic.

The vice presidential debate, usually an afterthought, became more important because of the dramatic turmoil in the campaign. For one thing, it’s unlikely that Harris and Trump will debate again, with barely a month left until November 5th. President Biden’s exit from the race and Harris’ rise to the top of the Democratic ticket underscore the importance of the number two role, particularly on the GOP side, since if Trump wins, he would be the oldest person ever to become president .

The risk for vice presidential candidates is that a great performance might not get many votes, while a poor performance could weigh on the overall result – something neither candidate could afford ahead of a presidential race that polls show will be decided by even narrower majorities than four votes could be years ago.

The senator from Ohio appeared increasingly elegant throughout the debate, cleverly avoiding answering questions and even trying to portray Trump’s weaknesses, such as the lack of a health care plan, as strengths. He refrained from making negative attacks on Walz and used the opportunity to weave in stories about his well-known rise from poverty to the Senate – a stark departure for a candidate who has often appeared combative in previous press appearances.

Walz, meanwhile, often misspelled. At one point he said, apparently at random, that he was friends with “school shooters”; At another point, when the governor was pressed on CNN to report that he said he was in China during the Tiananmen Square massacre when he wasn’t, he had no answer. “I’ve been a jerk sometimes,” Walz said, before admitting that he “worded something wrong there.”

Before the debate, both camps, as usual, praised their rivals’ abilities and downplayed expectations of their own performance. Walz is considered a talented communicator, but was never known in Minnesota as a particularly strong debater; Vance isn’t a natural, but he enjoys debate and is quick on his feet.

Both kept a low profile in the days leading up to the debate, while Walz gathered with allies in Michigan to prepare for the debate – including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who played Vance – and Vance prepared at home in Cincinnati. Walz’s old colleague in the Minnesota delegation, House Majority Leader Tom Emmer, acted as a sparring partner for Vance.

But the Ohio senator may have arrived on the debate stage in sharper fighting form than his Democratic rival: He has conducted a series of controversial interviews with mainstream media outlets in recent months, sometimes appearing on more than one high-profile Sunday news program each week. He had already been repeatedly pressed about likely debate topics, such as his past dislike of Trump and his controversial comments attacking “childless cat ladies.”

Walz rose to the forefront of vice presidential candidates in part because of his appeal in television interviews, but since his election he has not conducted a single individual interview with a national mainstream media, television or radio station. His only appearance at such a venue came in August, when he and Harris sat down for a joint interview on CNN in which Dana Bash pressed Walz over misrepresentations of his military career. Even with reporters who were on the campaign trail with him, the governor rarely spoke openly.

The debate produced moments that will shape each candidate — none of whom are nationally known — both positively and negatively for millions of voters. But each ended with a simple final message: vote not for her, but for her vice president.

LOS ANGELES – During the vice presidential debate, immigration became a heated topic, resulting in Senator JD Vance and Governor Tim Walz’s microphones being briefly muted.

The back and forth focused on the CBP One app, a key tool in U.S. border policy. Vance criticized the app, describing it as a way for migrants to gain legal status “through the wave of a Kamala Harris open borders wand.”

However, host Margaret Brennan fact-checked his claims, pointing out that many immigrants who used the app entered the U.S. legally.

“Since you are fact-checking me, I think it is important to say what is actually going on. “So there’s an application called the CBP One app that allows you to apply for asylum or parole and get legal status right away.”

What is the CBP One app?

CBP One is a free mobile app started by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2020. Originally designed for simple travel-related services such as scheduling cargo inspections, it has since become a critical tool for migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. Today, asylum seekers must use the app to make appointments at U.S. ports of entry and submit their biometric data for processing.

While the app aims to streamline the immigration process, there have been issues such as technical issues and limited access for migrants in remote areas.

Why is the CBP One app controversial?

The app has sparked debate because:

• Privacy concerns: Critics fear the app will misuse biometric data and GPS tracking.
• Racial bias: The app reportedly has difficulty detecting darker skin tones in its “vibrancy checks.”
• Access issues: Migrants without a smartphone or internet access are at a disadvantage because the app is the only way to make asylum appointments.

Is CBP One used at US airports?

Some politicians, such as Senator Josh Hawley, have raised concerns that the app is being used to allow migrants to board flights without proper identification.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) clarified that all non-citizens must undergo enhanced screening, including biometric checks, to confirm their identity before boarding.

In September, former President Donald Trump pledged to end the “migrant invasion” if re-elected, including blocking the CBP One app, which he described as the “Kamala phone app for smuggling illegals.”

As immigration continues to be a hot topic in the 2024 election, the CBP One app is facing increased scrutiny. Critics, including Vance and Hawley, argue that the app enables unauthorized migration. We are witnessing the end of an era in real time.

Over the past seven years, there has been no more dominant postseason presence than the Houston Astros. With two World Series wins since 2017 and plenty of October baseball in between, this Astros squad will go down in history. However, as we watch Houston take on the Detroit Tigers in the AL Wild Card round this week, it might feel a little strange.

For one thing, Dusty Baker isn’t in the dugout. Joe Espada has done a commendable job filling vacant spots, but Houston is the No. 3 seed and not their normal juggernaut self, and it’s quite another to watch Dusty Baker patrol the bench and call a play . It’s not the same.

You may also notice a noticeable absence from the Astros’ Wild Card roster. Justin Verlander, who appeared in both 2017 and 2022 World Series runs, is not in Houston’s postseason rotation. That may change as the Astros advance, but the 41-year-old former ace has fallen by the wayside this season. His 5.48 ERA and 1.38 WHIP simply aren’t indicative of an arm Houston can trust, especially with so much talent at the top of the pitching staff.

After two World Series rings and a historic career that has yielded three Cy Young awards, Verlander watched Game 1 from the dugout as Houston lost 3-1 after a dominant day behind the Tigers- Fireball player Tarik Skubal had behind him.

It’s hard to make up the 0-1 deficit in a three-game series. Without Skubal, Houston is more than capable of turning this series around, but the Tigers have plenty of momentum based on their late-season success. The Astros, on the other hand, are an older group facing unpleasant changes. The trend definitely favors Detroit.

Of course, this “last dance” for Houston is about more than just Baker and Verlander. We’re probably watching the end of Alex Bregman’s Astros career. The talented third baseman is set for a lucrative free agency contract and recent rumors suggest Bregman will find a new home. The Astros have already spent a lot of money and Kyle Tucker’s next contract is just around the corner. Houston shouldn’t cut costs, but that has never stopped a wealthy ownership group from charging their club in the past.

With Bregman likely on his way out after nine years and multiple successful postseason runs with the Astros, it’s hard to imagine what 2025 might look (and feel) in H-Town. There will be many familiar faces, but it won’t be the same core that fought through thick and thin, love and hate, to reach this very moment.

Bregman went 4-2 in Tuesday’s loss, providing plenty of offense for a Houston team that has otherwise struggled in that regard. There’s still plenty of time for the Astros to get back into this series and put together another impressive October campaign – only an idiot would rule them out – but with their backs against the wall, the ‘Stros are certainly vulnerable. This is not a situation we are used to from Houston’s baseball team.

Jennifer’s Body (2009) – Streaming on Disney+

Karyn Kusama’s inspirational horror-comedy, unfairly vilified in its time, has experienced something of a cultural reappraisal in recent years – or, to put it more simply, everyone seems to finally realize that “Jennifer’s Body” rules. Megan Fox plays Jennifer, a cheerleader who finds herself in a classic high school crisis: she’s possessed by a demon and driven by the urge to feast on the flesh of her classmates. Amanda Seyfried is her best friend Needy (yes, Needy), who senses that something isn’t quite right. It’s a riot. Rated R. 102 minutes. Director: Karyn Kusama. Directed by Neil Marshall (“Game of Thrones,” “Hellboy”), “The Descent” is often praised as one of the best horror films of the last 20 years. It deserves this reputation. Certainly, it is a masterclass in escalating tension, spreading fear long before the extent of the desperate scenario is fully realized. So what’s the premise? Six women who love nothing more than adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities head to the Appalachian Mountains for a thrilling spelunking adventure. Sketch comedy genius and horror writer Jordan Peele followed his Oscar-winning debut Get Out with this deeply unsettling high-concept horror film. Drawing on many horror subgenres (including post-apocalyptic, home invasion horror, and doppelganger stories), Us is a wild ride. Adelaide (Lupita Nyong’o), her husband Gabe (Winston Duke), and their two children are relaxing after a day at the beach when four mysterious strangers in matching jumpsuits show up in their driveway – four strangers who look just like the family they are You are on the hunt. Nyong’o’s bravura dual performance earned her numerous awards, including a Screen Actor’s Guild nomination for Best Actress, but while she stands out, the entire cast is outstanding. Happy Death Day (2017) – Streaming on Peacock

Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe became an instant scream queen with her performance in this clever horror-comedy that mixes the college slasher genre with Groundhog Day to create something fresh and devilishly funny. Tree (Rothe), a popular sorority girl, doesn’t seem particularly thrilled about her birthday – her evilness is clearly visible throughout the day. But just as we begin to suspect that our heroine has hidden depths, she is murdered by a creep wearing a baby mask. Luckily she wakes up and it’s the morning of her birthday again. Thus begins one of the most entertaining slashers of the decade, as we watch Tree try to solve her own murder – or murders in the plural, to be precise – in one time loop after another. Rated PG-13. Director: Christopher Landon. Featuring: Israel Broussard, Rachel Matthews, Phi Vu, Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken.

Vice presidential candidates JD Vance and Tim Walz met for a debate on Tuesday evening – the final scheduled debate of the 2024 campaign.

The debate gave Vance, a freshman Republican senator from Ohio, and Walz, a two-term Democratic governor of Minnesota, the opportunity to introduce themselves, advocate for their fellow candidates and attack the opposing party.

Tuesday’s game could have an outsized impact. Polls have shown Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump in a tight contest that gives added weight to everything that can sway marginal voters, including the impression made by the vice presidential candidates. It could also be the last debate of the campaign, as the Harris and Trump teams cannot agree on another meeting.

A vice presidential candidate’s role is typically to act as an attack dog for the person at the top of the ticket and to argue on stage against the opposing presidential candidate and his surrogate. Both Vance and Walz have accepted this role.

Vance’s occasionally confrontational news interviews and campaign appearances have underscored why Trump chose him for the Republican nomination, even though he has made biting criticisms of the former president in the past, including once suggesting that Trump was “America’s Hitler.”

Walz, meanwhile, catapulted himself into Harris’ campaign by branding Trump and the Republicans as “just weird,” creating a line of attack for Democrats who wanted to argue that Republicans are out of touch with the American people.

A new AP-NORC poll found Walz is more popular than Vance, potentially posing an additional challenge for the Republican.

After a Harris-Trump debate in which Republicans complained that ABC News anchors were fact-checking Trump, there were no corrections from the hosts in Tuesday’s debate.

Reeves is no stranger to recreating iconic Batman foes The Batman changed Edward Nigma to Edward Nashton and Oswald Cobblepot simply became Oz Cobb. Others have discovered that there is a book on hypnosis in Rush’s office. While it’s not out of the ordinary given the methods he uses on Sofia, hypnosis is a practice that Scarecrow uses frequently. Over on Reddit, one fan theorized: “The emphasis on the hypnosis device and the rather horrific artwork on the office wall seems to point to a twisted psychological aspect of his character.”

Crane seems the most likely candidate, especially thanks to Sofia’s master plan to introduce a new drug to the streets of Gotham. She had planned to work with her brother Alberto (Michael Zegen) to flood Gotham with the new narcotic, which she told Penguin would change the city forever. As well as theories about who Rush really is, there is much speculation that Sofia’s mysterious drug could be the poison compound associated with Bane or the Fear Toxin administered by Scarecrow. Despite this rehashing of elements from Nolan Batman beginsScarecrow could easily fit in as a supporting character The Penguin’s main story.

Others have noted that the name Julian Rush bears resemblance to Julian Day, also known as Calendar Man, although this appears to be a tenuous connection. Strange primarily borrowed money from the Falconis and used Arkham patients as test subjects. He even went so far as to turn them into Frankenstein-like experiments known as Monster Men. It’s a bit of a stretch for Reeves’ down-to-earth view of Batman, but seeing Rush/Strange as a crazy psychiatrist who exploits Sofia’s fragile mind for his own ends is easy to imagine. Back when Mark Strong was cast The penguinMany hoped he would play Hugo Strange, although we now know he was cast as Carmine Falcone (the successor to The Batmanis John Turturro). Strange is a character that is becoming increasingly popular, with others calling for Dave Bautista to play the mad scientist in James Gunn’s DCU, which is separate from the canon of Reeves’ Batverse.

Rossi has indicated that we will definitely see more Dr. Rush, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “If this was divided into Oz and Sofia sides, I’m on Team Sofia all the way… We first showed up in Akrham 10 years ago with the flashbacks, and then it’s really cheering, supportive, her doctor trying to get her to to bring yourself to be the worst person possible.” Could Rush be the real executioner, giving Sofia time for his crimes, or is he an altogether more legendary villain from Batman’s stuffed rogues gallery? Whether he’s just a simple doctor or is being framed as a major villain destined to cross Batman’s path, it doesn’t sound like Dr. Rush one of the good guys.

A man in California was arrested after he allegedly attacked three people, including a homeowner and a magician performing at a child’s birthday party.

The alleged attacks occurred across Pacific Palisades on Saturday, September 28, ABC 7 reports. The Los Angeles TimesAnd The Santa Monica Mirror.

The suspect, identified by the Los Angeles Timesciting the Los Angeles Police Department, Bryan Stennett, 36, committed his first attack when he allegedly punched a man in the 400 block of Mesa Road around 3:30 p.m. The victim’s identity or condition was not released.

Shortly thereafter, Stennett allegedly attacked homeowner Mike Deasy as he entered his home.

“The door was still open. When I turned around to close it, this guy came up to me and started crying at me,” Deasy claimed in an interview with ABC 7.

Deasy added The Los Angeles Times that he had left his door open because he was picking up a package that had been left on his porch and both hands were busy.

Surveillance footage shared with ABC 7 allegedly showed Stennett quietly approaching the entrance and asking Deasy, “Is this your house?” before running toward him.

“I thought if he threw more than six more of those punches I might become unconscious or something worse could happen,” claimed Deasy, who was later hospitalized with “serious injuries” to his hands and face.

He told The Los Angeles Times that he was cleared by doctors of a head injury but continues to be in “severe pain.”

The alleged third attack occurred at Rustic Canyon Recreational Park, where magician Richard Ribuffo, known as “California Joe, the Explorer Magician,” was performing for at least 20 children.

Ribuffo told The Los Angeles Times that he thought Stennett was one of the parents who was trying to be funny and sneak out from behind a tree before allegedly attacking him, leaving him with bruises and swelling on his head.

Alec Egan, the birthday boy’s father, and two of his friends are said to have pursued Stennett. While he managed to escape, the group followed him and kept an eye on him until officers arrived.

Stennett was arrested and booked into Van Nuys Jail on suspicion of assault, according to The Los Angeles Times. PEOPLE reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department but did not receive an immediate response.

Artificial intelligence tools, such as large language models (LLMs) and ways to use AI to market to new clients, are proving extremely useful for financial advisors. But they also pose new risks that are heavily assessed by regulatory bodies such as FINRA and the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

In recent weeks, authorities have addressed issues with emerging risks such as “AI washing,” where a company overstates its use of AI; Hallucinations that may occur when using models such as ChatGPT; and ethical concerns about using data to personalize marketing tactics to individuals.

“We need to understand not only how these models work, but also the opportunities and risks presented by each of the available models, particularly in generative AI,” said Brad Ahrens, senior vice president of advanced analytics at FINRA, on September 27 spoke at the Self-Regulatory Authority’s Advertising Regulatory Conference.

Preventing AI woes through regulation

A week before the FINRA conference, US Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler issued a somewhat humorous warning about and compared AI the film “Her”, in which an AI assistant Samantha forms a romantic bond with her user who relies too much on AI.

“Regulators and market participants, I think, need to think about what it means to have potentially 8,316 heartbroken financial institutions relying on an AI model or data aggregator,” Gensler said during his Sept. 19 speech Video “Office hours.” “Let’s do our best to keep this grief out of our capital markets.”

However, problems with AI tools are not always the most obvious cases, as when the The SEC charged two consulting firms in March for misleading the public by exaggerating the use of AI or the well-known hallucinations in large language models and so-called AI “deepfakes”.

Officials are weighing how companies use AI dictation services in meetings and whether a company’s employees are overly aware that that data can leak into the public learning models of OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude.

“If you use openai.com or anthropic.com, you should be concerned about your employees using that because there is a possibility that data could flow back into the models,” Ahrens said. “It’s happening.”

Another area where FINRA is seeing more AI use cases, according to Ahrens, is where a company uses chatbot-like AI to answer or summarize a question, such as how to handle disputes, if it is in an investment property There are multiple tenants in the property.

“A lot of companies use an LLM there, and they can just have the company put in a prompt or question that says, ‘What do I do if there’s a tenant dispute?’ And it will take them directly to the content of the manual using something called retrieval augmented generation,” he said.

FINRA didn’t necessarily take a position on this type of AI use, but officials stressed the importance of having a human monitor and compliance procedures on the back end or at the bottom line.

“How do you make sure this genetic AI works the way it’s supposed to? In other words, how do you monitor their use,” said Philip Shaikun, vice president and associate general counsel in FINRA’s Office of General Counsel. “You want to be sure that you have certain types of procedures in place, keeping a human updated and doing spot checks.”

That too applies to technology providerswhich both FINRA and the SEC have strongly emphasized and companies need to monitor closely. Amy Sochard, vice president of FINRA’s advertising regulation division, said companies need to double check with their existing vendors who may have transitioned their technology to AI since the contract was first signed.

For example, “If you didn’t update the vendor contract because it was a two-year contract, and you notice that they’re now using some kind of generative AI,” she said. “You need to know about this.”

AI could open the door to exploitative advertising

FINRA has updated its Rule 2210 guidance in May to incorporate the use of chatbots and AI in communications with investors and the public. While Ahrens said they “don’t see a lot of customer-facing use cases” due to the increased risks, they are seeing more “hyper-personalization of ads.”

This presents challenges to the use of AI and machine learning tools to track a customer and their behavior based on their so-called “digital footprint” for marketing.

“It opens the door to exploitative advertising tactics where advertisers may know more about a digital user than the person knows what they are giving up. And this is where we want to start talking about ethics,” said Rachael Chudoba, a senior planning and research strategist at McCann Worldgroup, a global advertising network.

Chudoba, who spoke at the FINRA conference, said that companies need to ensure that their teams are not only informed about the ethical concerns surrounding AI, but that they also understand how these are applied to the various tools and how they are used Tools work.

“For example: Is your bias and ethics training up to date to include generative AI situations? “Are your teams comfortable accessing and learning about AI legal and policy guidance?” she said. “And are you educating your teams on the systems you want them to use so they feel like the tools are explainable and transparent to them?”

FINRA relies on AI for sentiment analysis

FINRA itself is also experimenting with AI tools and behavioral data analysis. For example, AI is used to detect the sentiment of public comment letters submitted during a proposed rulemaking process, rather than requiring an individual to read thousands of comment letters.

“It’s not just a simple feeling that you’re used to – like happy, sad or mythical – it’s more about finding out: who wrote it, where did it come from? Then we group these. And then we actually go deeper into that feeling,” Ahrens said. “We have a number of use cases that are already in progress.”
