5 fantasy football players to win now

5 fantasy football players to win now

After three mostly slow weeks to start the NFL season, Week 4 gave us a variety of close games and/or offensive outbursts. When even the Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears can score a few touchdowns, you know the offenses are feeling it.

With so many high total scores, there are sure to be some interesting options available on your exemption transfer. Even considering a record of 0-4, it is still too early to give up on the season. These are the moments in which champions are made. Here are five players to target on the waiver line this week.

Downs may be considered the Colts’ No. 3 receiver, but unlike Pittman and Pierce before him, Downs appears to be quarterback-safe. Pittman needs Flacco to reach his full potential. Pierce needs Richardson to maximize his deep threat potential. Downs is just solid no matter what.

US Navy warship fires interceptor at Iranian ballistic missiles: Video

US Navy warship fires interceptor at Iranian ballistic missiles: Video

  • US Navy destroyers fired interceptors on Tuesday to protect Israel from Iran’s ballistic missile attack.
  • A new video shows one of the destroyers – the USS Bulkeley – launching its interceptors.
  • A Navy spokesman said it was believed several missiles had been “successfully fired.”

New video footage shared by the US Navy shows an American destroyer firing interceptors to attack Iranian ballistic missiles fired at Israel on Tuesday.

Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, said in a statement Wednesday that two destroyers operating in the eastern Mediterranean had used multiple Iranian missiles to defend Israel.

The ships involved Tuesday were the USS Cole and the USS Bulkeley. The destroyers are equipped with the advanced Aegis Combat System, designed for ballistic missile defense.

“It is believed that multiple missiles were successfully deployed at this time,” Urban said in a Navy statement shared with Business Insider, which also included footage of Bulkeley firing interceptor missiles.

Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday, in what Tehran said was retaliation for the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday and the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in July.

Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, an Israeli military spokesman, said much of the missiles were intercepted by Israel and a U.S.-led defense coalition.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said the US military had been “coordinating closely” with Israel to defend the country against the massive attack. He said American destroyers joined Israeli air defense units in firing interceptors to shoot down incoming missiles.

Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder identified the destroyers as Cole and Bulkeley. He said they fired about a dozen interceptors against the incoming Iranian missiles.

It is the second time in less than six months that the US military has defended Israel from an Iranian missile attack. Tehran fired more than 300 missiles and drones in April, a handful of which were intercepted by American forces.

The US has repeatedly said it will protect Israel and its own forces in the Middle East from any attack by Iran or its regional proxies.

Beyond the Cole and Bulkeley, the US has additional naval assets in the Eastern Mediterranean and around the Middle East for such scenarios – more than in the spring. The Pentagon also has significant air forces in the region, and additional forces have been on the move since Tuesday.

Some of the Iranian missiles fired on Tuesday hit Israeli air bases, although the massive barrage did not appear to cause significant damage. Senior US officials, including Vice President Kamala Harris, said Israel – with American support – managed to repel the attack.

Israel has promised to respond to the attack; It Iran was hit directly after the unprecedented bombing in April and has suggested that this could be the case again this time.

“Iran’s attack is a serious and dangerous escalation. There will be consequences,” Hagari, the Israeli military spokesman, said on Tuesday. “We will respond wherever, whenever and however we want, in accordance with the direction of the Israeli government.”

Israel – Hezbollah War: Israeli invasion of Lebanon – what is at stake?

Israel – Hezbollah War: Israeli invasion of Lebanon – what is at stake?

Wetin we call this photo, Israeli soybeans for Lebanon in 2006: Israeli soybeans make the fifth major attack in Lebanon since 1978

After days of bombing a neighboring country and targeted operations against the militant Hezbollah group, Israel is launching a ground invasion of Lebanon.

This is not the first time this has happened, and previous campaigns have not yielded mixed results.

So how do previous invasions differ from Odas?

1978: The first invasion

Wetin we call this photo, Israeli soldiers during the invasion of southern Lebanon in 1978 called it the Litani operation

Lebanon became the main location for Palestinian refugees after the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The refugees include Palestinian militias such as the PLO.

These militias attack Israel from Lebanon, which could lead to conflict between the two countries. In response to an attack by a Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) paramilitary group, Israel invaded Lebanon for the first time in 1978 and seized a bus after they landed on the beach. The violence leaves 38 Israeli civilians dead, in what is known in Israel as the Coastal Road Massacre.

Israeli forces invade southern Lebanon and withdraw two months later. They manage to hide within the neighbor and stay until the year 2000.

This first invasion killed up to 2,000 combatants and civilians on the Lebanese side. On the Israeli side, 18 soybeans died.

Israel’s main operation in Lebanon took place in 1982 during the Lebanese Civil War.

Thousands of Israeli soldiers, along with hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles, cross the border, mainly to push back the PLO and attack Israel from Lebanon.

The Israelis’ goal is to attack PLO positions to stop them from attacking Israel.

Israeli forces advance on several fronts and manage to reach the outskirts of the capital Beirut within a week.

During the attack, Israeli troops were responsible for the massacre of Palestinian refugees.

Three months later, the Israelis withdraw and create a buffer zone in Lebanon.

On the Lebanese side, up to 20,000 Pipo die, mostly civilians. On the Israeli side, 654 soybeans die.

1996: A new enemy and a new invasion

Wetin we call this photo, Thousands of Lebanese civilians have been trapped during crossfire between Hezbollah and Israel, such as an attack on the Lebanese town of Tebnin in April 1996

Israeli invasion in 1982, they succeed in ousting the PLO, they move their headquarters from Lebanon to Tunisia. But after the paramilitary group Hezbollah began launching the offensive, they also consider Israel an enemy and are trying to attack them.

In April 1996, Israeli forces took action against Hezbollah for the first time in response to rocket attacks by the Di Group. The attack was limited to an operation that lasted only two weeks.

Civilians suffer again – thirteen Hezbollah fighters and up to 250 civilians die on the Lebanese side. Israel suffers no losses.

Israel and Hezbollah do not still agree on how to deal with each other, such as rocket attacks by Islamist militants and bombings by the Israeli Air Force.

2006: 34 days of war

The one for July 2006. Hezbollah fighters not only shell Israeli towns across the border, but also cross the border and attack two military vehicles, killing eight soldiers and taking two hostage.

Israel responded with massive air strikes and artillery fire on targets throughout Lebanon, with air and naval blockades and a ground invasion of southern Lebanon.

The war lasted 34 days and ended with a ceasefire.

Approximately 1,191 Pipo die in Lebanon, the majority of whom are civilians. On the Israeli side, 121 soldiers and 44 civilians die.

What do military experts say?

Israel’s actions against Hezbollah do not change the balance between the two countries for the time being, according to Jeremy Bowen, editor of BBC International: “… in recent weeks Israel has destroyed the Hezbollah organization and destroyed half of its weapons.” American and Israeli authorities; and invade Lebanon.”

Israeli military analyst Yoav Stern told the BBC that I believe there is something similar With the 2006 strategy, with a limited attack, we set the tone again at this time – in contrast to the massive deployment of 1982.

“We will carry out a slow, careful and calculated invasion, including occupying cities in southern Lebanon one by one, rather than launching a rapid and comprehensive invasion along two main axes,” Stern said.

I would also like to say that Hezbollah has long been stationed in cities in southern Lebanon to prevent the possibility of Israel occupying these cities and quickly leaving them.

Wetin we call this photo, Search and rescue teams try to find Pipo, who were killed in an overnight Israeli airstrike on the Palestinian camp Ain Al Hilweh in Sidon, Lebanon, on October 1 – the day Israel announced that Dia troops would not be included begin operations in Lebanon

However, the difference between the situation in Lebanon and the Israeli campaign for Gaza after the Hamas attacks on October 7 is that it appears that Israel is militarily fit and is not reducing Hamas resistance.

The situation in Lebanon has become more difficult despite successful attacks on Hezbollah’s infrastructure and leadership.

“Hezbollah is not Hamas: it is damaged but still well-armed and strategically placed,” says Professor Amin Saikal, a Middle East expert at the Australian National University.

“This group is capable of endless resistance against the Israeli occupation. The destruction comes at a high human and material cost to the Jewish state,” I explain.

Jeremy Bowen says Israel is still failing to achieve one of the key objectives of its Gaza campaign.

“By all accounts, Hezbollah is receiving vast tunnel networks and facilities for southern Lebanon. One of their military intentions was to invade Gaza to dismantle the Hamas tunnel network, and almost a year later the Neva came.”

ParkerStore opens in Huntingburg – Dubois County Free Press, Inc.

ParkerStore opens in Huntingburg – Dubois County Free Press, Inc.

“We want to be the ace hardware in the hydraulics, pneumatics and motion controls industries,” said Todd Kesler, director of strategic initiatives and sales services for Air Hydro Power, the company that opened the new ParkerStore in Huntingburg.

Located in the same shopping center as its Houchens Industries affiliates, Ace Hardware and Sheldon’s Pharmacy in Huntingburg, ParkerStore offers hose, fittings, hydraulics, pneumatics and filtration products and services for a variety of industrial and agricultural needs.

The new store will celebrate its grand opening on October 10th with an open house, grand prizes and food from Oink, Inc. The flyer attached below provides more information about the event.

Kesler said Louisville-based Air Hydro Power opened the Huntingburg branch because of its connection to neighboring branches and the availability of customers in the area.

“Huntingburg and Jasper are a nice target area for us with our partner Ace (Hardware),” explained Kesler. “Because we are so well-known in Huntingburg and know we have a lot of underserved customers there, we decided to open a store there.”

“Our plan is to target the retail customers and service the MRO (Maintenance Repair and Operations) and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) markets that we have established there,” Kesler added.

Air Hydro Power franchises ParkerStore in approximately 32 markets nationwide, including four stores in Louisville and one in Evansville.

One area where the business excels is in carrying hard-to-find metric parts for more specialized applications in addition to the thread sizes required for agricultural applications. While you wait, they also make custom hoses.

“We probably have about 3,500 different products on the shelves in the store,” Kesler said, adding that they had access to $20 million worth of inventory overnight or the same day.

The 5,000-square-foot store, located at 1810 North Main Street in Huntingburg, is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The number is (930) 219 – 5833.

Farrah Fawcett died in Ryan O’Neal’s arms, says pal Alana Stewart

Farrah Fawcett’s close friend Alana Stewart is opening up about the Charlie’s Angels star’s relationship with longtime love Ryan O’Neal.

The actress died in the arms of the “Love Story” actor in 2009 at the age of 62. The cause of death was anal cancer.

Stewart, who runs the Farrah Fawcett Foundation, an organization founded by her boyfriend, confirmed to People magazine on Tuesday that the two were buried next to each other at Westwood Village Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

“I don’t think he ever really got over her death,” the 79-year-old told the outlet. “And now it’s sad because he’s gone, but I always think about them being together.”

“She basically died in his arms,” Stewart said. “I don’t think he was ever the same because she was definitely the love of his life and he was the love of her life.”

O’Neal died in 2023 at the age of 82.

Fawcett and O’Neal fell in love while she was married to Lee Majors, star of The Six Million Dollar Man. According to the outlet, sparks flew after Majors asked O’Neal to check on his wife while he was out filming.

“She basically died in his arms… I don’t think he was ever the same because she was definitely the love of his life and he was the love of her life.”

Fawcett and O’Neal began dating in 1979 when she and Majors separated before divorcing in 1982. They then had an on-again, off-again relationship for 17 years. In 1985 they had a son, Redmond O’Neal.

The outlet noted that the two broke up in 1997 but reunited in 2001 after O’Neal was diagnosed with leukemia. They never married.

“When she and Ryan were home with their son, who was very young, she cooked the meals,” Stewart said. “And when she had to go to the location for something because she was working a lot at the time, they would pack up the whole family and head out.”

“Her personal life was a more normal life in that respect,” Stewart said. “Just when she went public, people went crazy.”

When Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, O’Neal stayed by her side.

“Right to the end she was still fighting and Ryan was there the whole time; ever since she was diagnosed with cancer, it’s been there,” Stewart told the outlet.

In 2023, Stewart told Fox News Digital that Fawcett began showing symptoms while caring for her mother in Texas for a few months. The matriarch died in 2005 at the age of 91.

“Her mother was dying,” Stewart recalled. “And then while she was there she started having some symptoms [in Texas] but I ignored them. She took care of her mother and that was her focus. But when she came back, Ryan said, “You need to go to the doctor and get it checked out.” So she did. They did a colonoscopy and that’s when they found it.”

“That’s part of our mission statement – education and prevention,” Stewart said. “It’s so important to recognize things early. Maybe if she had listened to her body and gone to the doctor, the outcome might have been different when she started having symptoms. It’s so easy to brush symptoms aside because you think, ‘Oh, it’s nothing serious,’ or ‘I’ll deal with it next week, next month.’”

“When it comes to cancer, early detection is everything,” Stewart emphasized. “So many types of cancer can be cured these days if they are caught early enough. With Farrah, she was already in stage four. If she had done something about the symptoms early on, she could still be alive today.”

Stewart said she and O’Neal reached out to each other for support during Fawcett’s battle with cancer.

“He was by her side every moment,” Stewart said. “We didn’t want to admit that things weren’t looking good. I don’t think Farrah did that either. She was determined to keep fighting. Dave Martinez of the Washington Nationals praises his veteran starting pitcher

Dave Martinez of the Washington Nationals praises his veteran starting pitcher

When the Washington Nationals signed Patrick Corbin as a free agent before the 2019 season, he was a talented, two-time All-Star coming off a season in which he finished fifth in National League Cy Young Award voting.

They agreed on a six-year contract worth $140 million because they were very optimistic about the future. In the first year, he showed exactly why it was a great move.

He finished 11th in Cy Young Award voting, going 14-7 in 33 starts and 202 innings, striking out 238 batters. He struck mightily in the postseason, pitching three shutout innings as a replacement for Max Scherzer out of the bullpen to seal Game 7 against the Houston Astros in the World Series.

This was by far the highlight of Corbin’s tenure with the franchise. Since then, there hasn’t been much to be excited about on the field.

2019 was the last time the Nationals reached the postseason, and the veteran left-hander was a serviceable player on the mound.

Since 2020, there has not been a pitcher in baseball who has given up more hits or had more earned runs scored against him. He also leads all pitchers with 70 losses.

Still, manager Dave Martinez had high praise for his veteran pitcher. There’s more to it than just a player’s record.

“Forget about the wins and losses,” Martinez said, via Jessica Camerato of MLB.com. “He went out there and competed and supported us in a lot of ball games. I can go back and look at games where maybe we made a mistake behind him or didn’t quite score the goals we needed him to, but he never complained. He just kept going out there. Gotta love it.”

While the production may not have been what Corbin or the team wanted it to be, he proved reliable. Every time it was his turn in the rotation, he answered the call and gave the team everything he had.

Washington threw 946.2 innings in six seasons. He made at least 30 starts in eight consecutive full seasons, not counting the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season in which he played all 11 rounds while in rotation.

That kind of reliability, despite the challenges of matching his abilities, is what the Nationals manager valued in Corbin.

“I’m really proud of him because there were a lot of people out there who went through what he went through and probably would have called it quits; He didn’t,” Martinez said. “Every five days he would take the ball and be out there. I’m very proud of him and whatever happens, I enjoyed my time with him. I know we will always stay close. His family is great. I’m so happy I could be a part of his career.”

Corbin’s term in the nation’s capital is likely over. With so many young players ready to get things done in the starting lineup, his services may no longer be needed.

They will all benefit from playing alongside a veteran of his caliber. The last five years have been challenging, but Corbin will forever be remembered for helping the team win a championship in 2019.

The Daily Show accuses Tim Walz of stealing “every Republican schtick.”

The Daily Show accuses Tim Walz of stealing “every Republican schtick.”

The vice presidential debate left “The Daily Show” host Michal Kosta in shock, and it had nothing to do with either candidate’s policies. The senior correspondent expressed his surprise at Democratic candidate Tim Walz on Comedy Central’s live show after Tuesday night’s debate.

“Walz quotes a book that I didn’t think Democrats had ever read. I guess it’s called Bibble?” Kosta joked before switching to a clip of Walz.

“I don’t talk much about my faith, but Matthew 25:40 says, ‘You do something to me to the least of us,'” Walz said during the debate.

“Wow. Tim Walz really stole every Republican schtick. He’s folksy, he loves cars, hunting, quoting the Bible,” Kosta said. “What’s next? We’re going to find out he’s the webmaster of Nude Africa Dotcom? “

That final glimmer was a nod to Republican candidate for North Carolina governor Mark Robinson. Last month, a CNN investigation revealed that Robinson described himself as a “black Nazi!” and wrote comments supporting the reintroduction of slavery, comments that were found on various porn forums. Robinson denies it was him.

“The Daily Show” took several other shots of the two candidates, from jokingly saying that Vance and Walz “both hate Donald Trump” to a clip of them showing every time the two agreed on something Kosta as “surprising and, frankly, boring as shit.” The Tuesday night host also poked fun at Walz’s response to the hosts’ question about his claims about Tiananmen Square.

“You know you’re screwing up the Tiananmen Square issue when you look more nervous than the guy staring into the tank,” Kosta said to laughter and groans from the studio audience.

But the main subject of ridicule for “The Daily Show” was the media. Kosta began his monologue by pretending to set up the vice presidential debate before breaking into a grin and saying that “the stakes aren’t that high.”

“The only other vice presidential debate anyone remembers is when a fly got stuck on Mike Pence’s head. The bar is low,” Kosta said. Instead, he said the debate was a “historic opportunity” for the news media to “get people watching TV.”

Kosta also mocked CBS News’ addition of a QR code during the debate. After ABC faced backlash over its anchors’ live fact-checking of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, CBS used the technology to allow viewers to watch CBS reporters’ fact-checking on their cell phones.

“Yes, a QR code. Perfect journalism!” said Kosta. “If a candidate tells a lie, why should they correct it in front of the 50 million people watching live? I just have a link for the 12 nerds who bother to scan it. Should I be impressed that they have a QR code? Every asshole has a QR code.”

To prove its point, “The Daily Show” included two different custom QR codes in its opening monologue. Watch the full video above.
