Once you marched past the rows stacked with endless copies of the latest release at your local Blockbuster, you could discover films and TV shows that either flew under the radar or were deemed too scandalous for mainstream tastes. (Stumbling across the grotesque cover art for horror B-movies and being mildly traumatized by it was practically a rite of passage for people of a certain age.) There isn’t nearly the same selection on Netflix—especially not now in His Library increasingly consists of the service’s originals – but it also allows certain older, somewhat forgotten titles to find new life, however fleeting.

Nunes is a Brazilian icon and social media superstar with a huge online fan base. He has an overall record of 2-2-1 with 1 KO in his boxing career. Known for his charismatic presence both in and out of the ring, Nunes has faced notable opponents, including his fight against legendary world champion Acelino “Popó” Freitas in 2022, which went eight rounds and resulted in a draw for the fighters. “I grew up watching big names in boxing, so it’s an honor to be a part of this card and challenge myself in this sport,” Nunes said.

Sports and music tourism will become the ‘dynamic duo’

The trend of following favourite sports teams or artists around the world is picking up with travellers like never before. Sports tourism alone was valued at a staggering USD 564.7 billion (approximately INR 46.87 trillion) in 2023, and it’s projected to reach USD 1.33 trillion (approximately INR 1,10,456 crore) by 2032. Music tourism is also on the rise, expected to hit USD 13.8 billion (approximately INR 1.15 trillion) by 2032.

Why are fans so passionate about these experiences? Sumit Prakash, Country Director of Collinson International, explains: “Fans are not only travelling more, but they’re also willing to spend significantly to make their trips extra special as they believe this to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sports fans are particularly big spenders, with over half exceeding USD 500 (INR 41,500 approximately) per trip. Younger travellers, aged 25-34, are the most enthusiastic, often spending over USD 1,000 (INR 83,000 approximately) per trip for sports and music events.”

With a slew of music concerts and sporting events lined up for 2025, Mohak Nahta, founder of Atlys, predicts that demand will continue to soar. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in recent years,” he says. “Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour fueled a 20 percent increase in visa applications, and Coldplay’s concerts in Singapore and Paris led to significant surges in tourism.”

The continual quest for literally cool and waterside holidays – a seasonal travel trend – will remain high on the agenda in 2025, with ‘coolcations’ showing no signs of dimming. “Water is no longer the backdrop but the main event with a majority (51 percent) of travellers feeling that climate change will impact the way they plan their vacation in 2024, while over half (56 percent) looking to travel to destinations to cool down as temperatures soar close to home,” notes Santosh Kumar, Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia at Booking.com.

“This has led to the rise of water-centric travel, which takes the edge off the heat and helps travellers wash away their worries. Three-quarters (75 percent) of global travellers feel that being close to water instantly makes them feel more relaxed, while 36 percent are interested in taking water-centric vacations this year. This trend also paves the way for modern wellness retreats that include ice therapy, water sound baths, snow meditation and floating yoga for travellers seeking wellness and rejuvenation from their trips.”

Forget ‘bed rotting’. The latest travel trend for 2025 is ‘hurkle-durkling’ — an old Scottish term for leisurely lounging in bed. This trend, popularised on social media, is resonating with travellers seeking a more relaxed and rejuvenating vacation experience. Whether it’s a leisurely morning snooze or a full day of relaxation, there’s no limit to how you can enjoy hurkle-durkling. This trend is gaining popularity as travellers increasingly prioritise rest over packed itineraries. Chris Silcock, President of Global Brands and Commercial Services at Hilton, agrees, noting that ‘hurkle-durkling’ is particularly appealing to younger generations.

According to Hilton’s research, one-fifth of global travellers enjoy ‘hurkle-durkling’ on vacation, but younger generations are even more enthusiastic about this trend. Around 30 percent of Zillennials (those born between 1990 and 2000) embrace this leisurely activity, compared to 11 percent of Gen Z and Baby Boomers. This suggests that for many younger travellers, prioritising relaxation and downtime is more important than chasing “Instagrammable” experiences.

Sober tourism will be the life of the travel trend party in 2025

When the ‘no and low alcohol’ trend took over the alco-bev industry in 2024, its impact on hospitality and tourism was firmly anticipated in 2023. Demand for culinary tourism will boil over

Food tourism is no longer an afterthought. Travellers are actively seeking out unique culinary experiences to deepen their understanding of a destination. From Michelin-starred restaurants to local food festivals, culinary experiences are becoming a central focus of travel. Travellers are dedicating time and resources to exploring new flavours and discovering the stories behind them. Aditi Dugar, Founder & Director of Masque Restaurant, believes that 2025 will be a year of culinary tourism. “We’re really at an interesting cusp when it comes to food. Our palates are looking for exciting new flavours and the stories and experiences that come with them.”

There are several ways to update your Google Pixel smartphone to the latest patch or operating system available. If you’re ready to take matters into your own hands, you can skip the wait by downloading an OTA update to your Google Pixel. We’ll show you how to do it.

Luckily, the entire process is pretty simple. While many hardcore Android fans know exactly what to do, not everyone is as adept at updating their phone. First, there are some differences in the types of updates you can install on your Android phone.

The difference between Android updates

Monthly or periodic updates are incremental, with full updates reserved for major releases – they are typically released close to the release of the next new Pixel. In this case, an OTA or “over-the-air” update can be flashed relatively easily and will not restore any of your app or system settings when applied. To revert to a previous version of Android, you will need a “factory” image. We have a dedicated guide to downgrading your Pixel that explains this process:

To recap, there are several ways to update your Pixel to the latest official Google OTA update – you can wait until your phone receives a notification asking you to download any waiting updates to your phone. This is usually the slowest method.

You can also force your phone to get all pending updates by going to Settings > System > System update > Check for updates. This process is slightly faster and can be done as soon as an announcement confirms that an update is available. However, as with the OTA notification method, it may take a while for files to become available.

The fastest way to get the latest update on your Google Pixel is to sideload the official OTA zip file. Google offers several ways to do this, but both require access to a PC, Mac, or laptop.

It is also worth noting that this process works for almost all Android devices. You must obtain the official OTA files for your specific device manufacturer before attempting to sideload using this method. There may also be limitations for devices from manufacturers such as Xiaomi that have an active SIM card and device account active for a preset period of time before sideloading is enabled.

You’ll need to use ADB or Android Debug Bridge to load an OTA update to your Pixel. We recommend installing the unpacked Platform Tools package on your desktop for quick access when running commands. You can download the latest platform-tools zip file here. ClockWorkMod’s universal ADB drivers also make the process much easier if you’re using a Windows computer, compared to the drivers already on your computer.

Alternatively, Corbin Davenport’s Nexus Tools provide a very easy way to ensure you always have the latest version of Platform tools on your Windows, Mac or Linux machine. Nexus Tools is written in Dart and runs on Linux, macOS, Windows, Windows Subsystem for Linux, and Chrome OS. Once Nexus Tools is ready, you can run it adb, fastbootand other commands without any problems or problems.

Enable USB debugging

First, make sure your Pixel has Developer Options turned on. You can do this by going to your device’s Settings > About Phone and now tap on “Build Number” until a message confirms that you have turned on Developer Options.

Now you need to go to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options (you may need to expand a hidden menu for this). Scroll down to “Debug” section and tap “Allow USB debugging” Option. It’s also worth noting that if you want to downgrade again at any point, you may want to enable “OEM Unlocking.” However, note that you can still download OTA updates to your Pixel without this option enabled.

Download the latest OTA file for your device

You’ll need a few things before attempting to sideload an OTA file onto your Google Pixel. First, we need the latest OTA update available for your specific Pixel device. Google hosts the official builds for each Pixel on the dedicated developer page.

It is important to select the correct OTA file for your device as this method will fail if you try to install the wrong build for your device. With 4 years of security patches, the “Made by Google” smartphone series is guaranteed to receive three full operating system upgrades for models before Pixel 6. This means that many Pixel series from Google no longer receive official updates. Below are the currently supported hardware roadmaps:

The Pixel 6 will stop receiving “full” system updates starting November 2024, but according to official update schedules, it’s due for another two years of monthly patches. Below you can see which device is no longer supported:

Boot your Pixel into recovery mode

To start the process, you need to boot your Pixel into recovery mode, which allows sideloading. To access recovery mode, turn off your phone completely. Then press and hold the button Performance And Volume down buttons exactly the same time until you get to the bootloader page.

Navigate down to using the physical volume buttons Recovery mode. To select this option, simply click the power button. Alternatively, if you have connected your smartphone to a computer via USB-C, you can use that Restart recovery Command or start bootloader and use volume keys to enter recovery mode:

Mac: ./adb reboot bootloader

or Mac: ./adb reboot recovery

You should see a smaller Android device with an exclamation mark above it. When this screen appears, press the button Power button and the Volume up button for about a second to fully enter recovery mode. Release of the Increase volume The button will take you directly to recovery mode.

Navigate to the ADB sideload

Use the volume buttons to scroll down again “Apply update from ADB” and select this option using the power button. This will open a mostly blank screen with text at the bottom telling you how to sideload an OTA.

Assuming you’ve followed the initial steps to install the ADB tools on your computer and placed them in an easily accessible folder or drive, you can connect your smartphone to your computer if you haven’t already. You need to open a command prompt or terminal window in the directory or folder where you saved the Platform Tools file.

A quick method is to find the correct folder and type “cmd” in the address bar on Windows, or Shift-tap “Open PowerShell window here.” PowerShell is practically the same as Command Prompt. So don’t worry too much because it works the same way but you have to use the Mac specific commands here.

If you’re using a Mac and have the Platform-Tools folder on your desktop, type “./cd Desktop,” press Enter, then “./cd Platform-Tools.” Alternatively, you can right-click the location of the unzipped folder and select “New Terminal in Folder” to quickly open exactly where you need to be.

On Mac OS, you sometimes need to reconnect the USB-C cable after starting recovery because Macs sometimes don’t recognize your device until you do this.

To check if your Pixel is detected and connected, type the following and press the “Enter” or “Return” key:

Windows: adb devices

Mac/Powershell: ./adb deviceS

Assuming you have connected your smartphone correctly, a random serial number will appear with further details to confirm that it has been connected securely. You may see an “Allow USB Debugging” prompt on your Pixel’s screen. If you are using a trusted PC, turn on the “Always allow from this computer” option to seamlessly enable future updates.

Enter the sideload command

As long as everything is in place, you can now sideload the OTA file. On Windows, make sure your command prompt points to the ADB tools folder and type:

Windows: adb sideload

Mac/Powershell: ./adb sideload

Then you need to enter the file name of the original ZIP folder that you downloaded from Google and press Enter to start the OTA sideloading process on your Pixel. If everything is working properly, you should see a dialog box showing the sideload and installation process on your computer and mobile device. This may take a while and in some rare cases the process may fail. If this is the case, simply start the process again, as multiple attempts may be required for reasons we do not yet fully understand.

note: Another easy method is to drag and drop the ZIP folder into the Command Prompt or Terminal window after entering the sideload command. This ensures that you don’t make any typos or errors in the file name/structure. Press the “Enter” or “Return” key. This should initiate the page loading process on your device.

Restart your phone

Once the OTA installation is complete, return to recovery mode. The final step to jump into the new update is to select the Restart now option with your power switch. Once your phone restarts you should be sure to be updated with the latest OTA.

An easy way to check that you have followed all of these steps correctly and sideload the OTA file is to go to Settings > About Phone > Android Version. This should be exactly on the patch you sideloaded, indicating you have successfully completed the process.

Note: This process will not erase your device, but it is a good idea to back up any irreplaceable data in the rare event that something goes wrong.

Taylor and Savannah Searels remember the days when, as children, they went from floor to floor in the Butts-Mehre Building in Georgia playing a game called “elevator tag.”

Her father was then, as now, the Bulldogs’ offensive line coach.

“We literally owned these elevators,” Taylor Searels said. “We were definitely a threat in that facility. No one could take the elevator without us, but we gave out candy, so there were discounts.”

Stacy Searels’ coaching career spanned more than a half-dozen stops and his daughters accompanied him along the way, starting at Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina, where they were born, and moving to places like Cincinnati, LSU, Texas and Virginia Tech.

Now the Searels’ daughters are on their own and have found their home in Austin, where the Georgia football team and Stacy Searels have a field day Saturday when the No. 4 Bulldogs take on No. 1 Texas.

It’s also a big day for Taylor Searels.

She is the recruiting director for Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorn program, where she has worked since his freshman season in 2021. She will oversee several official visitors this weekend, along with more than 100 families attending the game on unofficial visits.

“I’m not going to lie, I was stressed about the game because someone’s going to lose and someone’s not going to be happy,” Savannah said. “I don’t want to be in the middle of it, but it’s a really cool experience for our family – they both get to hang out while their teams are both doing really well.”

It will be a busy day for Taylor on Saturday as recruits come through the College GameDay set, visit the recruiting tailgates and introduce them to the right coaches and people on campus.

“It’s a really important day,” she said. “We have a lot of commits ahead of us.”

So she has little time to see her parents or sister this weekend.

“Dad asked if I could come to the hotel, but I don’t think I can visit him,” she said.

As they talked Monday, Stacy Searels told her, “I’ll wave to you on the field.”

“I thought, ‘Perfect,'” Taylor Searels said. “I hope I can sneak away from the recruiting hatch for a second to talk to him on the field before the game, but I have a lot of people who need to do that.” After the game we will recruit a few more of these people. I hope to see the family briefly, but it’s going to be crazy.”

Taylor said her introduction to recruiting came during her father’s first deployment to Georgia from 2007 to 2010, when she was still in middle school. She’d go to recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner’s office or try to help her dad with junior days.

When Searels left for Texas, where he coached the line from 2011 to 2013, Taylor was there again.

“I loved it,” she said.

When Taylor attended college at Auburn — where her father was an All-American offensive lineman who blocked for Bo Jackson and Savannah was there as well — she worked in football recruiting and then got a job at Vanderbilt as an on-campus recruiting coordinator.

She came to Texas in 2021 as Director of Recruiting Operations and was promoted to her current position in February. Savannah moved to Austin six months after Taylor because it was one of her favorite places growing up.

“The coach’s kids either go one way or the other,” said Taylor, now 27. “They either run straight into the football or they run straight away. My sister obviously took the normal route.”

Savannah, 24, is a fifth-grade teacher in Austin.

Taylor said her mother, Patricia, is actually the best recruiter in the family.

“She’s basically my dad’s recruiting director,” Taylor said. “I have now learned everything I need for my job from both of them. It’s definitely a way of life for my family.”

Stacy Searels, 59, is in his third season back at Georgia under Kirby Smart.

Savannah remembers getting stuck in those elevators during his first stint with Mark Richt while playing with Anna Courson, who now works as a recruiter at Georgia.

“We were pretty kid-friendly when I was there,” said Richt, who also employed Searels in Miami from 2016 to 2018. “There was a lot of that — kids running around at practice, running around the building. Bowl games were a lot of fun for these kids.”

Patricia Searels, who met her husband when they both attended Auburn, is a licensed psychiatrist and Taylor said she is able to speak to families of all backgrounds.

“She can find a way to connect with them,” Taylor said. “My father won’t go to a recruiting event without her by his side.”

Taylor said it was an all-hands-on-deck affair for the Searels, as both she and her sister constantly went to practice growing up and her mother previously worked as a counselor at Georgia and LSU.

“She taught how to interact with people, how to be present and how to help with recruiting,” Taylor said.

Savannah helps Taylor with tailgate recruiting and picking out her game day outfit on Thursdays.

“I’m on FaceTime with my mom and my sister,” Taylor said.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Texas currently has the No. 6 recruiting class nationally, one spot behind Georgia. The Longhorns have five offensive line commitments.

“Half of their O-line offered Texas,” Taylor said. “Half of the Texas O-line, Dad offered. We’re really competitive and very close in that regard.”

Negative recruiting has to be ruled out in this case, right? Not quite.

“I always ask the recruits: Who are your favorite Sears? Surely it’s not this old man. “It’s me, right?” she said, laughing.

Taylor knew Georgia-Texas would inevitably end up on the schedule once the Longhorns moved to the SEC.

“I’ve never cheered against my dad in my life, so this is the first time I’ve had this experience where I’m not in the stands with my mom and sister,” Taylor said. “It just feels surreal that it’s finally here. I’m kind of ready for it to be over.”

All the Searels went to Auburn, but Savannah now expressed her divided loyalties, especially for this game: “Go Dawgs and Hook ‘Em!”

A former South Florida fire chief has been accused of using taxpayer money for personal purchases while on the job.

Former Miramar Fire Chief Robert Palmer’s purchases included $900 in fishing reels, rental slides, a drone and expensive amplifiers, NBC6 reported.

Investigators concluded that Palmer purchased the items using his city-issued purchase card over a five-year period from 2017 until shortly before his retirement in 2022.

After Palmer’s retirement, investigators began examining over 400 purchases made with his P card. As of September 2023, they compiled a list of dozens of items that were “…not consistent with purchases made for the…fire department.” The total value of these items was $35,931.34, according to a police report.

The items ranged from nearly $800 for a welder to golf cart replacement parts to eight tactical gun cases and a $600 ice maker from Best Buy. Police said some of the purchases were delivered to the fire department headquarters and others went to Palmer’s home.

A memo from the Broward State Attorney’s Office’s Public Corruption Unit said the investigation began with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, but “the city of Miramar decided…” that its police department’s internal affairs division would take over the investigation, according to the Station reported

Police inspected several fire stations but were unable to find any of the items listed. Shortly afterward, the sergeant assigned to the case told prosecutors, “His command had asked him to stop the investigation…” one memo said.

Broward prosecutors declined to prosecute, saying they believe “Palmer actually stole approximately $35,931.34 from the city of Miramar.” However, it would be “nearly impossible” to obtain the evidence needed received, which was partly due to delays in reporting and the city’s “disinterest in working with law enforcement.”

The investigative reporter noted that the city gave prosecutors a copy of a check showing that Palmer had repaid the city the amount owed, more than $35,000. The check is dated March 2023. But when NBC6 Investigates asked the city for a copy of the check, they submitted a check dated September 2023, six months later and after prosecutors had closed the case.

At this time, the city has not explained why there are two separate checks or provided documentation showing that either check was cashed.

DeMaria said he believes the city should have recused itself from the investigation. “Do I think it looks good that they basically took it away from the FDLE and brought it into the house?” He asked, “I don’t think that looks good.”
