Barrier Islands and Clearwater Beach have reopened for some

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. – The Barrier Islands and Clearwater Beach reopened to residents, business owners and employees on Saturday.

The city of Clearwater opened access at 4 p.m

Residents and business owners must prove their residency or property interest with a photo ID, vehicle registration, property tax or utility bill, proof of employment, work orders or re-entry pass to get through police checkpoints.

Employees are also granted access with appropriate ID.

Beach communities remain closed to visitors. Pier 60 also remains closed due to damage.

Officials are urging anyone granted access to exercise caution as many traffic lights will not be working and cleaning vehicles will be on the move.
