Brentford 1-1 West Ham: “It has to be a world record” – what is Brentford’s secret?

Brentford 1-1 West Ham: “It has to be a world record” – what is Brentford’s secret?

It is not recommended to arrive late, even by a minute, to watch Brentford in the Premier League.

The Bees achieved the remarkable feat of scoring in the first 40 seconds in each of their last three Premier League games.

It started on September 14th against Manchester City when Yoane Wissa scored after 22 seconds.

Bryan Mbeumo was responsible for keeping the trend going – scoring after 23 seconds against Tottenham and 37 seconds against West Ham.

“I can’t tell you that [the secret]said Brentford coach Thomas Frank after the 1-1 draw against West Ham.

“Is it just the Premier League? There are many leagues. I need to know if it’s a world record or not.”

“That has to be a world record, three games in a row under 40 seconds – that’s incredible.”

Frank, like the rest of us, was keen to find out whether Brentford’s speedy efforts had set a world record this month.

The answer is possibly, but we can’t say for sure.

However, we are sure that Brentford are the first team in Premier League history to score in the first minute in three consecutive games.

The west London club also became the second club in Premier League history to score a first-minute goal in three different games in a season, after Everton in 1998/99.
