“I am deeply saddened:” President Biden releases statement on Hurricane Helene

In a recent statement, President Joe Biden said he was deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.

President Biden said he and Vice President Kamala Harris will continue to focus on life-saving and life-sustaining relief and recovery efforts.

“I am regularly updated by my team on ongoing response efforts, and my administration is in constant contact with state and local officials to ensure communities receive the support and resources they need,” Biden said.

According to the White House, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, along with other state and local officials, will travel across the Southeast to assess the damage.

While the recovery may be lengthy, Pres. Biden said his administration will be with you “every step of the way.”

“We won’t go away. We won’t give up. “As we turn to recovery efforts, we will ensure that no resources are spared to ensure that families, businesses, schools, hospitals and entire communities can quickly begin rebuilding,” the president said.

Biden said he and first lady Jill Biden are praying for those who lost loved ones and for those whose homes, businesses and communities were affected by the hurricane.
