Brentford – West Ham 1-1: What Thomas Frank said

Brentford coach Thomas Frank spoke to BBC Match of the Day about his side’s first-minute goal in their third league game in a row: “I can’t tell you that [the secret]. That has to be a world record, three games in a row under 40 seconds – that’s incredible.

“We had a plan again, it’s the attitude to play forward and try to get into the game straight away. I’m very happy with that.”

On Bryan Mbeumo’s great start to the season: “Bryan is on fire, there’s no doubt about it. He moved the team forward in many ways, scoring goals and creating chances.”

“I think he’s scored five goals now and he’s improving a lot.”

About the performance: “That’s a good point. I’m always disappointed when we don’t get three. We were the better team for 75 minutes.”

“West Ham were superior to us for 15 minutes at the start of the second half. Considering we have nine first-team players, we had nothing to shoot for.”

“I am optimistic for the future. If you can play like that against a good West Ham team, I’m confident it will work.”

“What I like about my team is the mentality. We kept going.”
