Reward for tips on I-29 Speedway homicides

PACIFIC JUNCTION, Iowa (WOWT) – Authorities are asking the public for help solving the deaths of two Omaha men last month at I-29 Speedway.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. on August 10, when a car show and music festival were taking place at the venue. Marcus L. Johnson, 28, and Charles A. Williams Jr., 27, both died.

The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation and Omaha police on Friday appealed for any information that could help them identify suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with information leading to an arrest in the double murder case is eligible for a $25,000 reward from Omaha Crime Stoppers.

According to a report from a 6 News media partner on the night of the shooting, the OPD’s ABLE-1 helicopter was called in to help search for at least three suspects who were reportedly in a black Mercedes sedan.

The Williams family told 6 News last week they hope someone will come forward to help them understand what happened.

“It could be the smallest piece of information that could help us figure out who did this to our child, our child,” Charles Williams Sr. said.

Tips can be requested by calling OPD at 402-444-5610; or submitted to Omaha Crime Stoppers online or by phone at 402-444-STOP (7867). The P3 Tips app allows you to tip anonymously.
