Record heat possible at the end of the week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Unseasonably warm weather continues across the Mid State

A cooler day is expected across the Mid State today, with temperatures dipping into the upper 70s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

It will also be cooler this evening, with lows around 50°C until tomorrow morning.

We’ll warm up quickly tomorrow afternoon, with highs in the mid 80s during the day. With a high temperature of 86°C in Nashville, the record of 84°C set in 1973 will be broken.

A cold front will approach the Mid State late Friday and into Saturday, mixing in some more cloud cover, but a few isolated showers will also be possible as the front moves through. Not everyone will see rain in the end.

Saturday will be cooler and partly sunny again, otherwise highs will fall back into the 70s. The night will be cool with lows in the 40s Sunday morning.

Sunday afternoon will be even cooler with temperatures in the 60s and lower 70s.

We’ll warm up a bit more on Monday, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and partly cloudy skies.

The middle of next week looks breezy on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a mix of clouds and sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80s.
