Lansing receives federal clean energy funding

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Michigan is seeing a federal investment in solar energy.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor was at City Hall along with State Representative Julie Brixie and a representative from the Environmental Protection Agency to talk about this green initiative.

The state will receive $156 million for Michigan’s Solar for All program and another $148 million for weatherization initiatives.

A portion of this goes to Lansing and its residents to create jobs and save energy.

Mayor Schor says this money will help keep energy costs down for people in the Lansing area.

“Not only do they want to have clean energy, they also want to save money. If you weatherproof your house, if you seal your windows, if you make sure everything is efficient, you use less energy, and that’s good for everyone,” Schor said.
