What to Expect at a New In-N-Out Burger Coming to Carson – Daily Breeze

A new In-N-Out Burger is coming to Carson, but there is no estimate as to when the drive-thru burger will open.

Work on the project is progressing, according to Mike Abbate, vice president of store development for the Irvine-based chain, and city officials.

The construction site is located at 20512 Avalon Blvd. at an entrance to the SouthBay Pavilion near an Olive Garden restaurant.

The mall hit the headlines in July because of riots that resulted in more than 70 minors being arrested.

Plans submitted by the city’s Planning Commission staff in 2022 called for a 3,885-square-foot building with a drive-thru capable of stacking 24 vehicles.

The project takes up nearly an acre of the existing parking lot. Planners estimated the mall would lose 73 parking spaces, but would still have excess parking available.

Traffic analysis determined the project would have little to no impact on nearby intersections.

In-N-Out posted the restaurant on the “Opening Soon” page of its website. The Irvine-based chain typically waits until a project is in or near construction before listing it. The construction period is usually eight to nine months.

Planning and approval can take months or years before In-N-Out lists a project on its website.

Nearby In-N-Out drive-throughs include one at 730 W Carson St., Torrance.
