Mahomes, 53, was convicted of a third-offense charge of driving under the influence (DWI) stemming from an arrest that occurred eight days before his son’s Super Bowl LVIII victory in February. The former Major League Baseball pitcher was arrested for driving with an invalid license in Tyler, Texas, on June 29, less than five months after he was arrested for driving under the influence in the same city, according to court documents obtained by present TMZ Sports at the time.

Mahomes was reportedly pulled over for disobeying traffic signs and charged with driving without a valid license. The former pitcher has been arrested three times for drunk driving and faces up to 10 years in prison in his most recent arrest.

The state of Texas is notoriously strict when it comes to punishment for DUI/DWI, as under Texas state law, first-time offenders face a fine of up to $2,000 and 120 days in jail. Mahomes’ lawyer reportedly discussed a deal to change his sentence to 10 years probation. KLTV reported in July.

The elder Mahomes was in attendance when his son won his third Super Bowl, throwing for 333 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 34 of 47 passes. Patrick Mahomes is widely considered the best quarterback in the NFL and the face of the league, having earned two wins Associated Press Regular season MVP awards and three Super Bowl MVPs in eight seasons.
