PhotoFest! Shoshoni defeated Rocky Mt. in 1A 9-man soccer

The 1A 9 Man West Conference is at a standstill as Big Piney, Shoshoni and Greybull vie for the top spot in the upcoming postseason tournament. Shoshoni advanced to 5-2 on the season with a 32-6 victory over Rocky Mountain.

Shoshoni got the ball rolling on that play with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Braxton Mills to Morgan Neil, giving the Wranglers an early 7-0 lead. Rocky Mountain got back into the game with a TD connection from Joaquin Scheeler to Mason Moss, leaving the Grizzlies trailing 7-6 at the time.

Those would be Rocky Mountain’s last points of the night as Quinton Clark had a great game for Shoshoni. He had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, a fumble recovery for the score after a blocked punt and a 32-yard touchdown catch. Carson Kisling added a one-yard scoring run as the Wranglers would win this road game.

Shoshoni has a huge game at Big Piney on Saturday that will play a big role in the conference championship. Here’s the Wranglers’ playoff scenario: No. 1 seed with a win over Big Piney and a Greybull loss to Wyoming Indian; No. 3 seeds with loss; 1-2-3 point tiebreaker with a win over Big Piney and a Greybull win over Wyoming Indian. No. 1 seed with a win over Big Piney by 8 points or more; The number 3 seed with a win by 7 points or less as that would give them 2nd place in the tiebreaker which would make BP the number 1 seed and then it’s back to the head to head tiebreaker against Greybull which the Gain buffs. Current points tiebreaker = Big Piney +10, Greybull -5, Shoshoni -5.

Rocky Mountain is 1-5 this year and will play Wind River to close out the regular season. This is also a huge game, with the winner getting the No. 4 seed from the West in the 9-man rankings and the loser being eliminated.
