Pumpkin Spice Car Washes raise money for a Boston nonprofit

BOSTON — Pumpkin spice seems to be everywhere this time of year — from coffee to cake to candles and beer. Now you can add a car wash to the list and help a good cause.

ScrubaDub Car Wash, which has locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, has introduced a way to add a pumpkin spice scent to its washing process. Customers can get it for an additional cost of $5.

The company’s managing partner, Matthew Paisner, said there is a serious, heartfelt mission behind the light-hearted idea.

All November Pumpkin Spice Car Wash sales will benefit Community Servings in Jamaica Plain, a nonprofit organization that provides medically tailored meals to seriously ill people in Massachusetts in Rhode Island.

Car wash customers can also purchase a Thanksgiving cake online, which will provide meals for a week to those in need.

“We have been partners with Community Servings for several decades and were looking for ways to increase bake sales,” Paisner told WBZ-TV.

“It’s such a beautiful, heartwarming fall scent that prepares all of us in New England for the upcoming Thanksgiving, and the Thanksgiving table is so important and really means something to all of us.” If you’re interested in Community Servings, as part of our Pie in the Sky -Events, buy a cake, it ends up at your table at the same time you give someone something to eat. So your donation, your purchase of a cake is actually a donation to Community Servings. $35 will feed someone for a week. Think about the impact that has,” said Darcy Pfeifer, development director at Community Servings.

The pumpkin spice-scented car wash is available at all ScrubaDub locations from October 22nd to November 30th. ScrubaDub recommends turning off your car’s forced air system and turning on the heat or air conditioning during your wash to enjoy the full experience.
