The city of Wichita is offering free bus rides on Election Day

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The City of Wichita wants to ensure voters can carry out their civic duty. On Tuesday, November 5th, the city will offer free rides to the polls.

Last year, the city offered more than 6,000 free bus rides on Election Day, up 13 percent from previous years.

Megan Lovely, communications manager for the city of Wichita, said people have expressed concerns about transportation to polling locations. The city’s goal is to remove these barriers and give people the opportunity to ride the bus if they have never done so before.

“You don’t have to show proof that you voted or are going to vote,” Lovely said. “We are simply opening free public transport to support as many people as possible in exercising their civil rights.”

The free rides begin on Election Day in the morning and last until 7 p.m. Further details on the routes can be found at https://bus.wichitatransit.org/InfoPoint/
