The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta arrives on PS5 next week

Given the size and complexity of certain video games, it’s entirely fair that certain developers and publishers want nothing more than to test things outside of the QA groups that already exist. Yes, the quality assurance department is very important to any gaming process, but there are certain things that you can really “only test with real players” because you can never predict what players will do sometimes. For what’s to come Monster Hunter WildsThey held a showcase today where they released a brand new trailer for the Capcom title, while also announcing that a PS5 beta test would be coming next week. On the PlayStation Blog they published numerous details about it and what was shown in the trailer.

For example, they highlighted the numerous new locations featured, such as the Oilwell Basin:

“The Oilwell Basin is a new location where the expedition team arrives. As the name suggests, there are numerous oil wells in the area that regularly burst into violent flames. In the Oilwell Basin, a community has settled around a large fire forge, home to people skilled in the art of blacksmithing. Be excited to see what stories await you in Azuz.”

They also highlight some of the monsters you’ll have to fight, including one known as the Black Flame and a special wyvern named Rompopolo.

As for the beta itself, here are the details. First and foremost, you have several things to do in it. The biggest thing is probably being able to create a fully-fledged character before diving into the story and the hunt that comes with it. This will tell you how far you can push character creation. About the other content:

“In the story trial, where you can experience the beginning of the game, you play through the beginning of the story in an uninterrupted and seamless experience to defeat Chatacabra, which also includes a basic tutorial.” Take it from the Doshaguma -Hunt with the titular Doshaguma (Alpha) leading the herd.”

Oh, and you don’t have to take on these early quests alone as it will be available in co-op mode Monster Hunter Wilds Beta test:

“Both quests can be played in multiplayer mode by using an SOS flare to contact other online players. If players are unable to gather, up to three NPC support hunters will arrive to assist in the hunt.”

The beta starts on October 28th for PS Plus Early Access members and October 31st for others.
