Heroic passengers take control of a moving bus in the US after the driver suffers a seizure

Two quick-thinking passengers on a transit bus in Colorado Springs averted potential tragedy on Oct. 14 when the driver collapsed due to a medical emergency Fox News. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on a Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) Route 1 bus traveling from Hillside to Hancock Plaza.

Accordingly Fox News, As the driver fell from his seat, one passenger quickly moved forward while another rushed from behind to take control of the steering wheel. They brought the bus to a safe stop and contacted a dispatcher for assistance. At that time there were only three people on board: the driver and the two passengers, who heroically prevented a serious accident.

Video footage from inside the bus shows the two passengers rushing forward while the driver falls from his seat. One is holding what looks like a coffee cup and can be heard asking the unseen driver, “Are you OK?”

The other can be heard radioing a dispatcher to report an emergency while stopping the vehicle at a bus stop.

“Dispatch, I’m southbound on No. 1,” the second passenger said. “Your bus driver is having a seizure. I’ll park the bus.”

“He’s breathing, but the seizure seems to have stopped,” he said as the bus stopped.

MMT spokeswoman Elaine Sheridan said Fox News Digital that the agency knows the name of the second passenger who got into the driver’s seat but was unable to reach him to obtain permission to reveal his identity. The other passenger left the scene before first responders arrived because he had to go to work, she said.

“We have publicly asked these passengers to contact us because we would like to provide them with identification cards as a token of our appreciation for their help this morning,” Sheridan said.
