VirtualBank October 2024 Review: Money Market Accounts with Above-Average Yields

VirtualBank is the online banking division of First Horizon, a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. member bank founded in 1864. (FDIC) based in Tennessee. As a purely digital bank, VirtualBank has no brick-and-mortar locations or in-person services offering. However, the savings account products come with competitive interest rates to help you maximize your efforts.

While VirtualBank previously offered certificates of deposit (CDs) and other products, customers can now only open a money market account (MMA). Here’s a look at what this online bank offers and why it might be on your radar.

All rates and fees are as of October 23, 2024 and are subject to change.

Due to the upcoming digital changes, VirtualBank is currently only offering MMAs and is not opening new accounts. As new accounts are re-approved, there is a possibility that they will be restricted to existing customers only.

Is VirtualBank Right for You?

If you want to maximize the interest earned on your money market account and don’t mind a digital-only banking institution, VirtualBank might be worth considering. With a minimum deposit of $100 and no monthly balance requirement, it’s easy to earn above-average returns on your savings. However, this digital bank currently only offers one product and has no options for personal banking and services, cash withdrawals and deposits, checking and debit cards, or other services, making it extremely limited.
