Duke Basketball has about a third of the ACC in the NBA

The opening rosters of the 2024-25 NBA season include exactly two dozen Duke basketball products, roughly matching the mark at which the program’s league presence has hovered this decade.

As the show’s social media team pointed out in the following post ahead of Tuesday night’s opening showdowns, the 24 NBA Blue Devils represent 31 percent of the 77 former ACC players now in the league.

Also notable is that the combined total of the conference’s next three best marks (Virginia’s nine plus six each from UNC and Florida State) is three points lower than Duke’s number.

And the number of Duke basketball players – nationally, it’s a half-dozen runners-up to the league’s 30-player Kentucky basketball collection – shows no signs of slowing down, at least as long as third-year head coach Jon Scheyer and his unmatched player base The recruiting giant continues to attract plenty of top-notch talent.

Those recruiting wins include a trio of 2025 mega awards this month alone that push the Blue Devils to the top of the early class standings.

Additionally, there are a handful of potential first-rounders on the current Duke basketball roster, including the projected No. 1 overall draft pick in freshman phenom Cooper Flagg.

Added to this is the fact that the majority of active NBA Blue Devils are under 30 years old.

Duke’s young cast includes Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson and freshman Jared McCain. But there’s no doubt that the best Blue Devil prospect today is reigning Boston Celtics champion and visibly pumped-up MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, who was simply brilliant in Tuesday night’s 132-109 home win over the New York Knicks He finished his season with 37 points.
