Lady Tigers host Hoover tonight for title | News, sports, jobs

ELKINS – The Elkins High School girls soccer team will battle Herbert Hoover for the Class AA-A, Region II, Section 2 title tonight.

Game time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

The top-seeded Lady Tigers (14-4-1) advanced with a 10-0 win over Braxton County at home on Monday.

Audrina Shelton, Layla Fletcher and Talia Nucilli each scored two goals for Elkins, which led 4-0 at halftime.

Shelton started scoring just :30 into the game to set the tone.

The second goal from Halie Doyle, Fletcher and Shelton accounted for the first half goals.

Addy Cogar made it 5-0 with his goal :45 in the second half.

Nucilli scored two goals in the second half, with Fletcher, Allison Lindsey and Ziah George also scoring.

The Lady Huskies (11-4-2) posted a 5-1 win over Lewis County on Monday and moved ahead as sophomore Allison Casto scored a hat trick and Emma Hanson scored two goals.

Elkins and Herbert Hoover battled to a scoreless draw on September 7th.

The winner of today’s game will face the Section 1 winner in the regional final, with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

The Class AA-A, Region II title game is Thursday, Oct. 31, at Tiger Stadium.

The state tournament is Nov. 7-9 in Beckley.
