FRANKLIN – The third time wasn’t exactly the charm for Warren’s boys soccer team.

After two overtime losses to Meadville during the regular season, the Bulldogs scored an early goal against Warren and then three more in the second half for a 4-1 District 10 3A playoff victory over the Dragons on Tuesday at Franklin High School.

After a 3-2 overtime loss at Meadville and a 1-0 double overtime loss to the Bulldogs at War Memorial Field, a neutral playoff spot wasn’t enough. Warren is eliminated with a 10-8 overall score and Meadville (14-5) will face General McLane for the D10 title.

“Consistent wins in this game and we just couldn’t find enough of them this season.” said Warren coach Steffen Blair, whose team will lose 10 seniors. “Although it was difficult for us with the ball at times, we were able to use the outside space and create a lot of good opportunities, especially in the first half. We just didn’t make the most of it.”

Trailing 4-0, Warren got on the board when Trey Carrington assisted Jack Chapman, but time ran out.

“We are disappointed that it ends this way for the seniors, but we can’t thank them enough for their commitment to the program and their passion for a sport we all love.” Blair said.
