Vigil for five family members who died in the Fall City shooting

The Fall City community is in turmoil after a teenager allegedly shot and killed five of his family members in a domestic violence incident.

A vigil to remember the victims was held at Fall City United Methodist Church on Tuesday evening, with those in attendance still trying to make sense of the terrible tragedy.

There were some younger children at the event who took time off from school to process the situation. Although the younger victims were homeschooled, they were also active in community sports leagues and some of their teammates came to honor them.

“He was very nice. It was a lot of fun playing with him and now he’s gone,” said Leo Augustine, a young soccer player who lost his friend and teammate.

Leo Augustine shared an artwork to accurately describe his feelings.

“That’s the sad face I drew. It’s very realistic, that’s how I would describe it,” he said.

Leo’s mother, Rhea Robertson, was also the youngster’s coach.

“He scored three goals in the game on Saturday, he was just a great kid,” Robertson said.

She said the family attended every game and saw no signs of trouble.

“Not at all, I just can’t even do it. I don’t know,” Robertson said.

To spread love to the community and family friends, Pastor Carrie Bland hosted the vigil.

“Creating a space where people can come together and share their memories of each other, talk to each other and love each other and just hug each other,” Pastor Bland said.

Shelley Yohn said her husband did the construction work on the family home when it was being remodeled. As of Tuesday, the home’s lawn was still covered in caution tape.

“Small town and tragedy all come together,” Yohn said.

For those who knew the family, it was a struggle.

“I don’t know if the boys even want to continue after that. We had practice tonight, but we decided to come here instead of practice,” Robertson said.

Robertson says although she didn’t know the father that well, she said he worked as an engineer. She said she also went shopping with the children’s mother at Squak Mountain Nursery in Issaquah, adding that she is a great mother who loves her children.

Robertson also says the surviving teen has other family members who have stepped in to support her.
