The warming trend in San Diego County is forecast to continue through Wednesday, with inland temperatures rising 5 to 10 degrees above the seasonal average.

The National Weather Service said Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with highs of 73 to 78 degrees near the coast, 80 to 84 degrees inland, 81 to 86 degrees in the western valleys, 86 to 91 degrees near the foothills and 80 to 87 inches in the mountains and 95 to 98 in the desert.

Low clouds and fog are likely to reappear in coastal areas on Wednesday night and will persist until Thursday morning.

Temperatures will begin to cool slightly Thursday, with only minor day-to-day fluctuations expected through the weekend, the NWS said.

Looking ahead to early next week, the marine layer is expected to deepen, causing low clouds and fog to spread inland. Temperatures will drop noticeably through Monday and Tuesday, particularly in the mountains and deserts where stronger southwest to westerly winds are forecast for gusty conditions.
