CeeDee Lamb is waiting for the Dallas Cowboys to contact him as he tries to secure a long-term contract before the start of the 2024 season.

“I’m still waiting for that call, but until then we’re grinding along,” Lamb said in an Instagram video posted Friday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that Lamb and the Cowboys are “not too far apart” in contract negotiations.

Lamb has sat out of training camp and Dallas may be motivated to make a deal to ensure he will be on the field for the team’s Week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns on September 8th.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said the team is in “good shape” with Lamb and contract negotiations on Tuesday are “promising,” according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.

“The fact is, I believe we will get together,” Jones said of Archer. “I don’t want to speak for him. That’s what I try not to do. But we wouldn’t have offered him what we did if we didn’t want him to be here.”

Calvin Watkins from the Dallas Morning News reported on August 16 that Dallas had offered Lamb a contract “just under $33 million per season.” That would give him the second-highest average salary among wide receivers in the NFL behind Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson (according to Spotrac).

After setting a single-season franchise record with 135 catches for 1,749 yards in 2023, Lamb is currently set to make just under $18 million before hitting free agency in 2025.

As the start of the regular season approaches, Lamb and the Cowboys may be more willing to re-engage in extension talks and secure his long-term future in Dallas.
