Samsung offers 4K Generative Wallpaper feature on AI TVs

Samsung Electronics announced on Wednesday that it has introduced a new “generative wallpaper” feature for its AI-enabled TVs. This feature allows users to personalize their wallpapers with 4K images customized to their individual tastes and preferences.

The generative background feature is enabled by Samsung’s AI TVs’ proprietary Tizen operating system and will initially be available in South Korea, the United States and key European markets from October 2024. A global rollout is planned by 2025.

Users can easily enable Generative Wallpaper by navigating to the TV’s Magic Screen mode and selecting the Generative Wallpaper button. Magic Screen mode not only offers this feature, but also provides useful information such as weather and time and even allows the user to view their personal photos.

Samsung Electronics said it has fixed common problems with AI-generated images, such as unnatural or unrealistic images. The company emphasized that its AI technology curates images with precision to ensure they look natural and visually appealing.
