Celtics vs. Knicks Result, Live Updates: The NBA season begins as the reigning champions battle hotly against the new New York

The NBA is back. The 2024-25 season culminated on Tuesday night in Boston when the reigning champion Celtics hosted the Knicks. The Celtics are the favorites to win it all again in 2025and both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown might still feel like they have something to prove, even after hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy four months ago. Meanwhile, the Knicks unveil their new-look roster. New York traded blockbusters for Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns this season as the franchise seeks its first NBA title in 51 years.

The Celtics picked up where they left off in June. Boston hit 17 3-pointers in the first half and scored an incredible 74 points in the first 24 minutes of the season, giving them a 19-point lead in the locker room.

There was fanfare before the game began as the Celtics hoisted their 18th banner to the rafters and presented championship rings to players, coaches and supervisors.
