On Tuesday, Gov. Jared Polis and Lt. Gov. Primavera introduced a new tool designed to help Coloradans save money on health care. The Colorado Hospital Price Finder comes from the nonprofit PatientRightsAdvocate.org, whose mission is to connect Coloradans to services and contribute to price transparency.

Polis said the tool complements the state’s price transparency initiative that he and the Department of Health Policy and Financing announced earlier this year.

“Saving Coloradans money on health care is a top priority and I’m excited to help launch this new and free Colorado Hospital Price Finder to make health care prices more competitive and save people money on health care. I’m excited to see more of these tools online because “The more transparency, the better for all of us.”
Polis said in a statement.

The new service is designed for anyone in Colorado to research all available prices at any hospital and search for the care that best meets their needs. Using the price finder is free. It shows the total price the hospital charges each payer, with the final amount depending on the individual’s insurance plan and coverage.

“Any Coloradan when they receive a medical bill can go to the ColoradoHospitalPriceFinder.org website and compare to ensure the bill was billed appropriately and accurately,” said Cynthia Fisher, founder and president of PatientRightsAdvocate.
