Download up to 12 4K movies per second: The speed of the 6G connection will be absolutely incredible

Although the coverage of 5G networks is not yet standard throughout the Czech Republic and many other countries, scientists are already working on the next generation, which will bring nothing but noticeable acceleration. And as it turns out, it might literally be incredible. At least this is what a current measurement by a research team at the University College of London suggests, which managed to experimentally measure 6G under ideal conditions in the frequency range from 5 to 150 GHz.

Of course, while the theoretical speed of 5G networks is 20Gbps, in reality you will get significantly lower figures depending on what technology your phone and your operator use for 5G. However, the 6G measured in the laboratory by researchers from the aforementioned university reached an incredible speed of 938 Gbit / s, which is equivalent to 117.25 GB / s. In other words, at this speed, you should be able to download almost 12 such movies per second, assuming you download an average 10GB compressed 4K movie in HEVC, which is commonly sold in digital distribution. This is a speed that is hard to believe and of course cannot be achieved in normal operation, but given the jump in speed between 5G and 6G networks, it is clear that we can expect a noticeable improvement even with normal use of the electronics. However, we are still a few years away from the introduction of 6G networks into normal operation.
