Michigan State receives commitment from 2025 SF Cam Ward

Michigan State And Tom Izzo added a second commitment to his 2025 recruiting class on Oct. 22, earning four stars Cam Ward from Washington (DC) Largo High School. Ward announced his commitment and voted during a ceremony at his high school Michigan State ahead of other finalists in Kansas State, Maryland and Virginia.

Ward is rated four stars and is No. 55 overall 2025 On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 12 small forward and No. 2 recruit in Maryland.

The 6-foot-11 reigning Maryland Gatorade State Player of the Year winner officially visited each of his four finalists, making trips to Notre Dame, Florida State, Marquette and Vanderbilt.

Ward visited East Lansing for an official visit the same weekend as the wing’s first Spartan class engagement Jordan Scott (October 5). The visit consisted of the annual Izzone Campout event held after the annual Midnight Madness event on October 5th. Ward and Scott make up the entire Michigan State 2025 class.

“Visiting and just seeing the atmosphere was crazy,” Ward previously told On3 Joe Tipton. “Coach Izzo has a very detailed plan for how he will use me on offense and defense. His plan is to make me the most versatile player in the country. With his track record, he has made it. mile bridges, Draymond Green, Jaren Jacksonto name just a few. These are people who play my position, the wing and the striker.

“(Izzo) played for them and now they’re all in the league making money with a second contract. “That’s why I believe in him (Izzo). I’m not going to say he can get me there (NBA) because I still have a lot of work to put in, but he can definitely push me and he has the blueprint.”

Scouting report:

“Cam Ward has a great frame with good length and athleticism. The best part of his game might be his flair for production. Ward finds his way up the boards and is very good at finding scoring opportunities. Ware is at his best when he plays downhill toward the rim. He extends his legs in transition and can land over the rim in traffic. I would like to see him continue to develop off the jump, especially on the counter when his straight path is interrupted, and for him to be more consistent with his jump shot. Ward is a physical defender who can defend either forward position. He has performed consistently well at every level.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw.
