Robust economic data and deficit concerns are among the factors driving the rise in the 10-year Treasury yield despite a half-percentage point interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in September. Traders are also growing concerned that central bank policymakers may be less inclined to cut interest rates, even though the Fed had forecast another half-percentage point cut before the end of the year.

According to Jeff deGraaf, head of technical research at Renaissance Macro Research, the environment for stocks is certainly still positive.

“The trends are still positive and we don’t have a lot of momentum in the short term, but this is by no means the end of the world,” he said on CNBC’s “Closing Bell” on Tuesday. “In fact, this often leads to a good constellation because it is a consolidation.”

“Historically, if you invest today, the next three months are never better than the end of October,” deGraaf added.

A number of notable names will announce their results on Wednesday. AT&T, Coca Cola And Boeing are on deck before the bell, during Tesla And IBM will report results after closure.
