SAN ANTONIO – As national attention focuses on the small, wealthy community of Olmos Park as authorities search for Suzanne Clark Simpson, crime statistics released by the FBI show how rare cases of violent crime are there.

In the past decade, fewer than 10 violent crimes — defined by the FBI as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault — have been reported in Olmos Park.

The North Side suburb is a few miles north of downtown San Antonio and is near the Alamo Quarry Market, the University of the Incarnate Word and the city of Alamo Heights.

In Olmos Park, home to about 2,200 people, the average household income is about $180,000 – compared to San Antonio’s average household income, which is just under $60,000, according to the U.S. Census.

According to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, which contains annual crime statistics from all U.S. law enforcement agencies, no murder or rape cases have been reported in Olmos Park in the past decade.

Two robberies have been reported in the last decade: one in 2022 and one in 2023.

From 2018 to 2022, serious assaults were reported once a year. According to the data, two serious physical injuries were reported in 2023.
