The Lakers are coming off a 47-35 season and advanced through the play-in before losing to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. Los Angeles didn’t make any major structural changes to the roster, but instead hired a new coach, JJ Reddick, to lead this team forward.

The Timberwolves had an excellent season last year, posting a 56-26 record and reaching the Western Conference Finals before losing in five games to the Dallas Mavericks. Unlike the Lakers, Minnesota made a significant roster move by trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in exchange for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.
