Soccer mom woos and marries her purple-haired lover in the “Abigail” video

Soccer Mommy has shared “Abigail,” a tender indie rock song about an eponymous purple-haired lover that will appear on her upcoming sixth album. Evergreen. The album will be released on Friday.

Soccer Mommy sings sweetly over gentle guitar tones as she admires her future wife’s interests. “I know all your favorite things/Chocolate cake and shooter games/And making music in the rain when no one’s around,” she sings. In an accompanying video set in the farming simulation game Stardew ValleySoccer Mommy advertises and wins a digital representation of Abigail and ends the three-minute video as a happily married couple.

“Abigail” marks the fourth single Evergreen. Her third single, “Driver,” deviates from the acoustic notes of previous singles “M” and “Lost” and ups the ante by singing, “I’m a five-foot-four engine waiting to move/I’m one.” Testing His Patience in Everything I Do,” over electric guitar riffs.

Backed by acoustic guitars, flutes and lush strings, Soccer Mommy returns to her roots Evergreenand wants listeners to feel like “you’re lying outside, your eyes closed, the sun shining on you and you can feel the warmth, the flowers and the trees,” she wrote in a statement. Fans can do just that with Soccer Mommy Evergreen’s Listening Quest, a listening experience launching Wednesday that gives fans early access to the album by heading to the nearest park and selecting the quest link.

Soccer Mommy’s Tour in support of evergreen, starts in January. She will perform in Atlanta on January 22nd before traveling to Brooklyn, Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles and other cities. It will begin its European leg in April. Evergreen follows Sometimes, forever, a dreamy indie rock album releasing in 2022.
