Greatest Hits now available for Yoto audio players for kids

Girl power is here: children’s audio player Yoto has added Spice Girls music to its library in collaboration with Universal Music Group.

Spice Girls: Greatest Hitsa collection of 14 songs, is now available for the Yoto Player and Yoto Mini via a music card priced at $12.99. Yoto made the announcement on Tuesday (October 22).

Featured tracks include the Spice Girls’ biggest pop hits that parents who grew up in the ’90s will surely remember: “Wannabe,” which spent four weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997, and “Say You’ll Be There,” which reached No. 3 on the charts that same year.

Yoto offers ad-free music, stories and educational activities for children on screen-free audio players. They are used like the new ones by inserting a card Spice Girls: Greatest Hits First, into a slot located on top of the player.

“Adding the Spice Girls’ greatest hits to our music collection is an exciting milestone for Yoto,” says Dom Hodge, Yoto’s head of music and sound, in a statement about the new release. “We’re excited to bring iconic ’90s hits from one of the most influential music groups of all time to aspiring music lovers around the world.” We can’t wait for young listeners to discover the joy and vibrancy that lies within the Spice Girls’ discography be expressed.”

Sarah Boornman, general manager of youth strategies at Universal Music UK, says: “For so many parents and children in the 90s, the Spice Girls WAS pop music!” We can already feel the anticipation and excitement as these now adult fans prepare to passing on distinctive, iconic anthems like “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life” to the next generation.”

Disney music favorites like original songs from Encanto And Frozenand classic song collections from The Beatles and Queen are among the other featured music cards on Yoto’s website. Some other fun highlights include music themed to upcoming holidays like Halloween (Halloween howl And Scary songs) and sets of classic preschool songs.

In classic children’s literature there are several card options – choices like Frog and toad And Winnie the Poohboth great series to read with younger people, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe And Matildaoften loved by children of primary school age – for families who would like to use the player to listen to stories.

Universal Music Group is among Yoto’s current partners, which include PRH, Macmillan, Sony, Disney, Roald Dahl Story Company, Pottermore, HarperCollins, Hachette, Viacom, Bonnier and Scholastic.

The Yoto Player costs $99.99 and the 2024 edition of the Yoto Mini costs $69.99.
