The dog training for “John Wick 3” took longer than filming the film, remembers the stuntman

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum Stunt performer Anis Cheurfa reveals new details about the dog’s stunt training for the film and recalls how tedious it was. The film features a number of breathtaking action sequences, including a shootout in Morocco involving Halle Berry’s Sofia, who has two well-trained dogs that she uses to attack enemies.

During a recent appearance on Corridor Crew’s YouTube series “Stuntmen React,” Cheurfa recalled his experiences John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum as a stuntman, especially the training that prepared Sofia’s dogs for the shoot. According to the stuntman The actors and stunt performers trained with the dogs for seven months before filming even beganand there were strict rules for dealing with the animals on set.

Although most of the filming went smoothly, Cheurfa recalls an incident where one of the dogs bit a stunt performer’s hand instead of grabbing his crotchwhere her sign was. Check out some of Cheurfa’s comments or watch the video below (the relevant section starts at 0:59):

“They are well trained. They are like military dogs. After doing things like that, they end up going on missions with the military.

“So they introduced these dogs to us about a year before we made this movie. So we trained with them for about a couple of months, so they already knew us by the time we shot this. But there are still no cuddles. When you are on set, you are not allowed to interact with these dogs. They are really professional. We trained with them for at least seven months before we went to Morocco with them. And they were puppies. When we shot they were almost full-grown dogs.

“It takes a while. You have to get them used to the noise and volume because the dogs panic.”

Parabellum propelled the franchise forward

The dog action in Parabellum is a perfect example of this and undoubtedly one of the reasons why the film was so successful. It is unclear whether there will be one John Wick 5But ParabellumThe Morocco Shootout remains the pinnacle of the way dogs can be incorporated into a fight scene to enhance it. Sofia hasn’t returned to the franchise since the third installment, but she certainly seems like a character worth exploring further, and her dogs could be a part of that.

The use of dogs in Parabellum is emblematic of the boundary-pushing for which the franchise has become known, and It would be a tall order to surpass their use in the Morocco sequence. If dogs get another standout sequence in the franchise after that John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumit’s obviously something that requires a lot of preparation and training to pull off successfully.
