Police release video footage of a “person of interest” who may know something about the beating death

IDAHO FALLS – Police are searching for a person of interest following the brutal death of a man in Idaho Falls Saturday evening.

Alejandro Paredas-Hurtado, 50, died after he was found on the sidewalk on Northgate Mile near May Street. Police say he suffered “significant injuries” from the beating.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident, but the Idaho Falls Police Department released dashcam video from an officer’s vehicle Monday night that shows a person of interest crossing the road near where Paredas-Hurtado was found.

“The officer was turning onto Northgate Mile from May Street when this footage was captured. After that individual crossed May Street, the officer turned south onto Northgate Mile and shortly thereafter discovered Mr. Paredes-Hurtado lying on the sidewalk in front of businesses in the 500 block of Northgate Mile,” a police statement said .

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating the person so officers can speak with them. Anyone with information is asked to call (208) 529-1200. Anonymous tips can be submitted to East Idaho Crime Stoppers at IFCrime.org. Tipsters who report information to Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.
