Israel-Hamas War Live Updates: Lebanese Hezbollah rules out negotiations during fighting with Israel

Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement said on Tuesday there would be no negotiations as fighting with Israel continued and it claimed sole responsibility for a drone attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home.

The group “takes full and sole responsibility” for the attack on Netanyahu’s home, Mohammad Afif, head of the Iran-backed militant group’s media office, said at a news conference in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

“If our hands did not reach you last time, then days, nights and the battlefield still lie between us,” he said.

Israel said a drone was fired at Netanyahu’s vacation home on Saturday. Netanyahu was not at the scene at the time, but described it as an assassination attempt by “Iran’s proxy Hezbollah” and called it a “serious mistake.”

Hezbollah also acknowledged for the first time that Israel had captured some of its fighters since it began a ground offensive in southern Lebanon, saying Israel was responsible for their well-being.

Hezbollah did not capture any Israeli soldiers, but came close, Afif said. “It won’t be long before we have prisoners of the enemy (Israel).”

He also denied that the group’s Al-Qard Al-Hassan association was involved in financing Hezbollah’s salaries or weapons and would fully meet its obligations to clients even after Israel targeted it with around 30 attacks on Sunday .

Israel and the United States say Al-Qard Al-Hassan, which has more than 30 branches across Lebanon, is being used by Hezbollah for money laundering and terrorist financing, which the group denies. (Reuters)
