LA Metro Offers Free Transit on Election Day – Pasadena Now

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority will offer free rides across the transportation network on Election Day, November 5, to encourage eligible county residents to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

The free service operates from midnight to 11:59 p.m. and covers all Metro buses, trains, Metro Bike Share and Metro Micro services throughout Los Angeles County. Voters can drop off mail-in ballots at nine subway stations.

Metro Bike Share users can access free 30-minute rides using promo code 110524 at any kiosk, online or through the Metro Bike Share app. The code can be redeemed several times a day. A credit or debit card is required. Bike rides cost just $1.75 extra for every half hour after the first 30 minutes, with electric bike fees waived.

The agency’s on-demand rideshare service, Metro Micro, will offer free rides in eight zones across the county. Passengers can book via the app, online or by calling 323-GO-METRO (323-466-3876) and pressing option 5 with the code Vote24.

Metro Bike Share has created an interactive map to help users find in-person voting locations and ballot drop boxes at bikeshare.metro.net/go-vote/. The agency encourages riders to share their journey on social media using #pedaltothepolls and tag @bikemetro for a chance to be featured in Metro feeds.
