New York Liberty Ticker Tape Parade: Route, viewing and ceremony details

New York Liberty wins first WNBA championship

Breanna Stewart came to the New York Liberty two years ago with one goal in mind: bring the long-suffering franchise its first championship. WNBA Finals MVP Jonquel Jones soon joined her and the pair helped the Liberty accomplish their mission a year after they suffered a disappointing loss to Las Vegas in the Finals. FOX 5 NY’s Tina Cervasio has the story.

NEW YORK CITY – The New York Liberty celebrate their first WNBA championship in franchise history with a ticker parade through New York City.

The parade is open to all fans and free of charge. However, if you want to attend the championship ceremony at City Hall and the fan celebration at Barclays Center, you will have to get tickets.

FOX 5 NY will have Live reporting this week’s Canyon of Heroes parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. You can watch live on Channel 5 and stream on the FOX LOCAL app.

“This championship isn’t just for us and New York City – it’s for all Liberty loyalists and our Brooklyn community! “It is an honor to celebrate at the legendary Canyon of Heroes and also to gather with our passionate fans at our home in Brooklyn,” said Keia Clarke, CEO of New York Liberty. “The county community has embraced us wholeheartedly since we played at Barclays Center and we want to share this moment with them.”

  • The parade begins at 10 a.m. in Battery Park and continues north along Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes to City Hall.
  • Following the parade, a ceremony honoring freedom will take place at noon at City Hall.
  • The team will also host a celebration with fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 7 p.m

Additionally, championship merchandise is available HERE and at the team’s store at Barclays Center, Brooklyn Fanatics.

Brooklyn Fanatics will be open with extended hours throughout the week (Monday, Oct. 21 – Wednesday, Oct. 23: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 24: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.).
