Texas continues to experience near-record high temperatures

It’s the end of October, but Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Texas weather will continue to resemble late summer, with afternoon temperatures reaching record highs. Yes, we’re likely to see a rise into the upper 80s and 90s across the state over the next few days. Aside from a few showers in the Big Bend this afternoon, significant rainfall is unlikely over the next five days.

A cold front will move south into Texas on Friday, crossing the northwestern half of the state before stalling early Saturday. High temperatures northwest of the front will become cooler, in the 70s, to around 80 degrees on Friday and Saturday. The southeastern half of Texas will continue to see near-record high temperatures, spreading back across the state on Sunday and Monday.

Weather changes around Halloween?

Above average temperatures are expected to continue across most of the United States, including Texas, into the final days of October.

Our weather is unlikely to change significantly until around Halloween, with a significant shift in the pattern, but the timing is still uncertain. It could occur around October 31 or be delayed until the first days of November. This shift will likely bring a stronger cold front and hopefully the possibility of increased precipitation.
